Professor Hubert J. Farnsworth I just watched his speech on this video. How ironic that the Little Tramp should deliver one of the most memorable and powerful anti-war speeches in screen history. And so timely for today! It was indeed, monumental.
Standalone it may not be the best movie speech, but if you take into account the amazing character development of Theoden and the fact that there were too few Rohirrim to defeat the armies of Mordor, then I think it deserves to be the best speech. His encouraging speech literally made it possible for them to defeat Mordor.
Fair enough, but as a book reader it seemed really apparently the difference in the quality of the prose, comparing Theoden's speech, originally penned by Tolkien, to Aragorn's, which was added in by Fran Boyens and Phillipa Walsh. Aragorn's speech just seemed a lot more 'modern' and a lot less poetic, so it stuck out a bit compared to most of the speech in the movie and in the original text.
My favorite pre-battle speech is, has always been, and forever more will be is the one Theoden delivered at the siege of Helm's Deep. "Let this be the hour when we draw swords together. Fell deeds awake. Now for wrath, now for ruin, and the red dawn. Forth, Eorlingas! " Still gives me shivers to this day. I liked all of Theoden's speeches, but this one took the cake for me.
I do not view it as a battle speech however. He is preaching for peace, I do not think it should even be on this list, it belongs more on a "10 greatest",
+pokente - Too close. I wouldn't pick one over the other, honestly. They give me about the same level of chills up the spine, even after watching them both a couple of dozen times.
+Matt Nar - Let's see - on one side, you have the cry of "Death!", the horns, and the charge of the Rohirrim into the massed line of orcs. On the other, you have the almost-whispered "For Frodo!" and Aragorn's quiet, solo run into battle, with everyone else following only after the charge of the Hobbits after him startled them out of paralysis.Yeah, I'd say you've got a good point there.
I've seen the movie dozens of times, but I still get chills every time I hear, "they may take our lives but they'll never take OUR FREEDOM!" So yes, I agree with the list.
My name is Maximus Decimus Meridius; Commander of the Armies of the North, General of the Felix Legions, and servant to the true emperor, Marcus Aurelius! Father to a murdered son, Husband to a murdered wife, and I will have my vengeance in this life or the next. This speech was far better than the one in the Germania battle.
Charlie Chaplin's speech should've been #1. For a man to come out of his comfortable and acclaimed silent film career to deliver a powerful speech against fascism, it completely outdoes the rest of the fictional fluff.
ben bim I'm American, mostly Irish in descent, but I'll say you are right, that speech is one not many can reach, Shakespeare was a man who's world weaved worlds into being and touched hearts and souls of the audience. Tolkien also had a gift for that so I agree the LotR speeches were all also very well done.
In my opinion lord of the rings should of been first. Not only was the speech good, But they was fighting for the greater good and to by time so peace should reign on the lands of middle-Earth Once more
I think it should have been, but Theoden's speach should be the one there, not Aragorns. Aragorn's was still great, but I actually did a warcry for Theoden's alongside the Rohiririm.
Aragon is my favorite character in Lord of the Rings, but I have to say the best speech goes to King Theoden. I might even say that Saruman's speech in the two towers might be better than Aragorn's. However, I can't really complain, we get 4 great inspiring speeches in the LotR between Saruman, Sam, Theoden, and Aragorn.
Chaplin's speech is far away the most greatest speech ever claimed at cinema Meanwhile, other movies speech are powerful and significant Chaplin's speech had and still has a great impact on our society Besides he stated this speech on 1940 and this one as a real importance on historical field I can not imagine put this one on an other place that the first one
I'm kind if disappointed that 'The 13th Warrior' didn't at least make an honourable mention with 'Lo there do I see'; I thought it was a great pre-battle speech.
Well GoT is not a movie but Tyrions (quite a short) speech in the battle of Blackwater is pretty good, Alliser Thornes speech in Castle Black is also good.
