Your video brings back fond memories of Taiwan. The mountains of Taiwan are some of the longest and steepest I have ever ridden. The exhilarating descents can be exhausting and dangerous as you found out. You'll love Taroko Gorge. I rode down it from the central mountains. Would love to go back to Taiwan. People are really friendly.
These climbs are crazy. I don’t think we’ll have to to cycle into Taroko, but I don’t want to miss it. Maybe rent a car for the day?

@@BuffertheTourist Taroko Gorge is a must see. In 2018 the government were building lots of new huge tunnels lower down, going through whole mountains and the old balcony road was being side lined and falling into disrepair. Such a shame as it was really jaw droopingly impressive. Higher up it still remains. Maybe a get a bus or a truck to take you and your bikes to the top and cycle down? Just a thought. There is also a very high path that goes high up along the wall of the gorge. Not for the faint hearted or those who suffer vertigo. Just search YT for videos walking Taroko Gorge high path/trail.
Oh and don't go into the gorge after rain heavy rain as rock and land slides are common. It is also prone to suffering earthquakes. Some have been devastating causing a lot of damage in Hualien on the east coast.
