yes! let us crush the bloated overpriced "competition" there is NO REASON for production to be as convoluted as it is on Protools/etc!!! Especially in this age of computing power!
i am so glad i found this, i been looking for a good free sampler forever now (good thing i use reaper lol) i tried using big fish audio momentum a few times but i didn't like it. love how there is such an easy way to just slice and play out the sample. thank you so much for this video!
Great tutorial! I think its worth mentioning that the low cut/high cut filter settings are not actually changing the wavefile @13:24 but they are there as part of the detector circuit. So for example, if you have a full drum kit but you want to use only the hats as a guide for transients/slices, then you filter out the kick, toms and snare drum using the high pass filter (the waveform will change accordingly to reflect what the detector actually "sees/hears") and then MKSlicer will add slice markers based on what you have't filtered out, i.e. the top end/hats. I know you didn't mean it will actually EQ the wavefile, just wanted to add this comment to avoid someone thinking it will actually EQ the wavefile and skip on using it as it is a very handy tool inside MK Slicer. Also being an Ableton user, I wish there was a "copy to siblings" parameter for RS5k, so if for example you've sliced a drum beat to 32 slices (32 instances of RS5k) and you wanted to change a parameter on one RS5k instance, it would copy to the rest of the 31 instances of that channel, automatically. If anyone that reads this comment, knows a way around this, it would be great to know. Still MK Slicer is absolutely brilliant tool for Reaper users and v3.02 adds so much cool stuff.
Good catch there are other things I left out ..🤔 but thanks for the comment... Are you trying to change every cut you make it just one section when you are slicing in the RS5K?
@@learningreaper I am not sure I understood what you meant, but I don't slice to RS5K after doing it once and seeing that it actually opens many instances of it to cater for the amount of slices...if that is what you meant anyway. The reason being if I want to change envelope settings, for example, in order to make things tighter, I have to manually adjust for every instance of the RS5K and life's just too short for that.
Thanks for the video. Reaper explored for the beat making process is much needed and, glad you are doing all this great content highlighting just how powerful Reaper truly is. (I'm hopping the MK Stutter script gets an update too at some point).
It just got an update the 3.02 it's the one I'm showing in the video... I'm so proud that people in the community make these awesome scripts for Reaper... Let me know if you have questions... Thanks for the comment...😀🙏🏾
Thanks so much for making this video. There are a few videos on this extension but none like yours with an explanation. Thank you so much for doing this video. You've made things so much clearer.
Yea.. the guy who makes the tool has some videos to show how it works but he doesn't talk during the video and I have been using this tool since his 2.0 version and had to let people know how good this slicer is in Reaper... Let me know if you have questions..😀🙏🏾
I always wanted to get rid of MPC's software when flipping samples and use Reaper. I knew that MK SLicer exists, and there is Reasamplomatic but I was not aware how they can be used really, when making a beat. Great thanks for showing this, now I can really leave within Reaper with all my stuff :D
That's what's up... Yea Reaper has definitely been a great option for me to get work done ... Thanks for the the great community that makes these great tools to help with the work flow... Thanks for the comment...😀🙏🏾
Man... There is so many cool user created extensions and plugins in Reaper. What other DAW lets people have this much control of it? I absolutely love this DAW. I think about 45 seconds into your video, I was like, "Yuh... I need this...", and I got MK Slicer. Great video, man! You got a Sub from me. >M
This is an excellent tutorial. You used correct terminology throughout the entire video. You kept the background music low enough so that it didn’t interfere with your speech. You included plenty of examples which made the concepts clearer. 21:03
Whoah you are awesome! Thanks so much!!!! There was a time when I was all about slicing and I tried a number of different programs for it. You may not remember but ConcreteFX made a VSTI called Microdicer, it strongly resembled the actual slicer itself and had a lot of the same features. One thing it sorely lacked was zero crossings, IIRC. But I used to use it in the same way as you're doing here, if not as well. And it could export all the slices all mapped to notes, but this is def improved over that. And Liveslice really rocks although it's pretty old now. But it was way ahead of the game back in the day. It let you take a sample, slice it up either by meter or w autoslice, then used those slice points as a template that you could run live audio through, refreshing every bar. And then it let you make several templates and map them to MIDI notes. So it was pretty deep, but lacked some of the finesse that I can see this one has. Anyway, excellent video, thanks again.
That's what's up... The MK Slicer is a really good tool for sure... I like you have used many samplers and slicers ... Also used a lot of different DAWs but this one was just right not to much not to little... Thanks for the comment..😀🙏🏾

Any ideas, or is there a way I can contact you to troubleshoot this? I'd really appreciate it!

Okay, I've spent a bit of this weekend with MK Slicer and its behavior is much like 3rd party slicing software I've used in the past. I fooled around with it for hours without any problems, though I could probably dial things in a lot more. And some of the tutorials are showing how it can be used for all kinds of comping techniques and stuff. Well I don't know if I'll ever make a "song" or whatever, at least for this weekend I'm content to autoslice up Donald Trump reciting his beloved "Snake" and wing it from there. So it's just like Microdicer except it's easier, and less prone to crashing.
did everything and getting this ReaScrpt Error: cool_MK Slicer.lua:10202: attempt to call a nil value (field 'MIDI_GetRecentInputEvent') could you please help

I'm considering switching to Reaper and this video is really helpful in seeing what I'll be able to do. This is really cool.

Is there a way to assign the chops to midi drumpads?
Yes ... You can go into the individual RS5Ks and change the note to whatever your pad is .. hopefully your pad is set to chromatic that would be the easiest way but if not you will have to manually assign them.. hope this helps
Yea it's a great tool for sure .. thanks for the comment...😀🙏🏾
It doesn't work : When I click on the "MIDI" button, il creates a new track but no sampler on it.
Do you have it on sampler... Trigger or pitch detect under the midi button?
really cool

🤔
It looks like recycle and Dr.rex in Reason.
Now that you say that it kinda does .. 😂
It would be a lot easier to follow if you weren't playing music in the background.
I got ya .. thanks for the comment...😀🙏🏾
it still has some clicks tho
You can fix that in the RS5K or use the zero crossing to cut the sample to stop the pops or clicks
@@learningreaper i think you were using the zero crossing
did everything and getting this ReaScrpt Error:
cool_MK Slicer.lua:10202: attempt to call a nil value (field 'MIDI_GetRecentInputEvent')
could you please help
I did get that as well I had to update the scripts in reapack and it started working again .. hope this helps...😀🙏🏾
@@learningreaper thank you so much for the reply! how do i update the scripts tho? just delete them and install again?
@@benjaminshkurka3261 repack> sync packages.

What do you use for a sampler?
@@learningreaper serato 2.0 of course lol
