Normal Nuzlocke Ruleset:
1. If your Pokemon faints it must be released
2. I can only catch the first Normal Type Pokémon on each Route
3. I must nickname my Pokémon
Hardcore Nuzlocke Ruleset:
4. No items in battle (held items are fine)
5. No leveling past the next gym leader/E4's highest level Pokemon (at the START of the battle)

congrats on being a new father! Yeah, Raticate is one of those frequently underestimated pokemon for nuzlockes, especially the ones that have guts. It hits a lot harder than people expect. Same with fearow and a few other early game pokemon that evolve early and learn powerful STAB moves early as well
I think Fearow could have easily replaced Cinna for the E4! Really under appreciated mon. Ratboi I think people are starting to come around on, but you're right. With guts it absolutely slaps.
I beat Lance with one in a leaf green nuzlocke once, mostly for laughs, I'm pretty sure Lance still has nightmares of a "pathetic" rat soloing his team
Congrats on being a dad! and to your wife on being a mum! The great thing about Normal Types is the wide array of moves they learn. You can have different sets for the same Pokemon and they play completely differently. Normal Types are actually pretty great.

I like to hear the nature's and such, it helps get me invested. Maybe if they are about to die or aren't going to participate in battles then skip it but otherwise let us know. And my favorite normal type has to be Snorlax I empathize with the Pokémon on a spiritual level and have been saved by it being on my team before too many times.
Also I have a question, you know meowth learns Pay Day, so why not use that to fund yourself? It adds about 100 Pokédollars everytime, mind you I still play on my game boy so I've never been the best or had the best tools to win at the slots. As for MVP... to close to call really maybe Effi is the default?
Effie was easily the MVP, the set up+heal+BoltBeam combo adds so much security to fights. Peeta also deserves Valuable Player recognition.
In terms of natures and abilities, I think you're better off only mentioning then when they're either really good or really bad.
Man I was really excited to finally see a Snorlax in a nuzlocke but my boy got banned...

I remember when I did my first Nuzlocke. It was on FireRed. At first I had gotten 8 deaths, mainly because I also decided to do post game and re challenged the E4.
I then did it again and got only one death early on due to an unfortunate crit.
Vivid: "I name my Pidgey Katni..."
Me: "Hunger Games"

Some thoughts on the nuzlocke. You got really lucky with RNG quite a few times. Especially against Brock and Surge. You would have done a lot better to pre-poison your raticate. Would have protected you from paralysis while doubling attack. Also would have probably OHKO'd Blaine's Arcanine. Overall though still better than I usually play in Nuzlockes.

To answer the first question, my favorite normal type is probably Furret, with runner ups Usaring and Obstagoon
To answer the second, I think it's cool to see the starting nature and abilities when you first catch them to get a rough idea of how they'll grow
As for MVP I'd have to say Peeta (R.I.P.) for early game and Mags for mid-late. Effie got more sweeps, but Mags just felt like a real solid core for the team, coming in on a lot of threats, making use of good coverage and just generally anchoring the team
The naming theme is one of my favorite books and movies hunger games.

There aren’t 30 normal types, so I just set the dex to 30 😅

That Blaine battle is why when I EV train in Nuzlockes and I'm not using calcs, I usually split between HP and Speed, except in cases where the Pokemon being slow is good/it's so slow investing in Speed is pointless (Ferrothorn, Golem, etc.)

Wigglytuff is my fav Normal Type. I always go through the painstaking process of going for a male.
You should do the natures and showcases for mons mons that will be important to the run. Also, it would be cool if you did a team showcase right before you start the Elite 4 battles.

Wierdly enough toucannon is my favorite, sun and moon, plus the ultra games have always been my favorite. And due to it being so early, I would always pick it up.

I like Eevee as a normal type but just him it’s useless without eeveelutions. But the Meowth line is better to me. The payday is my lifesaver and helps grind money.

I've seen some streamers add some basic info about a pokemon they catch as a small window on the screen. That way even if you don't talk about every catches nature in your video, the info will still be there for people who are interested, might be worth considering.

My favorite Normal type is probably Komala. Just such a cool Pokémon to me. But there are a lot of Normal types that I really like
Watch out for charizard if you've still got Persian towards the end because charizard can learn slash too and its almost always a crit.

In a normal type only run you should beable to use an Eeveelution. Like its first stage is a normal type, should beable to use umbreon or vaporeon.

People often over look normal types, they can learn a variety of moves and can be either speed demons or defensive walls.
Lol can i also say, that when i did a friend Locke of Fire Red, me and my friend decided to have trade evolutions be level up and any Mon can learn any HM, and my team became so OP that i twice lost the Snorlax and all I said was
"Oh well, guess my FLY Gyrados and Alakazam will just carry the team ¯\_(ツ)_/¯"
Safe to say we are never turning back on that HM setting

Raticate is a glass cannon. I usually prefer an impish nature for some defense. Then I can ev train defense and attack.
I did a Pokemon Sword Normal Type only run, the battle with the champion was so intense! Indeedee became one of my favorites from Gen 8 easily

I don’t normally limit gift pokemon, but I mostly just got the Eevee so people wouldn’t yell at me for getting. It was never once in my party

Fun fact about the game corner: I'm not sure about it in FRLG since cheating worked for you, but in the original gen 1 and 2 games the slot machines were very rigged. If the game didn't want you to win, it would spin the slots more than what it normally would've done to purposefully make you miss. They could also spin more to line everything up if the game wanted you to win instead. I don't remember how the game decided if it wanted to let you win/lose though, but I do remember some machines were also wayy better than others.
It still does that! I would use a save state to see if I could even win, and then after that it was just a matter of slowing the game down enough to line up the 7s. It’s just so time and luck based there was no shot I was going to sit there and actually play the slots 😂
@@invividcolor I wish FRLG had voltorb flip, its such a good game and also more easy to cheat on (you can find voltorb flip solvers online) and less luck based. Also I forgot to say this but congrats on being a father!

Honestly, with the game corner, I just say yourself infinite coins with a save editor or cheats. It's just a Time sink to do the gambling "legit" even if you use save states.
