This is a gorgeous performance, which is what I expected. It took me a while to listen to this because this song tends to make me very sad!

Interrupted has always been one of my favorites from FF7. It stirred so many feelings on first listen - and now that I'm a bit older, I can appreciate other smaller nuances in it; like how it goes from sounding like a quiet first date to something terrible looming, and then to a sound that's almost wistful. And then of course, the accompanying dialogue - "I want to meet you. No I know I've met you...but I want to meet...You."
God I hope it sounds this good in Rebirth.

This song has been stuck in my mind for half of my life. I knew the music but had no memory of where I heard it... It took me many years of on and off searching to find it, and it happened to be by accident when listening to old game soundtracks.

I was originally gonna write something about how I emotionally abuse Aeris during each playthrough to ensure I end up with Tifa and this song at the Gold Saucer, but I decided that was too harsh. And also untrue. There was that one time I ended up with Barret..

This piece always reminds me of Aeris more than Tifa. Not only for the Gondola ride (which Tifa can do too of course), but this is the music that plays when Cait Sith reads Cloud and Aeris's fortune in the temple of the ancients and says they're perfect for each other. It's the last nice moment they have together before she dies, and my favourite piece of music from the final fantasy series.

Thanks so much! Hmm yeah I remember that moment in the temple. I've always wondered about that, since I'm more of a CloTi believer. My impression was always that Aeris's attraction for Cloud stemmed more from her previous attachment to Zack, whereas Cloud and Tifa actually grew up together. I kinda wonder what the game was trying to say by having Cait Sith read that fortune right before Aeris's death. Maybe so her death would hit us even harder. Ugh.
@@Harpsibored Ha well, I guess I shouldn't write my essay on why I'm team Clerith here (especially as I honestly think the game does all it can to give both romances genuine credit), tho a point about Cloud and Tifa is that even though they grew up in the same town, we learn later on that as children they weren't really very close at all and barely exchanged 2 words until Cloud asked to meet up with her at the well and left for Midgar
But yeah I always group this song/Aerith's theme/Flowers Blooming In The Church as the holy trifecta of "songs that automatically make me sad about Aerith" (would definitely vote for the latter if you ever decide to do another ff7 cover!)

This takes me back so far to the good old days. I remember when this game was new and each night I had the pleasure of trying to find new shiny gems (materia) all over the world. I used to go around every wall button mashing x in case I missed something. I swore to uncover every chest, unlock every lock and find all the secrets the hard way and I did. Back then we didn't have the internet so I spent many hours on the grind. That music would give me life. I remember just sitting around while certain songs played just so I can hear em. That game really impacted my life and inspired me so much especially when it comes to music. I will always have that soundtrack burned into my memory and whenever I hear these, it always reminds me of being that teenaged kid, hidden away in my room, staring at the TV in amazement. Around every corner, in every new town, in every new cave and with every new tune, was an exciting special journey waiting for me to explore. I haven't felt that way about a game since then except for the remake because of the connection I have. Thank you so much for playing this on the harp and thank you Nobuo Uematsu for writing this life altering music. I will forever be grateful 🔴🟢🔵🟣🟡⚪⚫☄

Hangin out on stages in areas where we can just sit back and enjoy the incredible music of FF7 and other games. Also I am a huge harp fan. It has such a unique sound to me. It was a really important time in my younger life and I love to go on about how amazing that game was to me.
Something so satisfying about the lever switching for modulations; the minor change at 1:04 especially gives me goosebumps. Incredible performance, really well done.

Depending on how much you had her in your party and how often you did things that raised the hidden affection status, besides getting a date with her at Gold Saucer, at the end of Disc 2, when they wake up beneath the Highwind, it is very heavily implied that Cloud and Tifa have been intimate. Especially with how she reacts to seeing the rest of the party on the Highwind.
I'm just hoping the rest of the remake gives me a chance to eschew Aerith entirely.
@@Xanatrix I can't say "outside on the cold dirt on the eve of practically certain death" is where I'd wanna get it on with my childhood sweetheart for the first time, but to each his own. My "poor Tifa" remark stands.

A post of mine got deleted on FF reddit recently for SPOILERS because I alluded to her death. I'm still getting over the concept of that being a spoiler.)

You should look into "anxious hearts", "holding my thoughts in my heart" or "tifas theme" , other ff7 themes. I think you could make great harp arangements for them !

The context is that two characters are having an extremely intimate moment, but unresolved issues are keeping them from making the most of it.

