  • The system consists of two interurban lines, connecting central Lille to the nearby communities of Roubaix and Tourcoing, and has 36 stations. The lines were built at the same time as the boulevards linking Lille to its two neighbours, and the lines run on reserved track within the boulevards for most of their length.

    Narrow gauge tram system in France? Isn't the tram in Paris standard gauge? Same in Brussels, right? I like the look of the train and track. I'm pretty sure the trains have a higher capacity than the Lille Metro, which is kind of funny, although I'm sure the frequency is less than the metro.

      The Paris tram is standard gauge like every else cities in France expect of Saint-Etienne and Lille who are in narrow gauge

    We can notice that the propulsion is the same as in NYC's R110A and Toronto's T1 !

      Thats clearly far fetched..... The only conclusion one can draw here: They all use some frequency dependend control mechanisms. But that is standard today for every electric train......

      The system was made by the American company Westinghouse. It was also used in Taipei on the C301, in LA on the P2000 type, in Seattle on (believe it or not) the Breda Duo-Busses and in Dallas on the DART. However I like it best on the T1 because local bias.

      unlike conventional trams, they have hid the driver to the very left (if you are looking straight at the tram).

    I've been offered a job in Toucoing. Where would I want to live if I don't have a car? In Tourcoing, Roubaix or Lille? I've read Roubaix and Toucoing are dangerous. Which is worse? Lastly, how long does this tram ride take from central Lille to Tourcoing? Thanks

    • @danmetro98rb
      @danmetro98rb 6 ปีที่แล้ว

      Christopher Peppiatt Actually, there is also the metro going to Roubaix and Tourcoing, which is even faster. So if you want, you can live in Lille. But sorry, I would not be capable to say how long the trip exactly takes by tram. With the metro, it was around 20 minutes from Lille city centre if I'm not mistaken.

    • @Tryphon-mb5jc
      @Tryphon-mb5jc 6 ปีที่แล้ว

      Tourcoing isn't really dangerous, I mean that depends where you live. Roubaix on the other hand is an other world.