The speech Henry Cavils character gave towards the end of Immortals has always been one of my faves. That being said Pattons speech has always been my fave
Not really a speech, but my all time favorite, 'The 13th Warrior' prayer is perfect: "Merciful Father, I have squandered my days with plans of many things. This was not among them. But, at this moment, I beg only to live the next few minutes well. ... For all we ought to have thought and have not thought, all we ought to have said and have not said, all we ought to have done and have not done, I pray thee, God, for forgiveness."
Also, I'm a big fan of the Viking prayer: "Lo, there do I see my father. Lo, there do I see my mother and my sisters and my brothers. Lo, there do I see the line of my people back to the beginning. Lo, they do call to me. They bid me take my place among them in the halls of Valhalla where the brave may live forever."
romeo depaso Chaplain had that mustache before Hitler (the "tooth brush" en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Toothbrush_moustache). Hugo Boss designed the uniforms for the third reich but we still buy their products and don't associate them with Nazies. Shows you the power of symbolism and ignorance.
I realize you listed Mel Gibson's speach in Bravehart and prehaps you didn't want to list him twice but he made an even better speach in "We Where Soldiers". The Colonel's speach before they ship off to vietnam is OUTSTANDING! It speaks to each soldier and we know solders don't fight wars for politicians but for each other! That is my top choice!
Steven Forde Kept the adrenaline pumping and made me want to go fight an army of 10,000 Persians in nothing but a pair of underwear and a cape. DAMN GOOD SPEECH!
There is no question, controversy, or debate about the single greatest pre-battle speech in history, Shakespeare's Saint Crispin's Day Speech from "Henry V."
Theon Greyjoy. I know, I know, it's TV, but i was so hyped, and then whack, and I'm laughing my ass off. "It was a good speech. I didn't want to interrupt."
What about “Don’t fight for your king, don’t fight for his kingdoms, don’t fight for honor, don’t fight for glory, don’t fight for riches because you won’t get any. This is your city Stannis means to sack, your gate he’s ramming. If he gets in, it will be your houses he burns, your gold he steals, your women he will rape. Those are brave men knocking at our door. Let’s go kill them!” -Tyrion Lannister
As a Englishman, St Crispin's is just a master piece. "From this day to the ending of the world, But we in it shall be remembered- We few, we happy few, we band of brothers; For he to-day that sheds his blood with me Shall be my brother; be he ne'er so vile, This day shall gentle his condition; And gentlemen in England now a-bed Shall think themselves accurs'd they were not here, And hold their manhoods cheap whiles any speaks That fought with us upon Saint Crispin's day." It's just epic, made the more so that its about the battle of Agincourt, one of the most famous battles in History.
Arsenal8Life How come? Now please with sugar on top explain to me how the passion of the christ could be ''anti semitic'' when it actually happened like that? Oh i get it, it's not the movie, it's the drunken rant he said. Don't worry, i know now :)
was it because he was a little bit " crazy" that gave that "special boost " to the emblematic speech from Braveheart? sometimes passionate things look "crazy"...maybe there was some "Mel" in that speech..
+Jack Butler I don't think you can even put Branagh's performance as less than Gibson, much less the quality of the script. Branagh is a highly trained and accomplished stage and screen actor -- Gibson at his best is a movie star.
Does it ever occur to these movie geniuses that, when one of these characters gives one of these speeches, only a few dozen of those soldiers would actually be able to hear what the hell they're saying? It's not like Aragorn or William Wallace were holding a megaphone. It reminds me of the silly scene in Apocalypse Now with the Wagner music playing from the helicopters.
Why is that scene from Apocalypse Now silly? It was f**king bad ass. No speech needed, just "Ride of the Valkyries" 'cause it "scares the hell out of the slopes!"
Must I point out the obvious? I guess I do...Because of the noise from the helicopters, the machine guns, and the fact that they're hundreds of yards away when the music starts, AND the music is being played on some crappy sound system, there's no way the music would be heard by the villagers the way the movie makes you think it is.
