It’s called “pares” meaning pair. A sweet beef stew combined with either garlic or plain rice. Its usually a darkened soy stew. A filling meal for the common filipino. 😊

pares means pair.... its made of beef brisket with very aromatic beef broth and spices pair with garlic rice and condiments .. but the most famous to pares is the smell that makes you want to taste it .. looks not appetizing at first for not familiar about pares.. but the taste is amazing ... downside is it will make you super sweaty cause its serve hot 😂 also pares is more common consumed of worker around the area .. with limited breaktime like factory worker builder..driver.. thats why pares stall always see at the unexpected area ..if theres a labor worker there a pares nearby 😂

Why they told you to be careful is there are some rats in the slum areas who are less fortunate that that trying to find ways to survive which have the tendency to rob anyone they'll spotted, there are some victims who are trying to fight back but ended up in hospital and sometimes in the tomb, you can find that in almost every country.

Hi want to inform you that even though the locals seems nice and fun don't get too comfortable in crowded areas specially at night, we are still consider 3rd world country.
Also want to add Filipino food uses lemon, soy sauce and vinegar mix together first in small plate or bowl as a dipping sauce then place on your food cause noticed you usually just place Kalamnsi (small citrus) in your food. You can always ask locals on how to properly eat the foods to enjoy the experience and appreciate it more.
