I have gear oil coming out of the inner CV joint ! Right(passenger side)On my 2009 AWD Tiguan. Im watching your video because you are mostly on right side and showing me the male splined end coming out of diff, that goes into female end of inner axle. I cant figure it out,any ideas i would appreciate!
@Motorcarnut yes, the front right axle inboard cv joint has gear oil all over it and it's spinning all over bottom of chassis, engine, etc. Definitely gear oil and not engine oil. I haven't pulled the axle yet to inspect further.
@@motorcarnut thanks for the reply, I have tried yanking with pry bars and it seems to be really stuck. It has moved some maybe 1/4" But it will not come free. I appreciate your reply though that helps with my peace of mind to prying it out.
I was thinking, on some model years I believe there was a bolt through the other side of the diff in the center that can be holding it in. The ones I did never had any but maybe you should check being your having trouble with it at least to rule it out?
@@motorcarnut Thanks for the reply. It could be but its doubtful since I have moved it at least 1/4 to 1/2" and it is sloppy but it just wont fully release. I am going to take the other axle off and check since that is the only thing I can think of to try now. thanks again.
Do you have a step by step video to remove the 2010 Tiguan 2.0 TSI 6 speed auto transmission - I’m looking to replace rear engine seal - any tho and assistance would be much appreciated - cheers
@@jmy6050 AWD - and I have no lift - so, I will raise the car on blocks - just like a few months ago when I changed the timing chain and tensioner - again, thank you for your response - cheers
Thanks a lot, I have a 2012 Passat 4motion and would not have found the front diff fill plug without this video!
You're welcome! Glad it helped!

Are you talking about the diff leaking?

@patrickfitzpatrick5917 you have to remove axle and replace the diff seal. Hopefully the bearing race is still good.
@@motorcarnut I will check into it. Should have invested in a lift years ago! Thank you for your input
@patrickfitzpatrick5917 Anytime!
Do you have any videos on how to remove A tiguan 2.0 4motion front diff
I do not. Will make one asap
How many miles should I change the transfer case fluid/oil? What would you recommend for the service interval?
20 to 30k is fine
After unbolting the transfer case I cant get it off of transmission. Is there something that holds it on more than the 4 bolts?
There is a snap ring just like an axle shaft, just get 2 pry bars on either side and jank it out.
@@motorcarnut thanks for the reply, I have tried yanking with pry bars and it seems to be really stuck. It has moved some maybe 1/4" But it will not come free. I appreciate your reply though that helps with my peace of mind to prying it out.
I have tried with two big pry bars and I can't get it to fully disengage. This is one of the most difficult things I have encountered.

Same fluid for the rear ?
No, You have to look up your particular vehicle's requirements . The Haldex uses a special fluid for instance.
Were you able to remove the transmission with the transfer case still bolted on?
You can, I removed both engine and transmission together.
@@motorcarnut ok. I think I will remove the engine too. Bit easier.
