Ironically, I feel like this could have worked more if your wingbacks had less defensive responsibility. They were playing as if there were centre backs next to them, without them playing everyone onside it’s effectively a super aggressive offside trap.

Couple of years ago that attackerless tactic was pure murder. It was one of the best tactics I've run into in series of FM. I tested it with Tottenham and then with finnish side HIFK to see how big upsets the tactic can cause. It was like cheat code. I am not sure who youtuber made video about it.
Since the game recognizes anything with wingbacks as a 5 back, my guess is the game considered the wingbacks as part of the defensive line and so they played everyone on the whole time. Might have been better off trying defensive wingers or CMs on defend in front of three HBs
I'd love to see some of these tactics really tested out and honed on lower league teams, like a Scottish League 2 team. I know e.g. the no wide players was tested with Doncaster, but I reckon with the tweaking to roles etc done on a lowly team it could be fun with some of these tactics. Maybe not 'Stranraer with 10 playmakers', but something that they do at least have players for!
I used the no midfielders formation with fm 19 with 3 AMs and 2 inverted wings backs 2 ball playing centers backs and with wingers in midfield,I thought I was crazy 😂but you’re insane 😂I love it.
You are killing it with your wing backs. They always kill the offside situations. Change em to defensive midfielders. So the only way for the other team to not be offside would be to play the pass while still in the own half

I think you should have tried one without wingbacks because they kept playing the striker when he was in your half offside, and also marking the player rather then position i think makes them man mark more tightly