When I was a young man, I had liberty, but I did not see it…I had time, but I did not know it…and I had love, but I did not feel it. Many decades would pass before I understood the meaning of all three…And now, the twilight of my life, this understanding has passed into contentment. Love, liberty, and time - once so disposable are the fules that drive me forward, and love was especially mia cara…For you, our children, our brothers and sisters, and for the vast and wonderful world that gave us life and keeps us guessing. -Ezio Auditore Assassins creed
Henry V is clearly #1. What screen writer even compares? #2 is Patton's speech. The rest you can argue about, but these are easily one and two. But I wouldn't expect today's kids, raised on LOTRs to know any better. Oh well.
While I agree on certain things in your statement, some I can disagree with, this is a country with free speech after all, so listen to my opinion. While I don't agree that Henry V should be in the top three, I do agree that Pattons speech was all-round amazing. I do not agree that it should be on this list, or any that were actually spoken outside of the world of literature and art, that should go on another list. I believe that this list should contain only non-fictional speeches as to make room for (and I'm using this term loosely) "good" speeches actually written out on paper. Otherwise many speeches should be here. Also, the fantasy world of Tolkien is much more advanced than the worlds of other writers, having written several languages and thousands of years of history, so much so that the movies only skim it a tiny bit. Tolkiens world is something many can study for years and not know everything. I believe that reading all the books is a great thing, watching the movies is something you should do only rarely. Sorry if there was any errors in my post, I was writing late at night and wasn't thinking properly. My mistake if there was any.
I agree that i don't know about Patton's Speech or that of Henry the 5th. However that doesn't mean that today's speeches aren't good. I remember getting a tear in my eye listening to King Theodins speech to the riders of Rohan. As well how good where the speeches before your time John? I read War and Peace of Tolstoy, and even though 50% of the book is drama in the families, the other 50% is war. And i've read some really strong and good stuff in there. What I try to say is, don't limit yourself to your own time. There will always be people who will say, write, create stuff that's extraordinary. There will always be good and bad quality.
I did not see that was what you where trying to go for in you comment, thank you for causing this to become another flaming comment debate on which speech was the best. Not that this section isn't already. Now that you have said that, I could not agree with you more. While several great speeches have been made in recent history, it is still a good idea to read those speeches by influential people at the time. Great speeches from people like The Prophet Muhammad, Jesus, Cesar Agustus, Queen Elizabeth, Napoleon and Bismark, all the way to Churchill and Martin Luther King JR. They can help you to grasp the events of what was happening at the time.
Actually both are right yet not completely. Britain was used first as it was the name given to the Island by the Romans. The Romans invaded "Britain" in 55BC (approx.). England is the mangling of a name Engla-Land given to area's of Britain that had been invaded and conquered by the Angles a Germanic people who invaded with the Saxons and Jute in around the late fifth century. Both names have equal validity. The name of the Country generally came from who conquered last. But that speech was written by Shakespeare in Henry V more than 200 years AFTER Agincourt. Most White English people today have the blood of many Races - Angles, Normans, Saxons, Picts Gaels and many more.
red5llaw Yes, i know this, don't worry, i read as much history as i can, unlike many people on YT i do not like to be ignorant! :D I understand what you mean, and you are right in a way, but i wanted to clarify England because when people talk about Bravehart or something, they sure like to point out that it is England vs Scotland, yet at Agincourt or something, they call an English army "British".
1984LizardKing It was more of a French civil war than anything. And even if it was England vs France, both sides can lay claim to winning it. It was basically a pointless, drawn out (To put it lightly lol!) and bloody pointless war.
"An hour of wolves and shattered shields comes crashing upon us!", but it is not this day. This day we fight" - Aragorn's speech just gives you goosebumps every single time man.
I actually think Robert the Bruces speech in Braveheart was more powerful than Walleces, at least in the context of the film. "You've blead with Wallace, now bleed with me." Really had me crying.
***** It's just England, Scotland and Wales who make up Britain. Northern Ireland is a part of the United Kingdom. The rest of Ireland aren't big fans of Britain. Sorry to be so pendantic.

