  • I bought two faulty widescreen Night Vision monoculars from eBay. Both were listed as spares or repair and in a not working condition.
    One is a Nightfox 100V and the other is a Nightfox 110R.
    Let's see if we can figure out what's wrong with them and hopefully repair them!
    I'm not an expert, but I do enjoy trying to fix things.

    Nice, Dude! Now you have 2 functioning Night Vision units that you got for a steal and they didn't even require replacement parts or anything! I wish I had the knowledge and skills you have, then I could get broke stuff too for a song and repair it! Heck I could have repairs a lot of items that died for no apparent reason when I owned them! Being able to repair the R/C Van my Dad bought me a long time ago would have been so spectacular! I loved that thing. it was so cool and a rare item too, there were only a few of them in Canada at the time, and it stopped working only minutes after beginning to use it, took it back only to find out that there were only a few units in the entire country and they are were sold and they "couldn't be repaired" which means they didn't know what was wrong with it. but that was a long time ago. Technology back then was far bulkier and more susceptible to breaking than it is today. What was required for that Van to operate could all fit into a small circuit now. the components were huge back then! LOL This was the early 80s when it happened. so yeah, a lot of advancement has happened since then.

      @BuyitFixit  7 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      Thanks 👍I repaired another one a few videos back, and ended up picking up two Bresser units for £10 each which look new (haven't looked at them yet). Shame about your little van. I find older stuff easier to work on. Agree things have moved on so much since then, components are a lot smaller and now you need more specialist equipment than just a soldering iron back in the day...

    Nice easy fixes. You rely on your meter probes - in some situations with your life - so it's best not to use them as tyre levers ;-). The first set you looked at had obviously been apart from the outset - even without the improperly fitted front visor, the rubber plugs covering the two screws would have left the factory flush with the surface - not pushed to the bottom of the holes. As an aside, using Duracell batteries is a bit worrying from someone purporting to be a "techie". They are sold using misleading advertising, they are not as good power wise as many other (cheaper) brands, and possibly worst of all is that they're prone to leak, thus damaging equipment that other brands wouldn't. Duracell are banned in my household...

    • @BuyitFixit
      @BuyitFixit  7 หลายเดือนก่อน

      @@BuyitFixit sorry if my comment was unclear. I was referring to the piece of plastic lens in front of the Lcd screen. Can't seem to find something like that online.

      @Ethan_is_me I thought that's what you meant but I wasn't 100% it's all part of the same unit. It was a plastic lens and a rubber shroud, not sure if it's something you'd be able to get separately.

    We’re the horses responding to an IR emitter?

      I don't think so, I think they were more responding to noise or perhaps there eyesight is better in the dark than mine.

      Yes it probably is. Horses have huge eyes compared to human eyes. Their eyesight, not there.

      My eyesight is getting a lot worse with age. I can't focus properly now on anything less than arms length now 🙁

    The previous owner probably tried to use rechargeable batteries in the first one, they are slightly larger and will put strain on poor quality battery terminals. Chinese manufacturing strikes again!
