-It turns out Shaman King has really gone down. Later volumes seem to be around the prices I mention though
-Zatch Bell has gone WAY up since the last time I checked. We’re talking $20+ a volume. Insane.
-Oh My Goddess Omnibus Vol 6 also in the $80 range like 4 and 5

Such an interesting commentary! I recently started collecting Oh My Goddess but the singles, there's so many of them though I'm kind of intimidated but it's a nostalgic series for me too.

It's fascinating to see what manga is out of print or harder to find in the English collecting zone. I've been watching mangatube stuff for close to 10 years now (anyone remember NZAnimeManga?) and I swear that both GTO and Battle Royale were always sought after and harder to find series, although their prices have really gone up recently. It's honestly kinda weird and surprising that no English publisher is willing to cash out on the nostalgia for these series. For Battle Royale, I'm sure it wouldn't be that difficult to publish a collector's omnibus edition since it's a shorter series.
I definitely agree with what you said! It's more important for people to actually read the manga series itself, it doesn't matter through what method they do it. If the volumes are out of print or hard to find, that's the publisher's fault for not keeping things in print (this is my perspective at least). I personally want to collect a bunch of really cool older series in Japanese, if there's no print edition available brand new then I won't care if I buy the manga second hand even if it does not support the series. Don't get me wrong, from the bottom of my heart I love supporting my favorite manga as directly as possible, but sometimes that is not going to be possible for some stuff and it is what it is.
The Japanese manga market could easily set up a print on demand service for older out of print manga but instead they're pushing the digital distribution model which is something I'll never support. If I do remember correctly, I'm pretty sure I did see some print on demand services available for Osamu Tezuka's works on a Japanese site, which is a good sign.
There's so many great classic manga from Afternoon magazine, but they're not available new anymore in Japanese which is a pain ; _ ; . For now though it's too much of a hassle for me to buy second hand stuff from Japan so I'm sticking to manga I can find in stock. And you did make a good point, collectors should try and focus on what is available right now, since who knows what will still be available in the future.
Speaking of Vampire Hunter D, I had volume 1 of the omni in my shopping cart and I was ready to buy it this month, but then I saw some rumors that Dark Horse is possibly seeking to be bought out by a bigger company, so now I'm somewhat hesitant. I'll need to see if this just remains a rumor or if it actually happens, which is frustrating.
If you have other ideas for educational videos like this one, make them, you'll really help out the collecting community! I'd say, yes, make the video on how to get good deals.
Since you asked, I find that those prices are way too high and absolutely not worth it, if people are really desperate to get something in print in English, they may as well try some self printing manga methods xD. Scalping is really trendy right now and there is a heavy focus on online shopping nowadays, so I don't think the prices are gonna drop by that much, especially for those super in demand series. Only reprints or re-releases will lead to price drops.
For now my dream out of print manga that I'm desperate to get is One Outs, which is a phenomenal baseball psychological mind game gambling series, check out the anime for it to get an idea of how awesome it is. Of course, the manga is also worth reading. Hopefully you find some super sweet deals on those Vampire Hunter singles!

Thanks for the heads up on GTO I simply can’t live with cheap paper and bindings at $600 price point on up , no way no how . Mu She She appears to be a holy grail at the price you mentioned I would rather drop $500 on Frankenfran 4 volumes because I saw some reviews and it’s top shelf Uber great story ;-)

Love the rare collection. Hunting rare manga is fun, but can be a little frustrating at times. My rare voulmes are gintama, shaman king, and now getting tegami bachi.

love the video the rarest manga I have in my collection is K-on HighSchool got it for at my local anime store where I get my manga and light novels $13 in really good condition and 2nd rarest has to be volume 1 of the Air Gear omnibus and when is the next video of what manga is coming out for the month?

You mentioned you're collecting the Vagabond editions in Spanish. Are you going for the panini editions or the ivrea ones? I'm trying to decide between the two because paninis are much bigger and substantially cheaper to get in the US, but the pictures are slightly cutoff on every page. The ivreas are smaller, but retain the entire panel. I think its the same deal with slam dunk...idk for sure though

Where did you get the protectors for your Mangas from?
I find that a lot of older shoujo's series can be extremely out of print and pricy. Like boys over flowers volumes can go from $50+, and don't even get me started on sugar sugar rune, some Basara volumes, red river, and From far away
i lucked out and got pretty much every sayonara zetsubou sensei for around 3$ each at a used bookstore once, i was only missing the 1st and the 12,13 which i picked up on amazon for around 5-7 each in good condition too. very underrated series though it's absolutely hilarious.