You're in the front line of the King's Company, facing down more orcs than you've ever seen while Gondor burns. You've probably got a family back home that you will likely never see again. Your mount keeps bucking beneath you and shifting, its anxious cries twisting with those around you. You can't distinguish friends amidst the mass of Riders surrounding you. Then suddenly, Theoden's sword hits your spear as he rides down the line and you're snapping back to attention. You may not make it back to your family, but this is for them either way. If Gondor is lost, then they'll be next. You face almost certain death and the horns blare in your ear. Then you move. Slow at first before you can get into a gallop. Your King is beside you, and the orcs are coming closer and closer, and still you know Death is on your side. Then you ride, you ride for ruin, and the world's ending.

Hans Esa Both Theoden's helms deep speech and the rohirrim is better than Aragorn's :s
Theoden's speech was by far better than Aragorn's.
I totally agree
by about 100% better
I disagree.Aragorn's speech is damn chilling and the last one in the epic trilogy.
Fair enough, but as a book reader it seemed really apparently the difference in the quality of the prose, comparing Theoden's speech, originally penned by Tolkien, to Aragorn's, which was added in by Fran Boyens and Phillipa Walsh. Aragorn's speech just seemed a lot more 'modern' and a lot less poetic, so it stuck out a bit compared to most of the speech in the movie and in the original text.
hahahahahahahahahahahahahahaha WRONG
It's not a battle speech, but speaking of Lord of the Rings, gotta love the "Stories That Really Mattered" speech from The Two Towers.
Top ten inspirational speech?
My favorite pre-battle speech is, has always been, and forever more will be is the one Theoden delivered at the siege of Helm's Deep.
"Let this be the hour when we draw swords together. Fell deeds awake. Now for wrath, now for ruin, and the red dawn. Forth, Eorlingas! "
Still gives me shivers to this day. I liked all of Theoden's speeches, but this one took the cake for me.
There is no other correct answer.
My favourite is the one during the battle of Minas Tirith.
What I expected: Top 10 Battle Speeches in Movies
What I got: 80% commentary and a random sentence or two from each speech.
The Great Dictator is only #5 ? Charlie Chaplin speech from the Great Dictator is legendary he should be #1
it is now
I agree. Technically speaking all speeches are forms of monologue. Yet a day ago this got voted at no. 1 :L so how is it only number five now? XD
I do not view it as a battle speech however. He is preaching for peace, I do not think it should even be on this list, it belongs more on a "10 greatest",
Zach Williams Maybe you can see it as an "anti-battle speech". Tear down the regime and stop fighting.
Its not really a battle speech, more of a political speech, so shouldn't be on this list, but It is truly awesome so i'll let it go!
The Great Dictator's speech deserves at least a #2. Only because its comparable today and it was done so many years ago
Aragorn all day
i highly agree. lord of the rings is my favorite movie series :)
I think Théoden's speech was better than Aragorn's. (Not an insult to Aragorn's speech, it was badass.)
For Frodo
Ates Goksu im with u but aragon Was better it Was the last battle
HeffMoo' WRONG! He should said
“People Kind!”
I would have put Theoden's speech before the charge of the Rohirrim at number one. Aragorn's a close second.
Elliot Cameron I agree
I agree
Forth Eorlingas!
Honestly surprised that the speech from "The Great Dictator" isn't higher up on the list.
My favorite speech in 300 was the one before the final battle.
Theoden speech > Aragorn speech
Agreed 100%
Theoden's speech > Aragorn's speech
Bruh
+pokente - Too close. I wouldn't pick one over the other, honestly. They give me about the same level of chills up the spine, even after watching them both a couple of dozen times.
+mastick I agree there but then there's the charge of the Rohirrim, which coupled with Theodens speech makes it the ultimate sequence.
+RedXavier DEAAATTHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH
Théoden's speech was the best!
Theodens speeches and actions are the stupidest in history everything he does and say is like he will be disappointed if any of them survives.
Independence Day speech just made me want to fight aliens
Theodens speach at Pelenor was better than Aragorns IMO.
Death!!!!
Abhik Mazumder ....
in my opinion theoden's speach is to short.
I've seen the movie dozens of times, but I still get chills every time I hear, "they may take our lives but they'll never take OUR FREEDOM!" So yes, I agree with the list.
