Thanks for this. Got a 2024 MME Rally this summer. I will be interested in what that actual impact of winter is when it arrives. But I at least have some idea of what to expect.
Ni Hao! I've had the chance to visit Taiwan once and it's a beautiful place, I hope to make it back someday. Congrats on the Mach-E! What do you mean by iOS? Are you referring to Apple CarPlay from an iPhone?
My Mach-E Chinese edition just update Carplay last month after driving for a year and a half...but still upgraded the Qualcomm SA8155P for free last year🤣@@studzstudios
I notice that you are heating the interior to 72 degrees along with heating your seat and wheel. That is a lot of juice spent on heating. I have found on the coldest days that putting on some fleece and a sock hat that allows me too turn the HVAC down to 62 with one bar on the seat. On the moderately cold days (40s) I turn the heater off if I am trying to maximize mileage, with no real loss of comfort. We do exactly the same thing in our house.
That sounds like a decent deal, but not sure what the used market looks like in you area. It depends on the mileage as well. Is RWD with the standard range battery okay for what you need?
@@studzstudios I think so, i don't have a condo charger. My work has free chargers and mostly i wfh. Also, right across my street has level 2 shopping mall charging $1~1.5 CAD per hr. When i test drove however, the front camera was not working and said it requires a service, also auto-door closing had a button and made some electronic sound but did not function. Not sure, i think i might just go for model 3 used for maybe a bit cheaper with higher mileage to play safe and because i do not own a private charger.
If you're able to use the work chargers on a regular basis, that could work. Charging at the shopping center could be a backup, but that would be a drag if that's your main charging option. If you go Model 3, you'd have the same charging dilemma, right? That's interesting about the camera. I've had mine get temporarily blocked from driving while it's snowing, but otherwise no issues there. The auto closing door, was that the rear hatch? I haven't had any issues with that opening/closing. The main issue I've had is the doors don't open consistently on the first try when using my phone as a key.
The high-voltage battery contractor weld issue? I only got the software recall and did not get a hardware recall for that since my Mach-E is the standard range NCM battery. The early GT and Extended Range models are the ones that may get the hardware recall. Video of my experience so far: th-cam.com/video/8N0ue3dwfIY/w-d-xo.html
No, not yet. Just resistive heat (which warms up nicely, but not as efficient). The 2024 F-150 Lightnings have heat pumps now, so it's possible future versions of the Mach-E will get them.
Thanks for the comment. It snows where I live off and on about ~4 months of the year. You really only use chains if you're driving with snow depth/ice on roads and you can't go above 20-30mph with them on. The all season tires have good cold wet traction, just not good snow/ice traction, so it does fine when temps are above freezing, which was the case here. The roads were just wet. About 5 degrees colder and driving conditions would have been much worse.
Good test. Will need to try something similar here in northern Alberta, Canada where the temps drop to -30 degrees Celsius.
Thanks for this.

Nice! Let me know how it does it the snow!
Hi!
I’m from Taiwan!
You give me lots of confidence!!!
My Mach e iOS coming soon!

@@studzstudios sorry for the typo!!
I mean is coming!
Now I’m driving Mach e!

Yeah, definitely agree. I talk about this in the video at 9:10.
i like to stay toasty warm in the winter car....
Who wants to spend $40k to do that?
What about tire pressure. Did you confirm 38 psi cold prior to start.
I did, the tires were 38 psi. The car actually recommends 39 psi on cold tires, so they could have used an extra 1 psi.
should i buy 2021 RWD select at $30,000 CAD? cash

I'll stick with my Ioniq 28. Heat pump. 70 kW charging (max). Very efficient. And surprisingly large trunk for its overal size.
Thanks for watching and glad you like your Ioniq!
did you end up getting recall?

Ok
does the Mach_e has an heat pump?

Heat pumps aren't that great if you live in areas with very cold winters (5F or colder). Resistive is probably betters in those conditions.
Why are you driving in the snow??? Do you at least have tire chains on? It seems really dangerous.

@@studzstudios Aha! I'm from Los Angeles and have seen snow like three times. I've driven in snow once. That was enough.
@@KaiPonte Haha, can't blame you!
Montreal here, winter tires, never got chains, AWD, never got stuck in the snow
Not to bad, but an EV should use a heat pump.
Yeah, thankfully Ford is adding one to the Mach-E for the 2025 model year.
