However, since I'm now trying to move away from Windows, I've decided to fully embrace Reaper - and it's so amazing that there are all these scripts for free. But they're not just free - THEY ARE SUPERB! Props to everyone.

This is so cool. It'd be cool to also be able to assign a send/return, so that you could enable something like a reverb send, where the tracks that are further back get more of the send, and the tracks that are closer get less - I have no idea if that would work though. Amazing script, great work MPL.

Fabulous, must try this one. As a bedroom producer having to try and learn everything I know without any support, one thing I've never really managed to sort is mono compatibility issues if I make good use of the stereo field in a mix. I say to myself that people who don't listen to my mixes on a stereo system will just have to put up with what they get, but when I lose something like a solo piece or significant instrument break on a mono speaker it is very disappointing. Do you have any advice on how I can sort this problem within a Reaper only panning layout (so without use of Panknob, widening or m/s tools etc). Always enjoy your videos - keep 'em coming 🙂
I believe there's a button on the master track for mono. I have it bound to a hotkey so I can quickly toggle it while mixing. You should be able to hear if you have phasing issues because things will have strange volume (too loud, too quiet, etc) when in mono. Toggle the mix between stereo and mono while mixing for a bit on each and you'll discover the rough edges on your track.
@@justingodesky5912 Thanks for that. Dont think Ive ever tried that one but I have things like YouLean and Metric AB on my monitoring effects set up so can use those as mono testers. The problem though is not so much the testing as getting panned tracks to get heard on a mono listening device. Id have hoped they'd be picked up and just played in mono but its as though half the volume is being lost as it the stereo track isnt summing to mono. With no mentor to ask Im left wondering if I'm doing something wrong. Should i be recording to stereo tracks instead of mono, for example? All advice welcome!

implemented in 2.05, but I think you mean mostly do a 3d instead 2d, because Y is a 2d projection now. The question is still open - if x is a pan, volume is a Y, what is a Z? Also should Y also be mapped to a shelf EQ?
@@michaelpilyavskiyamazing! I think that is the best representation you could get without introducing another dimension and while keeping it simple. It would be really great if you could map any plugin parameter (similar to the way Reaper plugin host allows you to) to the x/y movement alongside the pan and volume, but that would probaby be a bit tricky to implement (parallel VST pipeline?). 3D would be a whole another beast, but I think that it would be slower to work with. for me the magic with this is how FAST you can set the rough position of an element in a mix!, take the "rough" with a grain of salt :)

Thanks for this video and what a great tool ... The only thing or maybe I was missing something is how to undo the panning and volume changes done by this script. Do you maybe have a hint for me? And thanks again 👌
Oh, just found out that the "background" version is giving undo points (but quite a lot :) and then it's also mirrored to the "normal" Version. When both are open the movements of the normal version aren't reflected to the background version, only when selecting another track and then back to the one that was changed before.
@@bernhardk7929 but why not just use one of them instead of both? The number of undo points depends on how often you let go of the mouse. Each click and drag is one action. Just like if you move a pan knob, release it, and move it again, it's 2 actions. If you release the left mouse button, and then move it again, a new undo point is created from there.

... am a convinced fan of Michael too, but this script does'nt work under windows 7. - Don't know why. - His script always tells me to load version 3.55 or newer, still after it is done. Any good advices? - 😥
Install "Various functions" package, it is a framework for lot of my scripts. Unfortunately ReaPack doesn`t support yet high level dependencies, so I have to ask for separate install of this package on almost any script initialization.
Please advise me. To access this script and others, I just download/update reascript? I am not sure how to activate them in reaper. Any advice is appreciated. Thanks.
Go to extensions>reapack>browse packages, search for visual mixer and right click to install/update. Hit apply and close the window. If you're fresh installing scripts, some need a reaper restart to show up. Do that just to be sure and then search the action list.
@IDDQD This is not going well. I already have Reapack installed and (from you great videos I think) I may have some MPL stuff already installed. I pasted the MPL Repository link and hit Go but got warned that MPL was already liked to a different URL and did I want to over-write that. I clicked Yes but all I can see in the Actions list is mpl_Visual_Mixer.lua. When I run it I'm told its not on my F: drive (which is where I run Reaper from) even though when I inspect the F: drive it is there and it seems to be in the right folder. The action mpl_VisualMixer (Background) isn't showing in my Actions list, unlike that shown in your video. Being honest, I think an idiots guide is needed for us non-geek musician producers as I find the whole installation of Reapack stuff pretty baffling (though I have managed to get the job done on previous occasions!). Thanks in hope.
my repository along X-Raym is bundled into Reapack installation. For installing new script you don`t need to install it again. Instead: go to action list -> type "browse packages" -> find "Visual mixer" -> right click -> install new version (so you change STATE of this package from none to "Install this after next sync"). Then, run action "Syncronize packages". That will update existed script or install new ones if you marked some for install. Another option is to check "ReaPack: Manage repositories..." / Options / Install new package when sync. CAUTION - this will install ALL available stuff from installed repositories.
@@michaelpilyavskiy Thanks so much for taking time to reply with those suggestions and i'll give them a go. My trouble is im a musician trying to understand the sophisticated technology of Reaper, the outer reaches of which can be quite challenging to an ageing non-geek like me ha ha. 😬😆

Install "Various functions" package, it is a framework for lot of my scripts. Unfortunately ReaPack doesn`t support yet high level dependencies, so I have to ask for separate install of this package on almost any script initialization.
@@michaelpilyavskiy Thank You very much... now it works. - 📰 Sound Taxi Project ( Musician with Label ) 👍
Its a gem!
This is amazing
Superb...ty
I like this!!!
Wow!
Right?
Can the visual mixer show tracks as icons not names?
not currently I'm afraid :(
2.09 will allow to show icons + hide names
@@michaelpilyavskiy thats exciting! Great job Michael. Your scripts should be intergrated in Reaper by default.)
This would be way more useful to understand if you showed an example with different actual audio tracks, not duplicates of the same bits of audio.
they're not duplicates
🤯🤯🤯
🧨🧨🧨
Actual gems here.
Can you make a video on Playtime though, and maybe get in contact with the scripter.
Been meaning to do it forever!! One of these days :)
Alms for the algorithm
nice
Please advise me. To access this script and others, I just download/update reascript? I am not sure how to activate them in reaper. Any advice is appreciated. Thanks.
Go to extensions>reapack>browse packages, search for visual mixer and right click to install/update. Hit apply and close the window.
If you're fresh installing scripts, some need a reaper restart to show up. Do that just to be sure and then search the action list.
Ace!
سلام! زنده باد!
تازه کشفت کردم!
Kheilie chakerim :)
Guess it beats actually using the tracks in Reaper itself? lol
For lots of tracks yeah but I'm not constantly whipping this out
Thank You!!?
You're welcome???
Goodbye to you, relay.
Mpl: putting plugin makers outta business since 2013 :)
I would not be using Reaper if it wasn't for MPL. His stuff is essential.
Nice song 😁
Nice singer :)
Definitely looks pretty cool, but it isn't free
Thanks mpl for the response. Mike lmk if that solved the issue. I'll make a reapack tut one day but in the meantime, check out the reaper blog for a video description.
i had the same problem... here is how i solved it:
reaper did not found the "various functions" script from mpl... browsed for that package > installed it ... then it worked for me!
@@finngoldmark3108 niceee! I think I ran that ages ago and didn't know it's one of the things that does :)
This has some big gains over iZotope's visual mixer. Looking for to giving this a go.
I really liked the iZotope version but it never really made it to my template just cuz of all the extra steps involved. This just integrates so well :)
