  • A video on how to replace spark plugs the correct way on a Vauxhall Insignia 1.8 16V VVT. This applies to all Vauxhalls with this engine.
    Quite a lot of people assume that new spark plugs are already gapped to suit their engine and just put them in as they come out of the box. I strongly recommend you gap them correctly and torque them down, this will save your coil pack from over working to subsidise any unwanted gap and your coil pack will last longer. Apart from that the engine will run smoother and more efficiently too.
    Spark plug gap - 0.9mm
    Spark Plug Torque - 25NM
    Any questions or comments more than welcome and you can reach me directly on my facebook business page - AMS Vauxhall
    Thanks for watching

      Thanks for the comment Gary 😊 much appreciated! I don’t think many people gap and torque spark plugs anymore. They are usually just fitted out the box and then people wonder why the coil pack later fails 🤷🏻‍♂️

    Got a question mate, got the exact same insignia as you, basically upon starting the car is takes longer than usual to start, around 5-6 seconds, also somestimes wont start first time, have to like wind the key a few times and press the acceleration to gwt it to start, any idea what it could be?

      Difficult to say without hearing it but you need to workout if it’s fuel related or power related

    Hi great video. I have the same engine, do you know what the gap size for the spark plugs is meant to be?

    Thanks again for this. When pulling the coil pack I noticed some oil in the third spark plug well. Any thoughts on the typical causes of this?

      That is a sure sign that your cam cover gasket is leaking.
      I have a video on a Vectra cam cover and gasket replacement. It’s the same engine

    Once this has been done, will the Onboard computer detect the repair and cancel out the fault ESP fault itself or does it need to be reset manually ?

    • @AMSVauxhall
      @AMSVauxhall  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      ESP is a fault with the braking / drivetrain system. If you have that fault light on them you will need diagnostics to interrogate the ECU’s

    Hey Andy - you wouldn't by chance have worked on an Isignia Diesel would you? I'm absolutely stumped trying to find the coil pack on mine. Located the glow plugs and they've been replaced but the ODB is also saying the coils are faulty?

      Hi David, there is no coil pack on a diesel. It will be referring to the glow plugs buddy 😁

      @@AMSVauxhall Cheers Andy. Came up with p2282 (fuel/air intake generic). I had a bit of a read up and saw that the intake pipe between cooler and engine manifold often split so ending up taken it out to check - no splits :) Curiously there was oil on the pipe though. I started at air filter and worked my way along and cannot see anything else that would be causing the drop in pressure and bringing up the fault. Car is cranking but just not firing up any longer. I'm merely guessing past this so think I'll be looking at a call out. Proper laugh for a BH wknd :)
