      I literally just loaned my baby sister $100 last month in which she gave me a sad story about being stranded and needed personal items and medication costs that Medicaid won’t cover…FF to today our brother called me and told me I fell for her lies,because she did the same thing to him,and he found out she was buying drugs. So yeah,never loan money to relatives

      Exactly. I am a retired IRS employee and she apparently claimed the $4,000 as an itemized deduction on her tax return. He said, "Oh I thought you forgot all about it". I said, "Of course not". As soon as I got a job which afforded me to pay him back, I paid him back. So many times you see these people accept the loan with the understanding they're supposed to pay it back. Then later, they suddenly remember something from years beforehand that brings a 'well whaddya know!' moment that they shouldn't really have to pay back the loan after all.
    DON'T ACCEPT MONEY FROM SOMEONE THAT THEY'RE EXPECTING BACK IF YOU DON'T PLAN ON GIVING IT BACK!

    • @SRFAA

      That's true as a possibility. I'm not familiar with US tax rules, but for where I live it does come down to what type of business she has (sole proprietor, partnership, or corporation) and if she made the loan through her own pocket or the business' pocket. The latter would be weird since it'd have nothing to do with the business and she'd have to include it in her financial statements, but it's not impossible I guess. Just really unlikely.

    Can't imagine taking a sibling to court. I owed my brother for similar reasons to this lady, so I adapted to the fact after, admittedly, some minor strife caused by my stress of the situation. He gave me no time limit to pay him back, so I regularly paid what I could per week, my poverty caused by a ridiculously low-paying job. Our sibling relationship got back to normal till one day, out of the blue, he told me not to worry about the last bit of payment. The issue was over me buying him out of the family home that we jointly inherited and I live here now, mortgage free. Without stereotyping, I can't get over the hatred that occurs in families over there in the USA, all caused by #$%@ money!

    • @DualPippa
      @DualPippa ปีที่แล้ว +1

      That's very good that you have a good relationship and you both sound like responsible people. But there are many who take advantage of their family.
      I've known people who work good paying jobs, but spend their money on clothes or other things instead of rent and utilities. They then depend on family to cover their bills, never pay back and actually keep taking from family.
      So I try not to judge.

My brother actually forgot about it but I didn’t wanted a bone of contention between us. He is my brother- my only family. Money changes relationships the way it’s unimaginable. That’s what we see here in this case. It’s very sad. Pay off your debt even if you loan from your own mother… it’s not worth the stress and strain…

    There should be a law.. If you lend a family member money, you can't ever expect a repayment.. No matter the amount..??
    That law will help people saying.. NO!!

      That's a stupid law. Just because a few ppl featured on a reality tv show don't pay back family doesn't mean the vast majority don't.

    It's crazy how family members help eachother out but them expect to be paid back 🤣 we are family tf? If that's the case you better pay your mom back for raising you lmao

      I am a person of modest means. I would always try to help a sibling but why shouldn't I be reimbursed when they can afford it?

      @@angelabacker1177 if you expect a return from a family member you shouldn't even give them money. But to sue them? That's ridiculous.
