      @name The charge wasn't suicide. The boy jumped off the overpass, putting another woman's life in danger and severely injuring her (he could've killed her). That would technically be involuntary manslaughter if she had died.

    • @thegreendude6149
      @thegreendude6149 2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Yeah, they didn't charge him with suicide because they still getting the evidence and the driver has to wake up as she is a witness, also meaning that the case won't be closed until she gives her side of the story.

      Its because of the stigmata that exists in america, even with the specific term of "Shrink" being used in many different states and such. Correlates a lot to not only the medical bills they'd have to pay for the evaluation but also of being "Discovered" To have mental problems, even though thats pretty much not an issue in many countries anymore.

      Its not just in America either - talking about mental illness is fraught, the idea that if it gets out and your colleagues and friends find out, all of a sudden you're "the crazy one"...its one of the reasons I think portraying mental illness in a positive way on tv shows is a good thing - aids in removing the stigma.

    As someone who lives with depression, I understand being suicidal, but the complete disregard for another's life is unforgivable. I feel for the boy, but endangering another person's life through a suicide attempt is just awful and I just can't see there being a good enough excuse for that. Being suicidal does not let you off nearly killing someone. I hope he gets the help he needs, but I also hope he faces repercussions for his actions.
    Also, Dr. Choi was out of line this episode, if anyone is to blame it would be the boy's father. Waking up a patient who has just come out of a life-saving surgery in order to help another patient is wrong.

    • @KalraSura

      I feel like most people don't realise what the consequences can be. I think most would think that since others are in a car then they'd be fine, but that's not always the case. But people who consciously take other people with them are a different story.

    • @dmf1301
      @dmf1301 2 ปีที่แล้ว +24

      You really don’t understand suicide from depression at all - based on what you just said!
      It doesn’t have anything to do with trying to hurt other people due to being selfish - the ONLY focus is taking yourself out of the equation so you’re not in pain or a burden to people any more.

    • @hyde7102
      @hyde7102 2 ปีที่แล้ว +22

      there's a difference between on purpose and accident. do you seriously believe that he aimed to fling his body from the overpass onto that lady's car specifically? or onto any person's car? he wasn't trying to play whack-a-mole

    • @dragonagegirl
      @dragonagegirl 2 ปีที่แล้ว +13

      @@KalraSura When you jump from an overpass, you know there are cars driving below and likely thought that if he didn't die on impact to the road, someone would likely accidentally run him over. I mean an overpass is literally a bridge or road or railway that crosses over another road. You can see cars down below from an overpass. He obviously did not intend to hurt the woman or even thought of the consequences that would come from it other than his own death, but it doesn't change the fact that she was severely injured due to his actions. Just like the cases where people try to commit suicide by jumping in front of cars and the one jumping ends up only injured, but the drivers end up dying.
      The suicidal person's mental health is obviously an important factor to consider and he absolutely needs and deserves to get help from a mental health professional or facility, but when your means of suicide puts others at risk, that has to be taken into account too. Intention does not stop the devastating consequences that happen after

      That was definitely a wrong swing to take.
      At least he could use a bit different angle, like: if that boys tries to pull something like this again, some other innocent person might get hurt just like this girl here, or even killed.
      And anyway, it's not the doctor's fault.
      I can't really appreciate that Dr. Choi seems to care more about the boy than about the lady he almost killed.

      @@MerimaTropoja well, it's tricky. You know, there are reasons why people choose this or that way to kill themselves. And when a person chooses to jump on the road full of cars, it's not unlikely that subconsciously they do want to hurt someone else. Or at least to go in a particularly gruesome way. To make others regret as much as possible.

    We have an overpass near where I live and it's known for jumpers, it's rare you go over the bridge and there isn't some memorial flowers attached to the railings. Its so sad to think that is the only way out for some. Luckily for others most seem to do it at quiet times of the day, but it still results in someone finding them and the road being shut off for investigation. I'm surprised they have never made the barriers higher!

      @@MsGrandunion In Japan many jump in front of the trains at certain stations. You read there was an accident and it is a school test phase or layoffs were announced and you just know what happened. It happens so frequently that the train companies penalize the families of the then deceased with cleaning fines etc. as a deterrent as it traumatizes bystanders and conductors, but those that want to punish their families, for pressuring them or whatever, jump anyway. Doomed if you do, doomed if you don´t. The boy´s motivation is never revealed. Maybe he wanted to punish his dad, like for ignoring his struggles...we can only speculate.
      PS: "Better ways, without dragging others into it"? Someone is gonna find the body though...so no way around it.

    I’ve come to understand why people get so defensive when a psychiatrist or mental health comes up because they assume the worst or that their relative or friend is crazy.
    That’s not always the case, they are there to asses the mental status of the patient and to see if they are in fact a danger to themselves and others. Sometimes seeing a psychiatrist even if you don’t have mental problems actually helps and it sometimes also improves your physical health as well.

You can love them how much you want, give everything they want, teach them good things. But outside world isn't that easy. The children may try to be strong but if their closest support disappointed them, how heartbreaking it will be.

      They memorize a script for every episode, and there's multiple takes for every scene
      That's how most live-action movies and tv-shows are made

    • @dragon_toad

      ...professional writers write a script, and those actors memorise the script and then say it. It's literally how every live action movie, tv show, and play happens.
