We’re continuing our exploration of all the best wine styles produced around the world, with the third episode dedicated to a country in the top 3 biggest wine nations and one of the most ancient ones of course, Spain. If you want to watch our overview of all Spanish wines first, head over to this video right here. Today we’re talking about one relatively small area that many may not have never heard about much because it is quite small. If anecdotal it may be called it is in terms of volume of production, when it comes to wine quality and reputation, we’re talking today about some of the finest wines on Earth and certainly some of the best vinos in Spain, so it deserves its own episode. Meet the wines from the Priorat wine region.

An eco video and lesson. We used to go to wine tastings in our little monotone years ago, They showed and spoke about Priort. I bought some, but not enough. It was delicious. I haven’t seen any since e then. That store closed. We have a Total Wine a state away from us, they had a few, none with the brands you spoke about. I hope to find a good one again. It is a delicious wine. I love a good Grenache. Thank you, as always a wonderful video. ❤

As always, Julien, great explanation about Priorat wines, their flavours and their qualities in such a short video. Great to try with tapas and - also - Mexican spicy food.

Wow, I really need to try me a bottle of Priorat, that much is clear! I don't think you mentioned anything about maturing - do Priorat wines benefit from cellaring? A few, or many years?

my favourite Spanish wines, but too expensive

Julien, I went out and bought a Priorat yesterday after being intrigued by your video. My local wine shop only had one in stock @ A$35 - so probably a 15-20 euro wine. Far below your guidence of 30-40 euro starting point. It was a RAR Essencia 2018. Wine making was of a reasonable standard (no obvious faults) but it was a very uninteresting drop. Very big, rich sweet velvety fruit (slightly over ripe in my view). Basically a fruit bomb. Unfortunately, there was no real structure, no tannic backbone of note and not enough acidity to carry it any reasonable distance into the future. Much the same as cheaply made granache here in Australia. Obviously I'm not making a comment on the general quality of Priorat wines based on this one, but that was my first experience. I will make a point of trying to find a well made one here. Is what I described above common in the wines of Priorat?

I'm super curious on these wines too. Being in australia definitely makes it hard. I doubt anything here is good value.

I live in Priorat and I can tell you this is definitely not a typical Priorat wine. You'll have to look for others you can get there. It might be a little difficult in Australia though.

In catalan you dont pronounce barcelona with a ceseo, that is for castellano, not catalan. when in catalunya, respect the catalan language.
