  • Our first video post of 2021! Happy New Year everyone. We are continuing our demo by tearing out the subfloor - which happened to have EIGHT wheelchair rails bolted to the floor, so that put a slight speed bump on the demo process. We're getting there!
If you are looking at buses to convert, or already have one with wheelchair rails, you might want to watch this. Let us know how YOU got YOURS out. It was definitely more challenging than we anticipated.

Perhaps! That’s the beauty of this type of project. You learn as you go. 🙌🏻

Can you tell me why you took the rails out? I plan on using then to mount cabinets etc. If your floor is not caving in there is no need to tear it out. Do all of your insulation and sealing on the underside.

Yea...hindsight. We did think about just leaving them in and working around them, but preferred having insulation inside and as much surface area covered with it as possible. I’d be curious to see a floor video done the way you’re suggesting though! Maybe we’ll try it on the next one. 😳

@@TeamRawlsTX Check out the Good News Bus. I'm pretty sure he did it that way.

Mine hase rubber on the subfloor. Glued so well I had hard time getting it out.
My wheel chair rail screws are all stripped out!
I have to take out the rails to repair sub floor water damage... 😒
