Historically, this aircraft was faster than the B-25. Indeed the designers intentionally sacrificed low speed handling and a ton of safety, precisely to achieve that extra speed. So having it be slower than the B-25 is a _huge_ mistake.
I think the main issue with it is the BR. I don't understand why either, it's bomb load isn't that much more than the b25, it has less forward firepower and its slow. Facing later 109s is brutal.
It shouldn’t be slow because it reality it was one of the faster medium bombers with low drag and a laminar flow mid mounted wing. I hate how at thunder fucks up with the stats on bombers.
I’m still hoping they add in the nose art of a famous b26 known as Flak Bait For those of you that don’t know The NASM B-26B-25-MA nicknamed "Flak-Bait" (AAF serial number 41-31773) survived 206 operational missions over Europe, more than any other American aircraft during World War II (A de Havilland Mosquito B. Mk. IX bomber completed 213 missions but this aircraft was destroyed in a crash at Calgary Airport in Canada, two days after V-E Day, see NASM D. H. 98 Mosquito). Edit: she is currently being restored at the Smithsonian's Air and Space Museum in Washington, D.C. Edit 2: I’m not sure if she’ll be a static display or if they’ll fly her at air shows but she’ll probably be restored to static display due to how rare b26 marauders are (there’s only about 3 or so left)
I had correctly predicted that Gaijin would neuter this plane with a BR at around the 4.3-4.7 range, as well as a disappointing flight model. My test flights have given me time to work on a strategy for her, and I have hope that they'll do me good in the matches to come... but they really need to fix this. Just putting it in the game to appease those of us that have waited years to see it isn't enough.
Had to watch this to give me hope. Got it but haven't spaded it as I lost heart on first day. Be safe and hope your feeling allot lighter in heart mate
This plane is a huge disappointment. I waited years for this aircraft and it's not even on par with a B-25. What's worse - on paper, it's faster than the B-25. It should be an upgrade, albeit a marginal one, over the B-25 but...it isn't. It's acceleration is SLOW, it climbs like shit (for a bomber) even though it has more powerful engines than the B-25. Maybe it'll get a downtier or maybe it'll be buffed. Who knows. All I know is that your review is accurate. Even in Sim (I fly exclusively SIM these days after I got my VR headset). Thanks for all you do and keep up the good work.
I flew this thing out, bombed 2 bases, and had a bf109g6 on my 6. Hit him like 5 times, no crits, and then got shredded. I sure wish the defensive armament did something. It did take a decent beating, but it's over BR'd for sure. (Also, beautiful landing haha)
@@adrianalavez4140 I flew it out bone stock, so I didn't have AP belts unlocked. And I just peppered him and nothing happened, so it was just disappointing.
The French B-26C is also pure suffering and misery to play. I was so excited to play this bomber because I thought it would be like a French tree B-25 but no the B26 is a struggle bus.
It’s almost like Gaijin did zero research before adding this plane. Historically speaking it was quite fast for a medium bomber. So fast that it’s landing speed was very high and it gave new pilots a hard time. It also (ironically) had the highest survival rate of any allied bomber used in Europe. I was expecting this plane to be on par with the German premium bombers in terms of speed and bomb load. It’s still my favorite and I spaded it already and am about to with the French one… but Gaijin really just threw this in there for guys like me who’ve been begging for it and they threw it in there without a thought or any research and it’s pretty obvious. But I’m rambling… appreciate the vid. Thanks and happy gaming.
Stock bomb load of the 30 100lb bombs is the best option you get for air rb, you can kill a base in one go and you are at your lightest so you can run for the bases
@@jengar6258 the trick to go slightly faster is to enter a slight dive, preferably 2 to 5 degrees, and just run for the bases, you will reach about 450kph and you will still have enough alt to dive away from some fighters but using the back gunner is the best option, dont bother with the 2 useless machine guns in the underside of the plane since they cant aim low and have very limited angles

Worst part is that this is one of the BEST bombers France can field. Which says a lot about the type of underwhelming and generally bad bombers they have.
Another thing I noticed. If you lose a single rotor/engine, better pray you have the altit to make it back home. This shit won't fly with a single engine at all.
Hey Myxa man, i know you had extensive damage, as i got the cam on you after i died. If i remember correctly you missed the complete left elevator, you had a big hole in your right wing, and for the rest full of holes and leaking stuff ;)
I test flew both planes; the B25 is close to 280mph at both 5k feet and 13k feet, actually faster at 5k. The B26 is accurate, 250ish at 5k and 270ish at 13k. Both were stock, no bomb loads, on realistic and no modifications. The B25 shouldn't be as fast as it is...
@@jengar6258 Off topic; the B29 historically also had a 20mm in the tail but due to it malfunctioning, it was removed. That's not in War Thunder either so there's that...
I hope the BR of the B-26 will go down! It is slower than a B-25, climbsrate is worse, the top turret is not able to shoot directly to its rear, because of that big rudder. The B-25 has to rudders on the tips of its elevators and so it is able to do that. I was looking forward to fly the Marauder, but I was dissappointed! P.S. You can destroy a base using 14 or 16 100lbs bombs. All other loadouts are useless!
4 x 1000 lbs will destory 1 1/3 of a base (takes 3x 1,000 lbs) also this plane is horrible. It can't climb worth shit, has no speed, terrible turning, too high of BR. Honestly they need to increase the climb rate + starting attlitude give it a fighting chance.
I spaded her in Sim as well but the fact that I was pining for a B-25 at some point makes the plane an overall disappointment. Not taking anything away from the Mitchell at all but this plane was supposed to be superior to the Mitchell.

Played it and spaded it, my main problem with the B-26 is that it's quite slow like (B-25 slow while being at 4.7) but the bomb load is good.

This thing is awesome for ground rb. 4x 1000lb or 2x 2000lb bombs do a very good job.

I mean,the bf109s are bomber hunters and they have some armour, since you'll likely hit center mass more than wings it'd be best to carry the AP belt

IRL this was considered a hot aircraft. Pilots nicknamed it 'The Flying Prostitute' because it 'had no visible means of support'.
My grandfather flew it in ww2 which is the only reason I continue to suffer with it

Just tried out in a custom battle: 23 times 100lbs for a respawning base...
