When I lived in Japan (years ago) a friend and I would often take a night bus out of Tokyo on a Friday night. We could explore all day Saturday and Sunday morning. Then we’d catch an express train or Shinkansen back to Tokyo Sunday night. We saw and experienced some very interesting places (favorites include Inuyama, Geibikei gorge, Takayama and many other) “off the beaten path”. All without missing any work. Looks like the current buses are much more luxurious.
Wow, that bus looked like a luxury experience! I will definitely look into that. Saving on one nights accomadation and traveling makes lots of sense. Thanks for sharing!

8:11 "Don't be late because the bus leaves on time" Obviously man....😄 It's japan after all... You can never question their punctuality the driver will himself be sorry if he gets late
I remember there was a news article a while back about an announcement over the PA on a Shinkansen HST, where they apologised for leaving the station 20 seconds EARLY! I thought it funny at the time, but when their rail system is SO punctual they can pretty confidently post the exact second a train will be there, I guess buggering off a whole 20 seconds too soon probably actually was quite a huge deal for them...
@@ZIGZAG12345 I can somewhat understand. 20 seconds was not really a big deal, but I had more than once got late because the train left a minute or two earlier so I had to wait for the next train, and ended uo missing my connection as well. A carefully planned 15 minutes journey became more than half an hour.
@@ZIGZAG12345 😂😂 But I dunno, I think irregular arrival would be better. Back in Indonesia, the main public transport are busses and they don't really got schedule. You can wait 20 minutes just for 5 busses with exact same route to arrived literally behind each other -_-. That's why peoples always leave early so even if their bus was 20 minutes late, they could still arrived in time. But then I moved to Germany and because they have schedules for public transport, I started to plan my route so I can sleep in a bit longer and why a late or early arrival could really messed it up. 😅😅
@@vivanyatodd5036 There're a few videos kicking about here on YT of Indonesian buses that look like they're going ridiculously fast for buses (they may have been tourist/airport buses because they were all newish big and powerful European brands of buses, i.e. expensive), basically racing one another on multi-lane roads, but with passengers on board videoing it! Indian bus journeys look utterly terrifying, they must have serious faith in their Gods to do that stuff repeatedly like it's not even a big deal. They must have some genuine skill too though to get such a big vehicle through so many unlikely gaps without actually making contact with anything that often. Haha here in the UK we have similar things with buses, though not quite as bad as five same route/same time and they do generally at least attempt to follow a schedule. The bus services in cities do tend to be pretty good though to be fair.

I went from Tokyo to Kyoto with the high speed train (Shinkansen). It took around 2:30 hours only! I'm not sure about the regular price, but they have a discount price for foreigners. You just have to show your passport at the ticket boot and they will sell you this "kit", which contains not only the reduced price train tickets, but also some guides, vouchers to use in Kyoto (restaurants, sightseeings, and so on). Damn, I miss Japan! 2 weeks that I will never forget.
That was absolutely amazing! Having the creature comforts of home, within a bus!?! I would totally pay the extra money for that! Thank you for pointing out how many pit stops are made, and how long each stop is. This is definitely going on my bucket list. How amazing would it be, to take the bus out out of Tokyo-to-Kyoto, then take the Shinkansen back. Yes! Thank you for sharing! ♥️♥️
Nagoya is my favorite place in Japan, I must say. I have traveled with the Metropolitan Opera to sing in Kyoto, Nagoya, Yokohama, other cities, and always stay in Tokyo mostly. Imagine 2 weeks in Keio Plaza right by Shinjuku. I live and work in NYC. But subway to Bunka Kaikan from Shinjuku Station is really quite something. All those people. American people love space. There was none. I do love Japan.
No, it could happen in your country too but you would need to be an entrepreneur with some capital to invest. People in Europe would purchase this type of bus service but too many restrictions and regulations and socialist policies keep out new competition. Hard to compete with State-owned enterprise.

Amazing! Can you imagine such a bus and 3 toilet stops in USA? Mass transportation is so fantastic there! And clean! Just wonderful. I enjoy your videos so much! I am not able to travel so your videos are vicarious adventure for me. Thank you so much. Be safe and happy please.
Something about these tiny compartments on trains/buses/ferries is so cozy and inviting. Just looking out the window with a cup of tea in a serene journey. As a child I always enjoyed journeys as much as destinations. I would imagine who lived in the homes I passed. I would imagine the factories and what they made- sometimes I would imagine comical products and production gone awry. I think a train ride in Hokkaido in winter appeals to me most. Something about that land has always spoken to me. Sadly, I will likely never make it there. But at night before I go to sleep, I pull my blanket tight and just imagine it...
That really is a Dream Bus! Congratulations to the Japanese for providing such a luxurious and comfortable way to travel! I wish we had such buses in the States. I would take that bus anytime over a darn plane.
I would do it as well, I hate to be with other noizy peoples and the long fucking waiting...
Nobody rides an airplane from Japan to Osaka, in fact.
Edit: Wait, I forgot about low cost airlines
@@hamanakohamaneko7028 gee, ya think?
Love the shinkansen mind you.
I like your life...
I really loved the Geibikei/Ichinoseki area a great deal. All of Tohoku is so beautiful and a bit under appreciated .
Post ww2 changed japan for the better i GUESS with all the "AMERICAN" Touch! 👌 ok!

