Brilliant video Stripey. Good to see you oot with Robin. Drone footage wiz the 👌 Magic Northern lights too... I did that hill a few years ago. Member of the walking club finished the Corbetts. Only hill I've ever been half drunk on. 🍾🥂We carried on down the ridge to the pub too 🍻

Just Suberb Video - start to finish! - only way I think that setup could be improved is (as you say) with the lan pro for midges and ticks, if you stick with the cuben get a white or light coloured groundsheet and light coloured hiking trousers - just makes ticks a wee bit easier to spot, I have been hammered with ticks over the years...I either have Lymes or am immune to it but they are still a super nuisance! 😀
Great location, wished I'd been up there with you but I've got a cat to feed (great excuse, for multiple uses). Looks like a perfect tent/tarp for being high up at this time of the year. Plenty of ticks around at the moment but no midges thankfully ..... yet. Arrochar pronounced with a hard K, more like Aroka'
Thanks a lot Iain! Yeah it is the perfect tent for is purpose it was built for (Alps +2500m). Still love to use it when conditions allowing it... unfortunately only a short window 😎. Thanks with the 'K' really appreciate it 👍 Cheers Stripey
Very nice Stripey, that's a lovely wee spot for a camp :D I knew Robin couldn't resist bagging that other top, but I'd have stayed back as you did. That tent looks interesting, you should make a video & talk about it :)
Hi Scot 👋, Yeah I mean the camera was a good enough excuse for me as I was already tired in my legs from going up the hill. Wasn't my best walking day but nevertheless one of my best wild camps! Thanks for the video idea, not so sure tbh as I built it as a 2 person shelter for the Alps and the Scottish Highlands just have different requirements most of the time 😔 Might modify it in the future as I still have 3.5 square meter material left 😄👍 Thanks Stripey
Thanks mate, might adjust it a bit but my biggest issue is the missing inner tent plus floor for the midge's here in Scotland. If I would add all of this without self building I am basically with the weight of a lanshan 1 Pro which will be much cheaper to buy new than modifying it. Need to have a proper look - installing some top guylines is like 10 minutes with a transfer glue strip + dcf material which I might do so - thanks for the suggestion! Have the tent now for roughly 6 years and still loving it, just love the material! Thanks Stripey
@@StripeyHatGuy That's understandable, sometimes it's a better idea just to soak in the atmosphere - especially in a place like that! Aye, that might be the case, but I think people would be interested / inspired by the fact it's hand made, regardless of its actual function - there aren't many people around that do this :)
Nice one Stripey! That's a great wee hill and some amazing views! Nice to see the wee blue tent back out! Some amazing drone footage as well! Brilliant. Paul
Thanks Paul! Need to admit that I really fancy the ridge walk back to the bothy which you did! Always good to have some tours in the back of the head 😂👍 Cheers Stripey

Am not sure I am brave enough to be sleeping on a summit in that tent 🤣 well done, it looks cracking though and definitely makes room in the bag for a few more beers. Great video mate
Thanks Gus. The tent is absolutely fine used it already in heights above 3000m, glaciers,... for 2 people. Dynamee is in lot of applications just superior to other materials in my opinion - pack size is unfortunately not necessarily one of them... Thanks for watching! ATB Stripey Edit: It is much more wind stable than a Lanshan for example.
@@StripeyHatGuy sorry that was not a dig at the tent more a kudos to you thinh. I have seen dynamee in a lot of things and it's great. I would not trust my lanshan up there either I guess I am just a bit wimpy 🤣
No worries Gus, it is just a different approach with an Ultralight tent. It has it's own purpose, rather minimalistic. The Lanshan is an absolutely great tent in my opinion and in most situations more then enough in my opinion. Thanks Stripey
@@StripeyHatGuy yes I was in the lakes Saturday night the weather was great was good to finally get some sun and no wind after all the storms we've had this winter.
I take my none stripey hat off to you, for sleeping without an inner tent. The bugs would really annoy me. We even got a BIG black beetle in the bedroom of a bigger tent, and we don't leave the bedroom door open at all. Great video and absolutrly amazing views. It took me back to last yr, when we hiked up Snowdon.
Thanks a lot Maggi! I am not very worried about the 'normal' bugs - just really don't like ticks and the midges. Have never been up Snowdon must be quite amazing 👍. ATB Stripey
@@StripeyHatGuy Snowdon is beautiful 😍 thankfully we haven't come across ticks yet, but midges can be a pain, so this year, were armed with a gas thermacell (the one that you screw onto a gas canister,) and candles. Plus head nets and full sleep nets if needed lol. Flying ants covered us on two ten mile hikes last September. They're big and horrid.
@@StripeyHatGuy we used it two weeks ago and after it started showing a slight smoke, the flies of all kinds stopped coming in and those already in, were dropping. I've heard that the hand held ones aren't so good. Plus, they use very expensive little gas cannisters.
Thank you very much Gavin! I do really like the quilt and I would get it again. I have the feeling that quilts are just 'warmer' for their rating as you never push/squeeze the isolation of it with your knee or arm when sleeping. Also really enjoy the freedom of movement. Not sure if I would get the same Quilt again though as it might be to warm for me and I think a 30F with a limit of 0 degree Celsius instead of -6C could/would be a better option - but I wanted to get the most use of it....🤷 Thanks Stripey
Absolutely amazing location 😄👍!!! The protection of the tent is great from the elements, the only missing bit for Scotland is a inner tent against midge's. It was built for the Alps, hence no tent floor (rocky ground +2.500m ruins any tent floor). Also I never had any tick problems in the Alps... opposite of Scotland 😮💨. The material is just super strong, it doesn't like rubbing against rock but apart of that- it doesn't soak, waterproof by nature, super light (even in a thicker version). Thanks a lot for watching!
