When I took a few cornet lessons from Leonard V. Meretta in the early 1960's, he advised that I should start by learning to produce a vibrato of about 6 beats per second. Is that advice still given today?
I imagine that depends on the teacher, the region and the style you are working in but I think that is a safe bet as a starting point (that is in essence what the sextuplet sixteenths in the video would end up being.) I find myself using a slightly faster vibrato in baroque and classical settings but slowing it down a bit for some romantic and 20th/post 20th century works; for me it comes down to me controlling the vibrato and not it controlling me... :)
