100% Gawx is arguably the best filmmaker on YT. And he's young so he's only going to get better. Tons of inspiration. I even saw a Sam Kolder video that was for sure inspired by Gawx. Epic!

Totally agree with this. You can easily get lost in the "enjoyment" which is exactly why you need to take notes after because it is just done THAT WELL.

SORRY BUT i've always liked GAWX because of his art and personalty. The number of small art youtubers that i follow whos editing is bad is ginormous , i like people of they're art and not their editing skills personally. As a professional mid 4A artist i have multiple styles and one of them is literally inspired by his! (its pratically his tbh) i think GAWX art is beautiful and he gained his followers because of his art

gawx is alway god of video creation but he started it seriously in 2020 from that day to now his all videos are insanely addictive and perfect there is no chance of boredom even i have subscibed him in my every device so that i can not miss a single video of him, just like he is printed in my mind permanently.
well as he mentioned about his inspirations no doubtly music videos are the first thing who taught gawx for perfect edit.

I know the video doesn't focus on his nationality, but Mexico is a place of many amazing cinematographers and directors... I think 6 of the last 10 oscars for best director went to Mexican directors, and in cinematography, Rodrigo Prieto and ”El Chivo“ Lubezki have achieved (I think) even more oscars... I don't know if Gawx studies cinema but Mexico has some of the best Film schools, festivals and competitions for aspiring directors in the world...

I stumbled upon GAWX for the first time yesterday looking around for vintage color grades. Very early on, by the 2nd or 3rd video I came to the realization that most people probably weren't there for the physical art itself, the thought "ohh, I see, people think they're here for the art, but the product is actually this editing style and how he actually shows it" crossed my mind. Made me realize you can convincingly share anything you do on this platform if you disguise great editing as the subject matter of the video itself. (The physical art is really good too, not trying to diss there haha) Great video!

Great analysis and great video, although I'd say half of Gawx's art is specifically contained in his editing talent. Just have a look at his second channel where he posts breathtaking editing/scoring/colorgrading masterpieces.

When I watch a Gawx video, there's so much more to it than just said; he's a amaster at CC, cinematography, timelapses, and audio design. This guy is incredible.

That is exactly wat I said to myself when I saw his videos. His art almost seems like an add-on or a sideshow. Even his voice is pretty 'strange' with the accent. But the extremely fast editing and using the old cinema tricks like 3sec shots is fairly insane.
Just goes to show that the ability to make a “film/movie” can be a super power when put on top of any other niche on YT which is so dang cool
@@jakefelzien It can be, but I know many great artists, that have very high skilled videos, but if the youtube algorithm somehow does not pick you up. It can be dang hard to go up that youtube ranking. In my opinion, there is alot of work to be done for those people, as there is defenitely an audience for them. Sometimes you see a channel with many vids that have a view rate of between 5 to 10k, and one of the videos is pushed and gets millions of views. This does not prove that 1 video was amazing and the rest was not. It almost feels like gambling. The worst video from my channel got the most views (123k)

20% x 5 = 100% so
24 seconds x 5 = 2 mins (120s)
8 min 47 seconds = (convert mins to seconds) 8 x 60 = 480 + 47
video is 527 seconds long
100x24= 2400
2400/527= 4.554%
24 seconds is 4.4554% of the 8 mins even more kudos to the point you are trying to make!

This is a beautifully made video. Well done! Something that actually makes me quite sad is how little this quality translate into scaling a channel. The time and effort into creating content like this only gets appreciated by a small few. Edited immaculately, color corrected, cinematic storytelling. It is infinitely more detailed and difficult to produce. Everyone watches it and thinks to themselves how nice it looked, but it often gets overlooked. Why is that? I have a theory it's because when we watch something to this caliber we fully invest our mental energy into consuming and experiencing it. This makes us appreciate it more, but I do believe that it inherently inhibits overall retention. We have to digest the content after watching it. This doesn't provide a great avenue for the viewer to immediately click onto another video and fall into what I call a brain rot rabbit hole. It's not all bad though, because I do feel like the quality will get you a lot more brand loyalty.
That’s why I don’t just make these. They take forever. And I love it. But there’s been plenty of episodes with other editors as well as just “editor talks to camera” that takes me 20 seconds to edit 🤘
The “brand” if you want to even call it that is “Jake the editing dad” and that can take many forms 🫣

I have been following gawx before he even got his 1mil subs, I think it was on his 600ish or less (on my other ytb acc that I lost), longg before his face reveal, I always love his editing and the music he use, and yeaaa Im surprised he was that young with that great taste, I wish him to grow bigger with a great life!!

The Homie Gawx, at first I watched to see the cool Artwork style, but once he booted up the Editing skills and shots, it got me more hooked on having me watch my own patterns of reaching to his video. Do I look away or reach the keyboard or mouse to skip. Where my eyes go. Every small detail of it. I'm making sure to take note. As someone who creates art myself (Music) I've been on a struggle to figure out the puzzle piece of _How to make my music creation video un-skimmable_ And watching Gawx's videos helps me get closer and closer to that goal!

So i checked this gawx guy out, and i couln't make it through the first minute. This is just sensory overload and just plain annoying. Has the bar for good content sink so low?

I would definitely give him another go. I watched lots of his videos and it's true that some specific old videos are too frantic, but the new ones are amazing story telling with good peace. They have good contrast with fast-paced and slow-paced sections. Maybe you just started on one of these older videos, you can tell he got better and better (and his family, he says he gets help from them with editing/grading).
