    The issue with the software not recognizing/detecting that no charge has happened at the non-existent or inaccessible charging station and routing you to an unreachable destination is a serious flaw. It seems to be a classic oversight of the designers and developers of this software caused by incomplete understanding of the use case and its context. Please do the entire Mach-E family a favor and report this through Ford Pass. Less observant drivers than you could get themselves into serious trouble.

    That was a cool road trip, thanks for sharing! I appreciate that you said something to the Polestar lady. It’s odd that she didn’t care that she racked up $26 in idle fees but whatever.
    Note that there’s a difference between kW and kWh and they shouldn’t be conflated. One is like horsepower and the other is like gallons. Your MME 4X has 258kW (346hp) from two motors and has a 99kWh (~3 gallons of gas) battery pack.

    • @EVandMe
      @EVandMe  11 หลายเดือนก่อน

      Yeah, kilowatt is a measure of power, or the rate at which something uses electricity. A kilowatt-hour is a measure of energy, or the total amount of electricity used.

    Thank you for an informative video. I am in the early stages of considering an EV, Mach-e AWD ER specifically. It looks from the video that you park and charge the car outside at home. At last report, New Hampshire can get pretty cold in the winter. Do you encounter any problems charging the car outside in the cold weather? I believe I've read that outside charging in the cold can be problematic in terms of charge rate and also battery loss of charge from the car being parked outside in the cold. I've looked at Ford's owner's manual online and as I recall it recommends parking the Mach-e inside or under cover from just above 32 Fahrenheit and below. That may suggest Ford defines cold as beginning at just above 32. Understood, there is cold and there is really cold. I would think NH can often be in the 'really cold' zone during the winter. I would appreciate your observations about cold weather outside charging and cold weather battery charge loss when simply parked. Thanks again and I look forward to more content from you.

      Cold temperature affect batteries performance and efficiency. So in cold weather, it's better to plug in when not in use. The car will pull power as needed to maintain battery health. Charging is never in issue. I have a good quality charge that is weather proof.
      This is the same for any EV. Some EVs have heat pumps, which help with efficiency in the cold.
      My car, when not plugged in, doesn't loose any noticeable range or battery % when parked. I've left it at the airport a week and no loss.

    On a 340 mile trip and a gas car I would stop at least twice. Once for a bathroom and once to get some food and use the bathroom. Best way to ease range Charging Anxiety is drive the speed limit or slightly below. And it’s at the point now that range anxiety isn’t the problem it’s charger anxiety For me. Is there going to be a line? And is the charger going to work? My Mach E has plenty of range. Thanks for sharing your experience

    • @EVandMe

      Honestly, pre-planning and keeping your expectations in check are the best way to overcome. Drive it, like you would an ICE car, no need to drive like a little old lady. Most people would need to stop at least once for this distance, the only difference with an EV is those stops are usually predetermined.

    Thanks for doing this and filming your drives. I just got a Mach E and watching your vids gives one a sense of what to expect and think about. Really appreciate your work! P.S. if you have CarPlay, I recommend trying it as it has EV charging incorporated.

    Good video. I'm surprised you were able to accomplish the trip. From what I read online, you can't go more than ten miles in an EV without needing to charge and then all the public chargers are broken and will leave you stranded for weeks on end. (j/k)

    On thing for comparison of the 2 forms of "stored energy"... 33kw = 1 gal/gas. Not sure of the Mach-E, but my 2019 M3 LR AWD takes appox. 54kw to go ~200 miles (228 rated -10%-ish), so depending on the buffer at the end 195-180 miles range. 54kw is equivalent to 1.6 gal/gas. That 0.64kw to charge is f'ing ridiculous!

      The battery percentage displaying in the larger font is only when charging. Unfortunately, the instrument cluster has very minimal modifications. Especially since one of the recent updates has locked that icon of the car in the center of the screen.

      The drive modes have very little impact on range. It's more about throttle response. Road trip efficiency, especially when using cruise control /bluecruise will be the same regardless of mode.

      That's a really weird take dude, but ok. Not sure why you're triggered by the branding that Ford gave a car but a ❄gonna be a ❄. If anything, just appreciate the freedom that people can drive what they want and don't feel the need to trample on others.

      The Ford branding is irrelevant. This is a good car don't knock something you don't have first hand experience with. . The guy is correct its not an equal trade off but this car does have great benefits that I think out weigh any weaknesses. I hyper-mile so charger anxiety is not an issue with me. Nice Vlog journey with your Ford Mustang Mach-E.