This is one of the most beautiful pieces ever. I played this game so long when it first came out, the time counter stopped logging in my hours. Eventually my memory card got corrupted and I lost all my data. I was crushed but then I had to get all my stuff back and maxed out the time again. Yeah I had it bad for this game. My favorite game ever. During the fireworks with Aerith, she's like "Cloud...I'm searching for you" and he's thinking wtf with his arms crossed hahaha. She says "I want to meet you" and Cloud's like "but I'm right here." 😆 This was too funny. I always preferred Tifa without a doubt. Aaaahhh the memories. Thank you for sharing this and bringing me back to those special times with my face glued to the box TV in my room 🔵🟢🟣🔴🟡⚫⚪☄

I remember being super confused during my first playthrough during the date with Aeris, but it makes so much more sense in retrospect once you find out Cloud/Zack's backstories. Ugh it's so good. But yeah, personally I prefer Tifa stumbling over her words, which I think suits this tune the most. Or Barret angrily shooting at the fireworks.
I feel your pain. My memory card deleted my game twice, both times at the end of the game. Third time I finally beat it, and it was definitely worth it. Any other game I probably would have thrown out the window.

The latest time was after the remake came out and I didn't know it was only Midgar. I was pissed and betrayed when I found out haha. I guess me trying not to have a single thing spoiled bit me in the end. Seems like you were really into it for taking it on a third time. That's awesome. Same here though, most games I would've retired. I did that to many games after a memory card corruption but the connection was just too strong in this one. Thanks for chiming in on your experience and it's always cool to hear I ain't the only one taking the extra steps and slapping Sephiroth into oblivion multiple times haha.
@LTP Projects the good ol days of memory cards eh? Easily my favorite game of any genre though, and I absolutely loved the remake as well. Looking forward to playing both again someday.

Although I dunno if I agree, since Cait Sith's body can just be reproduced and doesn't feel pain or anything. If anything makes me cry in FFVII, it's being ambushed underwater by Emerald Weapon.

You know, I always tied this theme to Aeris, because I typically got her for the date, but then I realised you could just as easily get Tifa, depending on your choices (or Barrett.... although maybe that's not so easy. Haha!)
To get Barret you just gotta exploit a bug in the game. You talk to him over and over at Cosmo Canyon at one point I think. I'm pretty sure Tifa is the only one you'll get Interrupted by Fireworks for, though. This is why I emotionally abuse Aeris on each playthrough.
@@Harpsibored It's either Tifa or Aeris that it plays for. That's why this theme makes me nostalgic for Aeris, because I've never gotten to Tifa date scene as I was always nice to Aeris. Haha.

Hiya sorry I moved house and forgot to reply :) yes I bought a harp in lockdown to start learning, I play piano already… I’m still only playing with one hand really but it’s having time to sit and really learn. I've played 1, 4 through 10 & 10-2. But I do really like the soundtracks of 3, 11 & FF7R even though I haven't played them yet. I'd like to do at least one song from each of these games, but I kinda just go wherever inspiration takes me. There are a LOT of songs to choose from that don't seem to have been covered by other harpists on TH-cam (including this one), so I have a lot of work to do! :D

I remember I had two mates over to watch me delve into the crater to fight sephiroth as they didn't have the game yet. There's a part where cloud falls or something and (pixilated) tifa bends over with her hand out and I cheekily said "Cloud! Grab my tits!" We all laughed so hard 😅 I always remember those days....especially yelling at dad that I had to get to save point first and that I didn't care that dinner was getting cold lol

I have to admit: I was interrupted by visual distractions. It must be said that your hair and dresses are always quite nice; but this look in particular deserved a shout. Then there's your 'old' lever harp. I have zero mental coordination for playing instruments, so I'm mesmerized by anyone plucking all the right strings--then having to flick switches in the middle of all that! If that wasn't enough, I got fixated on your rings: because I've wondered how often musicians' jewelry inadvertently snags when playing.

Hey thanks! I like this dress a lot too! About the rings - since I switched from lever to pedal harp, I can't really play with rings anymore unfortunately. Since the pedal harp is much more resonant, I need to mute the strings more often to prevent muddiness, and the rings cause a really unpleasant TWAAANGGGWRRRHREH

Well, somebody has a preferred couple =) Although going with Aeris makes the, ehm, "story development" later more poignant and emotional. Haven't played the remake, yet, I think I'll wait for the whole thing to be out before I do.

@@Harpsibored IDK, maybe I'll cave in before that, if I see a good discount. Truth be told, my trust in Square has been hurt by FFXV. I pre-ordered it, paid full price for the game because it's Final Goshdarn Fantasy, and I've been let down big time. I don't hate it, the bromance was real, and the food was delicious, and Aranea is bae, but it definitely made me scrap the idea of paying full price for the VII remake. My current plan is to make a blind Let's Play once it's complete. One day... =)

It was a whole thing. I think the outrage died down when people saw how she looked in the Don Corneo dresses, spawning revelations across the world that sports bras do indeed hold you in.