Wow, Japan has infrastructure done right. So many ways to travel that are lovely and comfortable.
Japan is so clean, organized, safe but expensive.
I don't mind paying extra to get those things. 😉
And very crowded.
@@earthangel8730 Depends where you go. The countryside is nice ;)

Wow, that bus looked like a luxury experience! I will definitely look into that. Saving on one nights accomadation and traveling makes lots of sense. Thanks for sharing!
Amazing! I’m just back in the UK after 13 days in Japan. Was blown away by everything!
Let us admit! Japan is the city every country must follow in terms of infrastructure and development!.. I appreciate the people and leaders of Japan for making it happen... ❤️ From 🇳🇪
Arrows on the ground for easier comfortable transportation....just lovely and honestly so very clean
The quietness and cleanliness of everything is oddly unsettling but also peaceful

"Don't be late because the bus leaves on time"
Obviously man....😄
It's japan after all...
You can never question their punctuality
the driver will himself be sorry if he gets late
@@vivanyatodd5036
I'm from Britain, they show up when/"IF" they feel like it here! 😂😉
@@ZIGZAG12345 😂😂
But I dunno, I think irregular arrival would be better.
@@vivanyatodd5036
There're a few videos kicking about here on YT of Indonesian buses that look like they're going ridiculously fast for buses (they may have been tourist/airport buses because they were all newish big and powerful European brands of buses, i.e. expensive), basically racing one another on multi-lane roads, but with passengers on board videoing it!
Loved the video! This bus offers great comfort and privacy - well worth the cost! Thanks for the video. Enjoy the rest of your vacation.
I'm amazed at how clean the stations were. You wouldn't see that in North America.
FYI Shinjuku is the busiest station, in the world.
Seriously you need avoid it especially in rush hour
You must see in south america

I didn't see any litter throughout the video ;-)
I cannot get over how clean the streets and sidewalks are. Very informative video, thank you.
"Tokyo to Kyoto"
What's in my mind: kyoto = to "kyo"
There is a reason for this. Google up the history
Tokyo⇒To-kyo-to. refer↑. Kyoto⇒Kyo-to.
Means. "To-"⇒Eastern. refer Japanese Map. "K(k)yo-"⇒refer↑. "to"⇒government city.
In Japan, the place where the Emperor is is considered a political place.
man you got me thinking hahah
This is such a good idea. I wish they had these buses in the US.
I heard there are overnight buses in the US.
@@Animemus LA to SF exactly 8 hours even though the trip only took 6 hrs but they take the most optimal route to get that 8 hrs sleep as recommended by doctors.
You have guns and bombs to blow up rest of the world.
@@khargalibang8461 and that's mostly on personal use not the military. The most beautiful thing about the us government is the ability to give billions of military aid to foreign countries so they can only buy Americans made weapons so some people in the Midwest can have a descent paying job even though their jobs kills thousands.
Wait seated my friend. With a president that has put so much money into the car industry I don't think buses nor trains - both overnight or just in general - will arrive in a near future. Meanwhile Japan and Europe continue to develop modern transit systems.
One thing my husband and I noticed was how immaculate this bus was. In the US it would be filthy, I guarantee it. We had a wonderful ride.
It’s incredible how Asia is so much more ahead of everything we have in North America for travel. We are so brain washed in using our cars or just planes we pretty much destroyed any other type of travel possibilities
Patrick Ols Not so. We just don’t have the population density to support this. We can’t have successful rail (except in cities or the Boston-NYC-DC run) because we can’t make it profitable with our low population density. www.worldometers.info/population/china-eu-usa-japan-comparison/
Only Japan.
Bcoz North of America has plenty of lands for roads and cars.. 😅🤭
E Y not really
Not asia, only japan...
I really like the way you make your videos. Actually, it couldn't be better. You show what really is interesting and informative for us. There is no annoying background music neither endless talk. Furthermore, your English subtitles are very objective with a pinch of kindness. Congratulations for your excellent work!
5 years ago when in Japan i used a self propelled rickshaw to get around city and rural areas, very cheap and reliable transport.
I didn’t know such bus service exist. Thanks for the info, really helpful!
Marvelous! Night buses are a good idea, particularly those with enough space to sleep properly. I did most of my travel around Europe on night trains. With both, you save time and don't have to pay for accommodations.
The drawback are drivers.
OMG!! This bus liner was by far the best I've ever seen!! The station was well organized and super clean!! When I travel to Japan or should I say travel within Japan!! This is definitely the way I want to travel!! Great Video Thanks 4 Sharing!!🇺🇸✌🇺🇸

Everything in Japan is always super clean. Their cleaning ladies do their jobs.
Only in Japan. You will never experience this kind of bus luxury from around the world, but only in Japan. ❤😍👌👍💪💪💪

No, it could happen in your country too but you would need to be an entrepreneur with some capital to invest. People in Europe would purchase this type of bus service but too many restrictions and regulations and socialist policies keep out new competition. Hard to compete with State-owned enterprise.
There’s a sleeper bus with actual beds in California. So, no, it’s not “only in Japan”.
