Namibia - Etosha National Park in Summer (Green Season)

- Namibia - the Etosha National Park - in summer. The Etosha National Park is located in the north of Namibia - its eponymous specialty is the Etosha Pan, a salt flat with an area of almost five thousand square kilometers. The word 'Etosha' comes from the Ovambo language and means something like 'large white space' and in fact it clearly stands out on satellite images in an otherwise green / brown-red landscape.
We visited the park in the Namibian summer (end of February) and, in contrast to our first visit, found a different landscape. The Etosha pan was partly filled with water - also due to the intense rainfalls in January - and the landscape had different shades of green. While this looked wonderful, it meant that animal sightings were limited because there was enough water everywhere.
For the first visit and the experience of one of the numerous water holes, animals of all kinds, from giraffes to different antelopes to zebras and even elephants at once - we recommend a visit in the Namibian winter (May/June until September/October). Thank you so much for watching! We can really recommend going there. But to see much more animals we would advise to go there during the dry season. Then the landscape is not as green but the chance to see really lot of animals at the waterholes is quite high. (Our first Namibia Video was filmed during dry season and you can see the amounts of animals there quite good.) Have an amazing weekend!

Der Etosha-Nationalpark hat auch uns begeistert, wir waren im Frühling (Oktober) 2019 vor Ort. Faszinierend.
Im Oktober ist es zwar vermutlich nicht so grün aber dafür sieht man weit mehr Tiere schätze ich. :-)

Thanks a lot - glad you like it . And yes we used a normal zoom for our Alpha 6400 (the 24-105 from our full frame camera) and a 70-300 for our Alpha 7.

The animals have plenty of food and water to nourish their body for more than a week. There's plenty of green pastures and so much dark and bright green vegetation for the herbivores to gorge themselves and get back to good health.
The burchell zebra herd will no longer have to depend on waterholes,since their grazing areas are filled with tall huge grass and scattered nutritious bushes to suppliment their diet. The wet season are often good times for the animals especially herbivores to gain their strength . It's also the time of birth.
