Reims tramway is a transportation system in the French city of Reims opened in April 2011. It travels through the town from North to South, along a 11km long track. The project is set to cost €342,780,000 - i.e. $504,120,000

These Alstom trams look pretty slick with that unusual front-end styling. I guess the power supply is through the third rail in the middle of the track?

J'aimais beaucoup les véhicules de transports en commun dans leur livrée à damiers jaune/noir, disparus à présent, et c'est dommage. Les tramways se démarquent par leurs harmonieux et subtils dégradés, et leur face avant - Champagne oblige - en forme de flûte pour vin blanc ou subtilement rosé à fines bulles.

They also have overhead power supply outside the center - once you get to Boulingrin (just beyond the station) they switch. See 8:15!

I think they have the ground supply for the center - where there are older buildings.... that is their reasoning

Oui c'était dans le perspective d'une 2ème ligne est-ouest, or c'est abandonné à cause d'un coût pharaonique.

They're visually unappealing and obtrusive, which they want to avoid in historic town centers with sensitive architecture. Outside of the historic section, they have the overhead power supply; these trams can switch between the two.

Battery powered is the way to go

ground power supply system is costly but not difficult to maintain... the problem is the salt when it is snowing. the overhead power supply system is not elegant and the center city is protected by unesco. It was also a demand of the population of reims to make it build... this reasoning is tipicly french mdr
