Yep, that's right, I cut my finger on the bandsaw, luckily it was very minor. Just a reminder to me not to rush, and to think before I do things. Silly me 🙄😯

Mistakes and slip ups happen, which is why the safety measures exist. You probably saved a finger by having your hands relatively clear of the blade before the slip.
Glad that you're okay, hearing/seeing the amount of force applied to cut that wood was worrying, but anyone who works with tools knows the desire to just finish a bandsaw job.

Hi Harry... I'd like to make a suggestion to you. If you're going to use a bandsaw for wood, Look into a different blade. The blade you're using looks like a metal or "fine finish". For doing what you're doing, you need a 3TPI type blade. Maybe look into a 1/2 inch 3TPI blade skip tooth blade. This will make your job much easier and more safe.

It's easy to get complacent and make careless mistakes. I'm glad it was minor and the lesson wasn't learned at greater cost! The grain on that wood is simple brilliant! It would have been a shame to burn that, for sure. Just curious, was the choice to use a different wood for the lid a design choice or were the pieces you cut off to round and shape the stump on the bandsaw not large enough to make a lid?

The blade is too fine and that makes you push the wood harder to try & make it cut faster. In turn, that makes you continue to keep that hard pushing going until right near the end of the cut. In turn, that makes your hand fly forward toward the blade when the blade breaks through at the end. Your hand then goes fwd onto the blade. I've done it myself but luckily still have all my digits. ALWAYS back off on the pushing near the end. The blade will cut through just as quick.
