Saw Peter Frampton play in Fayetville NC. in 92!!!!!!!!!!!! He was passing through thought it was a joke for a cover band. It was Peter Frampton people!!!!!!!!!!!! The place only held 300 people no tables or chairs standing room only. When we got in they let about 30 more in then turned people away. He played Frampton Comes Alive the hole record note for note. It was the loudest, and clearest I ever heard someone play, His SOLO'S bounced off the walls . The best show by far I EVER SEEN !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Man that's a great version of Shine On. Thank you for sharing it. I've watched it about 50 times. Love the tune. Neat to see Humble Pie Members. Drummer was so solid.
This was one of the best songs he did in Humble Pie. The creative quality of that band left with Frampton, and they lapsed into non-stop boogie music. Of course I was diggin' it too. It wasn't till I heard his solo albums that I realized that Peter was a great songwriter. And a great guitarist and singer...
For those of you seeing/hearing Frampton for the first time (if that's possible) THIS is what rock n' roll is all about. I saw him in '76 at Mile High Stadium in Denver (had to drive from Albuquerque, N.M.) but it was well worth it. Steve Miller band opened for him, and they sound as good now as they did back then. Incredible.
Just awesome to have the Pie with both their lead guitarists getting together to pay tribute to Marriot not to leave out Jerry Shirley and Greg Ridley. I think Frampton said he had never played with Clempson before this live as Humble Pie. Thanks for posting. Sounds bloody awesome!!
funny when Frampton says "we've never performed this song live". It's on his live album "Frampton Comes Alive" and I was in the audience when he played it in San Francisco in the 70s.
Saw Frampton when he was with Humble Pie in the early years, also so him with Frampton's Camel if you can remember back that far. When I saw him with Frampton's Camel he opened for the glam rockers Slade. This was at the Santa Rosa movie theater in Houston. Saw him at the May Day gig in Austin the same year Comes Alive was released. Probably three times since then. Great rocker. Miss Steve Marriot and the Small Faces and his work with the pie.
Saw Frampton's Camel and they were unbelievably loud in a small gym in Oswego, New York. One could only imagine what the Pie were live. Great song here!!!
Better than the original. Peter served this one up exactly how Steve would have wanted it - Lots of punch and played slightly faster than original. Peter, Steve Winwood, Paul Rodgers are a few guys that still sound as good as ever.
That isn't Deborah Bonham in the backing singers is it? EDIT: Just caught PF saying "Debbie and the wonderful choir..." If it is he has a class act there. Her own work with her husband Peter is outstanding.
I've been trying to find a concert I saw at the Cleveland Agora Theater that I believe was organized by Jerry Shirley as a benefit for Steve Marriott, and included Peter Frampon on guitar. Does anyone know of a recording, if any, from this benefit concert?
Yes as a Humble Pie fan I was not so impressed by Comes Alive but every woman I knew was and Holy smokes dropping that vinyl on was almost guaranteed to get me to "Come Alive". Shine on, From Rock On, Humble Pie RIP Steve.
you have GOT to be kidding..WOW!! amazing old school HUMBLE PIE .. This is incredible!!

One of my most favorites! I still have the vinyl of it. Humble Pie did something different from everyone else, they had their own identity and sound.

Peter always looks likes he's having the time of his life, even at a Memorial Concert.
my favorite song from Frampton Comes Alive. 30 years later, the song still bangs. And bangs hard. Hello San Francisco!!
Great song - great guitarist - great post - thanks so much
great tone from that Les Paul !
Thanks for this, it's brilliant. Peter Frampton just gets better and better!
Frampton Comes Alive was a killer album when it came out...man..good memories...when music was music!

Wonderful, just wonderful. I could watch this guy all day and night. But no recording reveals the energy present in a LIVE show. PFF rocks!
Keep in mind people, Steve Marriot was The Men
of Humble Pie and Small Faces! R.I.P. Steve!

True rock star...needs no hair piece to try and convince us he's not getting old. Rock on!
Thank you for the post....anything Frampton rocks!
GREAT GREAT GREAT!!!
GREAT BAND
If this is Frampton, then I've greatly underestimated the fella.
Awesome!!!!
He meant that he never played it with this group of people. He played it before going solo, when he was with Humble Pie.
Yes. Jerry Shirley on drums and Clem Clempson switched to keyboards for this one.

This could be the one girl.....great tune
I miss Steve Marriott like hell. No comparison. But I did love Frampton for his.......blonde curls. Oh Well!
Shine On Peter Frampton Find it hard to see you in the dark
I looked around
You were beside me Don't you realize it's hard to dream
Without your helping hand to guide me This could be the one, girl
If you will be my sun Shine on
Me, shine on me
Let it shine on
Shine on
All I have to so is let it shine on Please look about and tell me what you see
All noise and dirt and plastic people
Cause love is clean
And ours has been a bluer shade of jade
Than black or white is Take me on a ride, girl
Right there by my side, Oh Shine on
Shine on me, shine on you
Let it shine on
Shine on
All I have to do is let it shine on[Repeat: x2]
Shine on
Shine on me, shine on you
Let it shine on
Shine on
All I have to do is let it shine on Songwriters: BILLY OSBORNE, JEFFREY L. OSBORNE, RICHARD KERR© Kobalt Music Publishing Ltd., Sony/ATV Music Publishing LLC, Universal Music Publishing Group, Warner/Chappell Music, Inc.
