      Honestly these prices are insane. You get less bang for your buck than ever before with a Tacoma. You want a powered rear window and powered driver seat? That be a $4000 package add on. You want dual climate control? That’ll be an $8000 package on add.
      And, in my opinion, tuning the hybrids to focus more on power over MPG is not the right move. How many mid-size truck owners are actually towing heavy loads and need that much power? I would argue not that many. MPG on the other hand… I’m sure a lot of people would happier to save thousands on fuel

    You are spot on saying that folks have soured on Toyota. I was a Toyota loyalist. I’ve bought new Tacomas, 4Runners, Tundras and Land Cruisers. But there is currently not a Toyota I would buy. The new Toyotas are not nearly as good as they once were AND the prices are insane!

    • @davehenderson6125
      @davehenderson6125 8 หลายเดือนก่อน

      Same here, a loyal Toyota customer who's right in the middle of what I expect is their target demographic. I love Toyotas but the new Tacoma isn't worth what they're charging. They're taking advantage of customers by putting them into financial distress with insane prices. They're also taking advantage of Mexican autoworkers who can't possibly afford what they're building because of their terrible wages. The two just don't compute.
      Both these things are a betrayal to what I thought was Toyota's commitment to constant improvement & good value.
      I checked out a new Tacoma today at a local dealer, and I wasn't impressed for what they're charging. It's a nice looking truck with an imposing silhouette & wide stance, but I think the hood would be difficult to see over. Plastics are not as soft as they appear & the shiny black plastic seems easily scratchable. The headlights are small too, so they'll be covered with mud & slush in no time on the trail or highway.
      I couldn't imagine taking a $65,000 Tacoma off-road either. I'd have somebody running in front of the truck with pruning shears & a shovel to clear branches & move rocks so my investment (worth almost 2 years of retirement I'm saving for) doesn't get damaged. How much would its value drop if I got branch scratches all over it? I'm (kind of) kidding about the pruning shears & shovel but Toyota is definitely exploiting peoples' excitement for the new Tacoma with zero regard for what buying one will do to many of them financially.
      Remember that debt is the way slavery continues to thrive in the modern world, and Toyota wants to be your new master.
      Edit: readability

I bought a new Titan with NO options. It is a crew cab, auto with tow mode, cruise control, am/fm radio (which I replaced for sirius xm) , manual mirrors, steel factory wheels, etc. I added bedliner, trailer hitch, side steps, bed extender, etc. I was told it was the "commercial" model. I stopped by my local dealership just to take a look, and low and behold there was a 23 TRD Sport 4x4 in Barcelona red premium 4x4? This was late November 22. I was happy with my 18 but wanted the last gen with a V-6 but never thought I would be able to trade without taking a big loss. I spoke with them and they offered me within 2000 dollars that I gave for mine and I to called the wife and she said get it! There was a market adjustment increase on it and I was able to have that removed and received another discount for having a high credit score if I financed it with Toyota Credit. So I traded and I love my 23 [ I miss the cd player though[ I think I'm happy with my decision so far after what is happening now. These new Tacoma's are really nice but they are making them for the EPA and not the consumer and a v-6 will probably be available in the future. By the way the only reason I stopped by local dealer was to get a price on new tires at 58,000 trouble free miles for my 18 Taco! Wound up with new tires and a new Taco on top of them and paid it off in January 23.

I owned a 2018 TRD Pro (for 3 months and 2300 miles) and disliked the performance especially the 6 speed auto trans shift programming. I then did a demo ride and drove a 2019 Ford Ranger with the 2.0 turbo (auto) and just about everything about it was better from the power to the trans to turning radius and interior. The only thing about the Tacoma that was better was maybe the looks (opinion) and the ride was a bit better, but it was a TRD pro with the Fox shocks so I wasn't comparing to a standard or off road taco. Usually when new model vehicles come out they don't jump this much in price. My Tacoma was about $47,000, I think

    I agree they are overpriced. 100%. But, I don’t think anyone is complaining about way more power, and all of it more useful power out of the 4 cylinder. It’s not like the v6 sounded good. These trucks are better in every way. I think the 4 cylinder sadness is played out and is a complete non issue. If it’s unreliable, then we can complain. But we are not there yet. With that being said, my dad bought a 2022 tundra limited TRD off road with every option including the iforce max hybrid for $63k right when they came out. So, paying $66k for a TRD pro/trail hunter is insanity.

    TRD Pro is a luxury purchase. Toyota's been pushing it that way for the last several years. I'm not surprised at all that the TRD Pro Tacoma is that much. But, I will say that for a regular TRD, I don't think I have a problem with the price at all. The overall truck is a big upgrade. As far as demand goes, I think they're just making a ton of these. Some are sitting around, but if you watch inventory and availability on dealer sites, there are A LOT more on the way than there are on the lots.