"We few, we happy few, we band of brothers, for he today that shed his blood with me shall be my brothers"
Henry V
Henry V speech is the most powerful. Simply the best hands down.
mmmkay maybe that is a bit too much xD
My name is Maximus Decimus Meridius;
Commander of the Armies of the North,
General of the Felix Legions,
and servant to the true emperor, Marcus Aurelius!
Father to a murdered son,
Husband to a murdered wife,
and I will have my vengeance in this life or the next.
This speech was far better than the one in the Germania battle.
Yep.
Rich Poverty too bad it’s not a battle speech
aragorn's speech is my fav
Charlie Chaplin's speech should've been #1. For a man to come out of his comfortable and acclaimed silent film career to deliver a powerful speech against fascism, it completely outdoes the rest of the fictional fluff.
i am 100% scottish but i have to say henry v st crispins day speech would make the hairs stand up on anyones neck truly inspiring,
ben bim I'm American, mostly Irish in descent, but I'll say you are right, that speech is one not many can reach, Shakespeare was a man who's world weaved worlds into being and touched hearts and souls of the audience. Tolkien also had a gift for that so I agree the LotR speeches were all also very well done.
+PalePulse yep 100% born and bred and lived all my life in ayrshire scotland,
don't talk crap mate, were very proud scotsmen
In my opinion lord of the rings should of been first. Not only was the speech good, But they was fighting for the greater good and to by time so peace should reign on the lands of middle-Earth Once more
That's the only one that gave chills going up and down my spine.
I SHALL PASS
Trevor Dillinger lol
I agree.
I think it should have been, but Theoden's speach should be the one there, not Aragorns. Aragorn's was still great, but I actually did a warcry for Theoden's alongside the Rohiririm.
What about the 13th Warrior, where the Vikings do the traditional Germanic prayer before battle? Its epic!
Robertz1986 that prayer is amazing.
Both parts of the prayers were good..from Iben and Bulwyr
Thank you
I would shit myself if I saw 30,000 spartans charging at me 0_o
I would too haha.
Lol its fine I would shit my self either way XD
To be honest just 1 Spartan would scare the living shit out of me
You'd be too busy running to worry about what's running down your trouser leg to be fair.. :/
ConorChaos 0.0
Lord of the Rings Theoden's final speech is by far the best. DEEAAATTHHH!!!!
Sam really has a great speech at the end of the two towers
Saruman??
Chaplin's speech is far away the most greatest speech ever claimed at cinema
Meanwhile, other movies speech are powerful and significant Chaplin's speech had and still has a great impact on our society
Besides he stated this speech on 1940 and this one as a real importance on historical field
I can not imagine put this one on an other place that the first one
th-cam.com/video/guYsuv89Ca8/w-d-xo.html
I think it's in the wrong list. This wasn't really a battle speech.
I'm kind if disappointed that 'The 13th Warrior' didn't at least make an honourable mention with 'Lo there do I see'; I thought it was a great pre-battle speech.
TheRichmaster24 I agree, that one always gives me chills. It's not as well known a movie as the others on this list I guess
at the time this video was made , watchmojo didn't have honorable mentions .
+TheRichmaster That was more of a final farewell or prayer than battle speech. Still a great movie moment and deeply memorable.
Well GoT is not a movie but Tyrions (quite a short) speech in the battle of Blackwater is pretty good, Alliser Thornes speech in Castle Black is also good.
Oh yeah and Theon too....even if that speech didn't really have the result Theon wanted xD
"Come with me and take this city!" - Stannis Baratheon
Short, sweet, and to the bloodshed.
Tonight we fight! And when the sun rises, i promise you, Castle Black will stand! :D
The most epic if u ask me..:P
Henry V by far the best. That scene is even shown in military training. And it's English, not British.
For it was Welsh you know.
They bid me take my place among them in the halls of Valhalla where the brave may live forever."
plops993 hey that is a good one but if you are going to say the viking prayer than say the complete one and not the one from the movie
NUMBER 5 SHOULD HAVE BEEN NUMBER 1 AND YOU KNOW IT!!!
When I clicked on this video all I could think was, "The Great Dictator" better be #1.
