2 things!! The bit where Tash says "Adjust my mic level" is one of the dopest effects in hip hop. That always sounded incredible in clubs on big systems. and J Ro now has a WIFE! "The color of cooking flour!"
Seen this on Video Music Box in NYC when it first came out ran my ass to Fordham Road to Beat Street quick purchased..Tha Liks and Hieroglyphics were my 2 favorite West Coast groups at that time 93'
Heard this for the time after coming in from a 1993/94 new years eve party as I left my cassette recording the radio, as we did by in the day, bought the album as soon as I saw it, still have bought the cassette and Album
LA is known for gangsta rap indeed, but i think people forget that LA also has an amazing underground hip hop culture. Tha Liks are apart of that. Everything them, King Tee, the whole crew ever put out was GOLD.
In NYC during this time they smacked us over the head with something different from the west coast. This made way for the kendricks, etc. The Liks are widely underrated!
Loved the Alkaholiks. They were full of skill, punchlines, humour and dope production! HIP HOP is missing groups like this in the 2020's...
Just saw them on Saturday, one of the greatest most fun shows I’ve been to. 🙌🏾
A solid 80% of hip Hop made after 2010 is dog s***

I'm from East New York, Brooklyn. We had a Beat Street back then on Pennsylvania ave, and my crew had the vinyl and tape. We rock with them hard.
