I actually asked this question this morning!!!! Ty
...and here we are!
This is very important because I'm using already Spotify and If you DJing with Spotify is really easy and very fast and even Cool.
I also find that when buying music make sure to listen to it on good speakers or with headphones. Cause sometimes a track sounds good listening to it on a laptop speakers then you buy it and play it on a big system and then you realize it’s not such a good track.
Exactly right, it's happened to me many times
Thank you!!!
You're welcome Michele
@@digitaldjtips it’s definitely a struggle, so it’s good to find useful information. ✌🏼🎧
I m here weekly because your good mate!
You are the best
Totally agree with you on only buying good quality music that you love, yes it costs money but 1. It supports the artist and 2. If you’re buying tracks that wont be redundant in months/years to come then it’s a sound investment. Unless you’re playing out you don’t need the buy all the newest tunes ( of which many may become irrelevant in a few weeks).
Agreed!
Zip DJ and Beatport are my go-to's 👍🏻
thanks for sharing Max!
1:57 i’m new to DJing. Hoping to hear record pool for beginner DJ
just got tons of cd albums from local library. time to rip some.
I'm glad to see you write an article on your practices Phil, and yes maybe I came off a bit agro with my question the other week so I take that back! I do feel some Traktor love could be added into a future live stream one day though as even if your survey does not reflect it there are still a lot of people around using and also love Traktor even from there begining days up until today, but I understand you might not have much call for it as you have explained. I like to think my questions as challenging ones! ;)
Ah, thanks for the dialogue! You were the straw that broke the camel's back to be honest so you did us a favour - we care a LOT about impartiality and also privacy. No harm done, and we hear you about Traktor - we do have some Traktor stuff in the pipeline as it happens.
Awesome Phil and glad to contribute! 😊
OMG. Phil you read my mind my man. I was just looking for this topic and was hoping you’d cover it soon. Crazy coincidence. Thank you for all you do for the community. 🙏
Awesome!
Direct Music Service is great for building a throwbacks catalogue. They go as far as 50's music.
Thanks for the tip
I’ve been buying vinyl again, but I’m also buying a lot of digital new tunes direct from labels anjunadeep/beats ect. It seems that customers get unlimited Download when purchasing, which is great. If I can cut out Beatport I will.
Yes, that's often how labels do it nowadays, it's a good idea.
can u do a video for how to organise the music in the folder, that one can find a song easily? thanks!
Great suggestion! It’s something we cover a lot in our DJ courses but maybe we will do a short version here too
Can you give an idea of prices of differnt places where to get music?
you can see the prices when you go to these services
Hi Phil, hope you’re well! Maybe we call 2010-19 the twennyteens 😂
Yeah, good call!
What’s the best tag, rename album album art software on Mac? (Preferably with batch / autofill features)
I use Metadatics.
Whats the name or model of laptop stand you use

Mr. Phil. Have you heard the news about Tidal? Starting April 10 the hi-fi plan will be $10.99. American dollars for everyone and $9 extra if you're a DJ.. I'm not sure if that reinstate us being able to use stems again? Also, Mr. Phil how many hard drives do you recommend we back up our MP3 collection to music files, etc. I use dumbdrives while doing sets but I like to have a master back up on at least one hard drive but I don't feel that safe enough thank you by the way I like Apple Music Tidal and BPM supreme
I got this email too, so are they going to charge £9 to use DJay from Algoriddim?
Yes, we did hear about Tidal. Follow the 3-2-1 backup rules - 3 backups, on two media types, in at least 1 different physical location
"Mr Phil" 😂😂😂😂😂😂
i'm confused. is beatsource subscription only? based on how it was explained here, i'd assume it's a store, just for more commercial music, but i only see monthly prices there
The monthly price is for the streaming service, which integrates to DJ software. It is also a store though, just look at individual tracks and you’ll see they have a price too. You don’t need the monthly plan to purchase tracks though
Amazon is great a got an album 1.79 that 7.99 on iTunes 😊
Glad you found a bargain Rob!
Hi Phil where can I buy older tunes soul .motown or northern soul.
Discogs then rip them if they're hard to find, if not, mainstream stores as per the video
@@digitaldjtips thankyou 👍
Hello thanks! Why did you choose the REV1 for this presentation please?
No particular reason, it was just what we were teaching on at the school before this show, so it was set up already.
What’s the best source for getting Reggae & Dancehall Music?
Beatsource is a good starting point
For a function gig, Were I don't need to mix, can I just use Spotify? to just play chart music, and requests. I'm a club DJ so doing a function party is new to me.
There's nothing stopping you
@@digitaldjtips I Mean by just playing playlists from Spotify Premium that are already on there?
I’d have Luved this back in the day. The amount I spent on now cds.. 😂
where best place to buy extended 80' and 90' club music?
There’s probably quite a lot on the mainstream music stores if you dig a bit
Are Tidal now charging an extra £9 to use DJ apps? Makes it even more important to own? Cheaper in the long run?
You should always own your collection, a streaming app in your DJ system is a nice-to-have extra
I don't mind buying the hard to find music from Amazon or iTunes, because of their vast library. However, I question the quality of the tracks: are they really 320 kbps? Dunno.
Use your ears! 👂
👍👍👍👍👍👍👍
I like using 7 digital because it let me buy individual track and whole album in losses.
Yes, it's a good service
Do you think it's bad to rip music incase u cannot afford the services?
That's a question you have to ask yourself
😮😮😮😮😮
That's right!
Always Pioneer talking about
?
DJ's, make your own edits and remixes. There is too much available today to make that happen.
That light in your glasses still there. .. I can't be the only one that can't watch it coz of the reflection driving me bonkers.
Sounding very vampire-ish, I'm gonna be honest.
Not much we can do about that
Sounding?
@@ghettoshampoo👹😅
..sidify🤫
MP3's from Amazon? Not in a million years if you play on big soundsystems, that's a no-go.
MP3 vs WAV is a bigger debate, agreed
@@digitaldjtips I wouldn't advise anyone to use WAV files either, ancient format. AIFF is the way, lossless and it has all the meta data in it.
TH-cam😂
I’m crate dig my ass off on TH-cam and use tune my music to sync to Apple Music and Beatport. Love it cause all sorts of wacky stuff surfaces on TH-cam that I wouldn’t normally find.
A bit simple....
Care to add something then Peter?
