This is my favorite 2pac song of all time.
Lost my mam last December, we used to listen this song leading up to her passing. I grew up with no dad, very poor, went to prison for 5 years, and my mam done everything for me. Never turned her back on me. I relate to this song so much, always brings a tear to my eye. After prison I went to college and got a really good job, because my mam stuck by me.
Dude, that's a beautiful thing. Playing this song as your mom was passing was sweet. When my dad was in hospice, I played some music for him on my laptop. He was conked out, but I have a feeling he heard some of it. Music is our version of heaven on earth, and there's nobody like mama, is there.

Great to see new faces reacting. Tupac is particularly unique in the way that he is able to portray such a wide range of emotions and messages through different means. As you’ve seen from this song and Keep Ya Head Up, Tupac can really bring conscious subjects up in an effective way but he was also very commanding, rough and rugged style that he also kills with his more harsh and thug-like tracks. Some more of his conscious and deep tracks would be “Changes” and “Me Against The World.” Other more harsh and tough tracks are “Hit ‘Em Up” (a diss track discussing his beef with some East Coast rappers and his shooting in New York) and “Ambitionz Az A Ridah” (which is the first song he recorded after being bailed out of prison and joining Death Row Records.)

I lost mine in 2008. And it breaks my heart every single day to think about Her It hurts my heart because she did everything she could for me, she spoiled me rotten.
And I wasn't always the best son. And I regret that now. And every day I break down. I'm crying because of it.
Man, she's still with you. Her spirit is around, in the air, taking care of you however she can. I truly believe that. I said in the video "I knew this would happen," but I didn't. All I knew about this song is that the screencap of other reactors showed them looking all sad, so I knew it would be heart-wrenching, but I didn't realize I'd start thinking about my own mom. Don't be hard on yourself. She knows you love her.

I've hung out so much with my cousins that I had to listen to banjo music to get back to my center. Back at the crib, forming a human chain, playing Hearts or Spades and listening to Terrence Trent D'Arby, playing hoops at the park where invariably someone would call out, "Who's got white boy?" Yeah, I played all through high school, very Bird-like with the passing and the impossible shots. Anyway, we cool.

The crazy thing about the intro is that his mother did get out of jail just before he was born, but as this song was released, he had just went into jail, which is why there's no real new footage of him for this video. Me Against the World (Which Dear Mamma is on) is my favorite album of 2Pac's. Sorry about your loss, he was a man of many layers and in a lot of interviews he sounded a lot older than he actually was. It was a crazy time from Me Against the World to All Eyez on Me to his death and his final record that was meant to be released when he was alive, Makaveli The Don Killuminati The 7 Day Theory all within 16 months.
Yeah, the amount of music he put out was amazing, all by age 25. Thanks for the intel. I've avoided reading a full bio of Tupac b/c I want to get to know him by his music first, but one of these days I'll buy a good biography in book form. Fascinating dude.
