This video feels wrong, literally everywhere in China I go I see people wear Hanfu. It is a societal norm, therefore it's very easy for people to be free.
Imo Hanfus are one of the most beautiful type of traditional clothing. I’m so proud of these people for doing what is right. Some of them reminded of the girl who told one of the actors to gauge her eyes out and donate them to someone in need 😂
It is, that's why Koreans covet it's design for hundreds of years. The main design of Hanfu emphasize a left over right fold forming a Y axis. This is extremely different from European or other Asian national costumes except Korea and Japan which copied the design.

To me this shows a lot about the chinese strenght, the people always interfere, always place them between the assaulter and the victim.. I learned how to admire this country and it's people.
Agree, it is often the case in these social experiments from Tree man, you will find lots of them put their body in front of the victim and followed by giving their phone numbers to the victim.
You must know too that the Chinese decorum of ancient times were wiped by the Cultural revolution of Mao Tze Dong with its purge of the 4 Olds, old thinking, old tradition, old custom, old culture ! No Confucian obedience to parents anymore. That's why there are so many Mainland China tourists travelling abroad showing bad behaviour, fighting, coarse mouth like this man, scuffling to grab food etc. And the 4 olds are still preserved just by Chinese descendants living in South east Asia and elsewhere outside of China !
We should not refer to them as "costume", because I think it invalidates them as clothing and demeans this from of clothing. Obviously it was not your intention to be demeaning. But our modern styles of clothing (derived basically from European dress) are not superior, and to call things like hanfu "traditional costume" has the effect of subtly casting them as illegitimate.

It's so strange for me. I've been in Thailand, in Indonesia, in Vietnam, in Laos... Everywhere even in Asia people proudly wear their national clothes. In our country it looks more for the stages, than for everyday, but it's still ok. I didn't even know that the China has some problems with the hanfu. Especially when there are popular Chinese novellas and people from all over the world admire the style of hanfu. The girl looks so pretty in the hanfu, well, it is what happens with the most of national clothes actually. It's created comfortable and beautiful for the people in the one local. I like modern clothing. But I LOVE ancient Asian attire. More beautifull, elegant, artistic, with rich, historical and cultural pride and representation of both status and self cultivation. At an event where both forms of dress are acceptable, I wonder which people will have the best quality interactions?🤔 Not how many talk to which, but which have the longest conversation and attention throughout the event. I would take notice of those in the modern style dress, but choose to converse with those in the traditional dress. More intriguing and an easy topic to start a conversation. I LOVE C and K period / fantasy dramas. "The Legend of White Snake" with Ju Jing Yi is one of my favorites.