I absolutely agree! I cried the first time I heard it..
hey you forgot to add the 0 on 10
/watch?v=WibmcsEGLKo - Full Speech
Gives me shivers
romeo depaso Chaplain had that mustache before Hitler (the "tooth brush" en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Toothbrush_moustache).
I can’t believe Elizabeth Swann was only used as a filler clip. Nothing but respect for my Queen.
Today, at 7:00 pm, dec 28th, it's the first time I hear Chaplin speak...
Me too
Holy crap, not only does he talk he give a hell of a speech.
Number 5 is one of the best speeches of all time
Sorry, but no, Theodens Battle Cry "Forth Eorlingas!" is the very best battle speech given in Return of the King.
Braveheart, Gladiator, and Master & Commander are all outstanding movies.
I thought "Tonight we dine in Hell!" Should have been on the list instead of just a mention.
Please tell me that's a joke, lol.
Let’s go kill them!”
-Tyrion Lannister
"Half Man! Half Man! Half Man! Half Man! Half Man! Half Man! Half Man! Half Man!"
The battle speech that gets me pumped up is the speech King Henery gives at the final battle of the movie “The King”
Chalamet was good
LotR Rohirrim Charge - best.
I was just thinking that.
Yep. Hands Down!
Personally I love Theoden's little speech at Helm's deep.
That was good, but his speech at the Charge of Pelennor fields was better.
Look to the east on the seventh day
As a Englishman, St Crispin's is just a master piece.
"From this day to the ending of the world,
But we in it shall be remembered-
We few, we happy few, we band of brothers;
For he to-day that sheds his blood with me
Shall be my brother; be he ne'er so vile,
This day shall gentle his condition;
And gentlemen in England now a-bed
Shall think themselves accurs'd they were not here,
And hold their manhoods cheap whiles any speaks
That fought with us upon Saint Crispin's day."
It's just epic, made the more so that its about the battle of Agincourt, one of the most famous battles in History.
I think the speech in "We Were Soldiers" before they were sent off to Vietnam was one that is very good.
1. Armageddon
2. Chaplin
3. 300
4. Aragorn & Theoden
nice picture :)
Sorry but Theodens speech was way more epic!!!
DEATH !!!!!
Agreed. If you read it in the book, it's even better than in the movie. Tolkien had a way with words that cannot be matched.
Tony Noneya I still get chills when I read that speech.
As crazy as Mel Gibson may be today, he was absolutely phenomenal in Braveheart!
venom18s I don't know why he is called crazy. He is still great.
yippi yay Jews.
The Saint Crispin's Day speech is the greatest war speech ever written, I don't care what you guys say.
+Jack Butler Nah, the one during the Seige of Harfleur is the better one.
+MaverickMono I've always thought "or close the breach with our English dead" to be a close second to "we few, we happy few..."
+Jack Butler "We few, we happy few..." that's what ISIS members say when they see the drones coming. lol
+Jack Butler I don't think you can even put Branagh's performance as less than Gibson, much less the quality of the script. Branagh is a highly trained and accomplished stage and screen actor -- Gibson at his best is a movie star.
+manthasagittarius1 Olivier was better as Henry V.
How can the words of William Shakespeare not be #1? Henry V's St. Crispin's Day Speech is, hands-down, the best battle speech ever.
I CONCOUR!!!
its maybe patriotic, but if you are not english, its boring as hell when you compare it to other film battle speeches
@@danielzajic6789 I heard it in german english. I agree, its better in english, but not bad in german either.
My speech was the best.
If ppl realise that the whole film was your speech, it would be the number one on the list.
Dilios the Spartan so great it lasted the entire movie.
was it awesome? maybe. but why should we listen to a twice disgraced spartan?
Dilios the Spartan agreed Sparta man
AHOOO!
Aragorn speech was great but in my opinion Theoden speech was EPIC ......
-Ezio Auditore
Assassins creed
great speech, but unfortuantely not a movie one
They can help you to grasp the events of what was happening at the time.
idk about those two but Aragorn is a Fucking boss he deserves 2
Cool
*the great dictator is the best speech ever created in the history of humans* , your argument is invalid
More political, than war
Nathan Wilkes
Politics is war
Ozonencb Very well said
Ozonencb War and battles aren't the same thing
SuperBigOrlando These are speeches for those who are just about to go into battle, great dictator doesn't really apply
Elizabeth's "Raise the Colors" speech in At Worlds End should have made top 10
Should be top 5
Brannagh's St Crispin's day speech has to be the number one followed by Mel's.
