    I'll be honest, I'm not normally a fan of these glass switches as they tend to look a bit tacky, but this one is definitely one of the better ones. With no neutral and Zigbee, these should be a winner. That said, I still prefer the Aqara switches, which are very understated and the clicky factor means they have more family approval. I do agree with you on getting more switches on them than you need, as it makes for a very neat solution without needing to stick up extra buttons everywhere.

    I have been looking into these and all smart switches seem to have a large control box on the reverse there is no way this will fit into a standard uk light switch back box without alterations? I have a three gang 2 way switch I’d like to make smart and there just isn’t the room in the back box with the cables too. I have smart plugs which work without the hub via Alexa echo and dot devices. Is the hub absolutely necessary?

    Good stuff. Watched this video several times. Bought myself some touch smart switches recently and swapped out a 2 gang tradition switch (one of the gang to power up the ceiling fan and the other for the lights fixed to the fan) with a 3 gang touch smart switch. The fan speed and the lights can be controlled by the fan remote controller as well. Now the new switch works with Google assistant voice control. Great! Just one thing, though. I hear a purr (sound) when I touch the gang that is not connected to any device. Why is that? Any ideas? Thanks.

    It would be a good idea to get one with more buttons on than the number of switches that you need, BUT this doesn't work well. I did that with mine and it causes the lights to flicker. I checked the instructions and it says "Please install the corresponding number of lights according to the switch button, otherwise the light will flash" So unfortunately not good advice. You can add in other Zigbee devices like PIR sensors, Door Sensors etc. The Advantage is the range is longer than WiFi.

      @reviewassistant6891 3 ปีที่แล้ว

    • @darrenelkins5923

      To clarify - does a zigbee hub reach further to a device than a wifi router would? Or is the extra distance dependant on a daisy chain of devices?
      I'm trying to workout if an echo plus - which I believe to be a zigbee hub - will talk to a switch in our detached prefab garage some 10 metres away as the crow flies but with one inside house wall plus one outer house wall and one prefab concrete wall, in between.
      Our router, which is across the room from Alexa, but further away from the garage, will talk to a tablet next to the proposed light switch location.
      I'm unclear if a zigbee switch will need another zigbee device closer to Alexa to repeat with?
      In other words, if the wifi signal gets there, does that suggest a zigbee signal should def get there over the same distance from its relative hub?
      Cheers

    • @GeekStreet
      @GeekStreet  3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Zigbee range is further than wifi but the more things than are in the way like walls etc then this will impact the range.
