Silph, I have an interesting idea on a nuzlocke... if you're willing to cheat on one of it's rules, but here's the catch... reset any encounter to it's beneficial nature of your liking, but all Pokemon in your party must have a self-destruct/ explosion in your move set leaving you only 3 viable moves(even if they can't learn it naturally but can via TM as well). Any gen with this particular plethora of encounters!
Just a note on Koga there, Haunter actually is a ridiculous hard counter to his team. Koga only has Normal and Poison moves which Haunter is immune to or quad-resists. You can just slowly wear Koga out, or give Haunter your Psychic TM to make the process faster. You even have Curse to get the jump on Muk before he minimizes too much And the best part is that you can guarantee Ghastly on the Pokemon Tower by using Repel to keep Cubone out, so literallly any FRLG Nuzlocke can make use of this. The Psychic TM is a bit of an investment but the premier uses of the TM learn it naturally at some point.

Building Gengar with ATK evs just to handle Psychics with it's ghost type attacks was a costly mistake. It might helped in the mid game, but the end game was more difficult due to Gengar missing some one-shots with Psychic Beedrill's Twin Needle should be the answer against opposing Psychics in mid game, it's death was preventable Should send in Beedrill early against Blue on a weakened Pidgeotto to deal with Kadabra and Execute later. The Kadabra danger on the SS Anne was a warning for the future, yet the same play was employed for the next fight at Pokemon Tower, finishing Pidgeotto with Arbok out again.....

FYI when going against wheezing you mentioned you were hoping for the defense drop with brick break. But that would be rock smash that lowers defense. Brick break removes barrier and light screen

Not to be weird but Gengar was level 70 at the end of lance and you had 6 mons in your party, and then you went into Gary fight with 4 pokemon and Gengar was level 72. Did you wipe and then rechallenge and make it to Gary with the 4 remaining mons in your party?
I always suspect that he rechallenges fights in other videos so I would say definitely yes. He always talks about situations with his luck being "bad" but he gets crazy good luck in the footage that he does show, likely because we only see the battles with good rng. His knowledge of the game and planning aren't as good as others who do hardcore nuzlockes like FlygonHG so maybe he's just trying to keep up in terms of entertainment
The level on Gengar can be justified with the use of candies... but the 4 pokemon on his team??? You can clearly see 2 slots of pokeballs empty on his side when before we all saw in Lance's battle that there was 6 balls there I'd be genuinely hurt, if he rematches an that stuff so he lied to us, because I really liked seeing his videos... Honestly I'm hoping for it to be some kind of glitch 😢

OK at the end of the video, and it was up against the Gyarados. He was saying a lot of words, and he was actually hitting the tone of the guy who did the voice over for Ralphie parker from a Christmas story. It was eerie how similar it was.
I know I can’t expect it every Sunday, but a little part of me dies when a new Silph video doesn’t pop up, so sometimes I have to go back and rewatch some other nuzlockes to scratch the itch. But I always feel revived when a new video pops up. Keep up the great content!

Recently beat this challenge and my final team was Venusaur, Nidoking, Venomoth, Tentacruel, Gengar and Muk. For everyone else doing a poison monolocke on this game I recommend having Toxic and Leech Seed on Venusaur, and teaching Haunter/Gengar Psychic and Thundebolt. This was my first monolocke and I had alotta fun with it, looking forward to do more
Just IMO. I think the safari zone should be an exception to the only your fist encounter rule. If the Pokémon flees, and there's nothing you can do about it, I don't think that should count since you have no control over it
Why do you always overlevel to the elite 4 cap before the rival battles? Would you consider going in to them matching the level of your rival? Because that would make them more of a challenge rather than them just being super trivial.
Chansey's hard to get and most of the other cross gen evos need to be traded so they're more out of the way, so the nat dex lock is specifically annoying for crobat alone and I thought my game was bugged when I found this out

For future reference SilphSpectre, the optional blue battle only triggers if you go north of the grass. It’s still safe to go in the grass

Something i always do on cerulean rival fight when possible, leech seed the abra so your mon (nidoking) ends up full hp
Perhaps it has been mentioned already but you could’ve taught Nidoking Shock Wave for Gyarados. Would have helped a lot I’m sure. ;)
