New subscriber here just need to say that this is by far the best fly fishing channel on TH-cam. Surprised it took this long to find this channel but im glad I did. Story telling meets fly fishing with no pretentious BS involved.
Incredible little stream, producing some big browns.....and you proved in that new simple baetis/brown fly. A successful day for sure. Thanks for sharing.
Phew. Some gorgeous fish here man. Wow! Great intro and cool stream! Loads of action and fish willing to play for the camera. Very nicely done. Getting lethal with your nymphing!
Nice fishing! Interesting water with the flood walls and old factory retaining walls running the length of your walk. I can see why you had a fair share of snags and rig wrecks! Lots of obstacles to navigate. Tons of fish!
Great vid, I appreciate when you go back over little tips and pointers. Was wondering if youre fishing a floating line and if you have a go to euro leader formula?
Thank you! I have a video explaining my setup here: th-cam.com/video/MWQlFI-btDk/w-d-xo.html Basically it's just backing > Amnesia > tippet ring > tippet
As always a fun video to watch. I always learn a thing or two watching your videos. What size Amnesia are you using and do you taper down to your tippet ring?
What are the rules with rear round trout fishing in pa is it just catch and release, certain streams, have always wondered, with seeing lots of videos in fishing in the off season
In the simplest terms as long as you're doing catch and release you can fish anywhere year round except for stocked trout streams March 1st through the opening day of trout season in April.
Thank you! It's just backing > 50ish feet of Amnesia > tippet ring > tippet Here's a video I did on it about a year ago: th-cam.com/video/MWQlFI-btDk/w-d-xo.html
Great day!! I tried the amnesia in 15#, don’t love it .. I think it still had memory and kept coiling up on things. I might need to give it some time. Your line seems like it has no memory!!
@@Brownsylvania I learned to tight line over 20 years ago. I’m learning all the euro components and I’m particular about my gear and I don’t like the leaders Iv tried so far. I didn’t like the amnesia but it was brand new, I stretched it 3 times with leather that day. It worked I slayed the fish but didn’t like the way it handled. I have another set up I’m going to try now. Keep hammering em!! I’d like to know how you find all these brown trout streams? And make heads or tales out of the pa regulations!! They are clear as mud!!
Here is the baetis nymph video: th-cam.com/video/jelLO24O5bg/w-d-xo.html The materials are also listed in the description. The brown version was rusty thread and wood duck mallard flank.
To clarify the regulation, I contacted a high ranking official in the PFBC and posed the question to him. He confirmed the 18ft max leader length has been removed from the regulations and that a fisherman is within the law if 1) using a fly rod and reel. 2) using a "fly" as defined. 3) and in a traditional manner. ie: No spinners etc added to the leader. So, You're good!
Is that a fly fishing only area youre fishing? I only ask because i thought pa had a 18' max leader length in FFO sections. Does mono setup count as "flyline" or technically leader because its mono. Just asking because id like to try it on my local FFO project water but dont wanna get nabbed. The Pa laws summary book is kinda unclear on this. It used to say specifically 18' leader but now it just says flyrod, flyreel, flyline and leader only.
This is not a FFO section. They have changed the length restriction. I'd say you could probably use this rig in a FFO, but I'm not 100% on that. I probably would now that they changed the length restriction. If you're worried though just add fly line to my rig formula and you'll be in compliance with all of their wording.
unless specifically stated then to my knowledge the length regulation does not apply. For example on Spring Creek in Fisherman's Paradise it specifically states SPECIAL REGULATIONS - leader less than 18' so it has to be stated.
I'm curious if that's because they haven't updated the signs there though because the online regs used to state 18' leader as well and they don't anymore. Also you think they'd give a list of streams that still have the leader length restriction in place.
@@Brownsylvania yea but the signs stapled to the trees seem to be fresh. The only leader limit I am aware of only applies to FFO-CR sections which are what less than 1% of PA waters? § 65.14. Catch and release fly-fishing only. (2) Fishing shall be done with tackle which is limited to fly rods, fly reels and fly line with a maximum of 18 feet in leader material or monofilament line attached. Spinning, spincast and casting rods and reels are prohibited.
Where did you find that at? I just read the 2021 Summary Book for FFO CR regulations and it doesn't say anything about an 18ft leader. I just think those signs were put up before the regulation changed or they put new ones up not knowing the wording changed.
Check out this same stream during the summer months: th-cam.com/video/rWdjnTNML1w/w-d-xo.html

Great looking stream. I love the mono rig. I switched over two years ago and like it better.
Yeah it's definitely a game changer, that's for sure.
I’ve fished this stream about 5 times and never had any luck, all I do is euro nymph. Glad to see you’re doing well!
That's alright man. Just keep improving and I'm sure it'll all come together for you. Thanks for watching!
Great video. Beautiful fish. It sure must be nice to catch 40 plus fish. Also editing is very handy option.
Thank you! I'm not sure what you mean for the editing part though?
@@Brownsylvania you mentioned how many times you were snagged and we didn't see it. I was trying to be funny didn't work.
Oh I gotcha! haha I thought it sort of had something to do with that.

Love that stream!
