Arguably the best album of 2022. The production , the songwriting, the concept, It’s brilliant really. Solid 9/10. The fact it’s all done by him too is just insane. Definitely more of a grower imo but once it clicks it’s just magic. My favourites from the album are Tell Me A Joke, Picking up Hands (favourite), Born Yesterday, Knots, House Settling and Fractions of Infinity. Just an incredible piece of work. Again, the songwriting and production are just.. ugh 🤌 alright I’ll stop glazing. Nice reaction, will be subbing :)
Thank you so much for the comment! Glazing is 100% allowed here and I will inevitably get to that point eventually! I do plan to do a shorter but more in depth deep dive review of this project soon but want to take the time to make sure I give it the justice it deserves(also can't stop listening and finding new appreciation for the project). Definitely agree on this album being a grower though as it did take me a whole year to finally give it a real chance and so glad I did. Tell Me A Joke may be my favorite in the moment right now, but that line in Picking Up Hands "I'm right by your side just over your shoulder" is so heartbreaking I love it.
@@JakeisFake420the most heartbreaking line on the whole album in my opinion is “tried to call but the dog runs away from me now” because dogs are supposed to be able to see ghosts but now the only thing able to keep him company has forgotten him and is now scared of his presence
I’m not sure if you’re familiar as the concept as a whole but basically it’s about him progressively going though the stages of the afterlife and watching his family start to move on without him and it’s driving him crazier and crazier. That’s why it gets weirder with each song. The end where it cuts to static is him finally moving on past purgatory. Like he says in knots “I don’t fade to black I cut to static”
Definitely was able to better grasp some of these themes better without the video along with it on my second listen! Knots, Tell Me A Joke, and Picking up Pieces are up there as some of my favorites after further listening.
Definately how I was feeling listening to it, I had just listened to Everywhere at the End of Time a bit after? maybe before listening to this and had a very similar feeling at the ending of IDMTHY!

the beginning of picking up hands, the moon and the guitar combo hit me so hard man, like nostalgia from a different lifetime