How about you actually play the speeches instead of annoyingly cut in and take the mood away? (:
The Henry V speech was at Agincourt, a battle between the English vs French. Not the British vs the French.
I understand what you mean, and you are right in a way, but i wanted to clarify England because when people talk about Bravehart or something, they sure like to point out that it is England vs Scotland, yet at Agincourt or something, they call an English army "British".
Who cares, England lost that war anyway.
1984LizardKing It was more of a French civil war than anything. And even if it was England vs France, both sides can lay claim to winning it. It was basically a pointless, drawn out (To put it lightly lol!) and bloody pointless war.
True, 100 years war got both nations nowhere. Take it easy ma man you're an English guy that knows his stuff, unlike a lot of the youtube folk :)
Pacific Rim : "today we are cancelling the apocalypse"
I can't believe the Great Dictator was not placed on number 1.
how the crap is Patton not No. 1? anyway - good list
Braveheart is the best.
Perfect delivery. Perfect Score. Even the horse noise is perfectly timed.
i think the Pacific rim speech cancelling the apocalypse should be added
oh yeah :3
Henry V leads the English army, not the British army . . .
Facts!!!!!!! Beutiful facts!!!! Come here facts let me feel your factual warmth
Literally the same exact country.
Pinoy Penguin Great Britain is a collection of countries, England is just one :P
england, wales, scotland and ireland together is britian. england is a part of it, not it's entirety
***** It's just England, Scotland and Wales who make up Britain. Northern Ireland is a part of the United Kingdom. The rest of Ireland aren't big fans of Britain. Sorry to be so pendantic.
god this gave me goose bumps
Same here :D
number 1 was well deserved, gives me goosebumps everytime
The St Crispin's Day Speech from Henry V is easily the best speech of all time for any purpose.
Where's
Lord Theoden speech
'Arise, arise, Riders of Théoden!
spear shall be shaken, shield shall be splintered,
a sword-day, a red day, ere the sun rises!
Ride now, ride now, ride! Ride for ruin and the world's ending!
Death! Death! Death!
Forth Eorlingas!'
@@stevandjordjevic3032 you spurred your horse, you lowered your head, aimed your spears at mass of orcs and cried with all your might, the war cry of the Rohirrim, 'Death!!!!!!!'
@@charliezoa4899 And then mojo idiots give it 3d place.
theoden's speech is way way better than aragorn's
Ugh, theoden.
Guess where I stand on that. But its your opinion and my one is my one.
My thoughts indeed.
I'm not sure which speech I like better, but the conclusion of Theoden's speech when all the Rohirim are shouting death and the Rohan Theme is playing in full force, is probably my favourite single moment in the trilogy. I get chill every time.
actually that is probably my favourite single moment in the all of movie history :D
Only the Henry V speech gave me chills. should be #1 and it isn't really even close.
Woot! Freakin love Gladiator... Going to go watch it now!
As far a historical accuracy goes, Braveheart is terrible. Think of it as almost the same level of fantasy as 300. However, taken as just a movie, it's well written, very well acted, and all real, no CGI!
+Gumaro R. Villamil Thank you, Captain Obvious.
+Robert Gersintzky Yes, obviously.
+Robert Gersintzky Because it doesn't look fake and will continue to hold up, unlike CGI does?
+Gumaro R. Villamil Thats not true. Its definitely more accurate than 90% of Hollywood historical movies. 300 isnt historical movie, its pure fantasy.
I agree about Braveheart. William wallace was the real deal.but 300 is also a true story
1:43 The actor plays as "Maximus" in Gladiator
why did they choose the Aragorn speech? theodin's was SO much better
they DID give him an honorable mention...
agreed. Theoden's was bad ass
Hell no! Aragorn speech is the greatest! But Theoden was also realy good.
