I just sold a property in Portland and I'm thinking of putting the cash in stocks, I know everyone is saying it's ripe enough, but Is this a good time to buy stocks? How long until a full recovery? How are other people in the same market raking in over $200k gains with months, I'm really just confused at this point.

@akojivictor It all depends on how long you're willing to hold for, stocks might likely tank further, but making serious gains in this downtrend wouldn't be a problem if you're a pro.

CNBC's agenda sickens me. Great stuff from Ron but..
0:46 - Ron opens the interview stating that he is a LONG-TERM INVESTOR and talks about his funds beating indexes over MULTI-DECADE time spans (27 years)
11:22 - Rebecca tries to interrupt Ron with a clear agenda, tries again a moment later
11:54 - "But-but-but sometimes you make these investments and it may take a VERY LONG TIME to pay off. It MAY NOT PAY OFF. In the case of Tesla.....".
She then quotes his exact cost basis, down to the CENT. And then throws more shade.
Telsa IPO'd in June 2010. LESS. THAN. A. DECADE. AGO.
He is a long-term investor. He opened the interview explaining that.
He goes on to explain AGAIN that he is a long-term investor and gives examples of 10+ year "incubation periods" on investments, and examples of owning stocks that, 2-3 years later, were DOWN significantly, before the eventual payoff.
Rebecca then interrupts him without acknowledging his points at all and basically says "But answer this. TESLA IS DOWN SINCE YOU INVESTED"
It's embarrassing to watch. It's like he's talking to a brick wall.
And nothing personal against Rebecca. I know she is being fed these stupid questions because CNBC itself has an agenda to tarnish Tesla.
Doesn't make it any less embarrassing to witness.
And then they interrupt him and force and ad break, saying "We'll get back to Tesla after the break". After the break, they throw a new question (unrelated) then say "we're out of time".

The model Y will sell more than the model 3, and Germany gigafactory will open at the beginning of 2021. Tesla market share will increase each quarter.

(Bottom line 1: buying Louisiana at 3¢ an acre today is almost never something your grandchildren will criticize you for.)
As a side note: Funny bit of irony that VW has been saved by their own fossil fuel corruption. (Going 'all-in' on electric more aggressively than others - **because of deiselgate.** )

@Russell Spears Prosperous businesses are always going to beat static assets over the long term.
I'm all for hedging, but the bottom line is cynics and pessimists always miss out on 4 and 5¢ acres of land; because they're way too caught up on the fact that “all that free money” (i.e. inflation: the cost of growth) is stubbornly preventing them from finding decent land at 5¢ a hectare.

@Russell Spears lol (a) The blockchain works -even- much better when it has real names and faces attached to it. (MUCH more secure.)
And (b) in my country (Canada) we already have **instant** **free** money transfers between individuals and **all the leading banks.** And (b+) the only reason it hasn't already spread to every cash register in the country is because the banks are still making too much money off the old (outdated **but profitable** ) debit & credit fee-per-transaction systems.
i.e. I'm 100% all-in for a Fintech revolution - wiping out inefficiencies. But (lol**) if you understood macroeconomics sufficiently you'd probably realize the ability to print money (real money - dollars and cents) - alongside tweaked lending rates - is a way WAY bigger part of our continued collective advancement from subsistence dirt farmers to dudes tweeting in luxury / comfort than most mediocre economists (and, Bitcoin flim-flam men) would have you believe.
i.e. Leaving aside the HUGE matters of taxation (the greater good) and responsible citizenry - too much crypto is also, IYAM, just fundamentally bad macro economics. (Because controlling the money supply - liquidity vs deflation; inflation vs stagnation - is far FAR more important to advancing prosperity than many realize.

Bought Tesla at $37 in Feb., 2013; now in the low $200’s. Still holding, and will for the next 10 years, 20 if necessary, because Tesla will inevitably win. The big Short interest in Tesla stock is what’s holding the stock price down. Every day, oil companies make $2.75B in rev. ICE Car companies $2B. Throwing $10B or $12B to short Tesla in the stock market is pennies to them. And creating FUD (Fear, Uncertainty & Doubt) in the media about Tesla to make things harder for them and hopefully put them out of business is a tiny effort on their part. See link for a great summary on this from Jack Rickard, an EV pioneer: th-cam.com/video/vfILTM_xcOE/w-d-xo.html. Biggest stock manipulation in history, but SEC focused on Elon’s tweets. Won’t matter in the end.

no offense to you or other retail investors, but what's the benefit for the economy if a billionaire just bought shares 10 years ago and sold them at a profit = at a loss for a naive retail investor? What's the benefit? Why are they even called "investors"? Looks like a legalized stealing to me. Even Tesla itself didn't get any money from it. And then we wonder why 25% of population is on food stamps, etc, etc. And we praise these people as Saints of our time. Makes one think... And they talk "ethics" yet they are the ones who stubbornly promote homosexuality, feminism and other garbage...

Our next car/suv will be a Tesla to replace our other vehicle. The oil companies and their supporting financial manipulators will not win on this one, only extend it for awhile. $2.75B is a lot so delaying is all they have left. Big 3 is tied closely to big oil and will diminish also.

@@DanOneOne you'll have to try and make this one legible if you want an answer, not too sure what you wrote but ill try. I don't see how buying stock = stealing?? Even a small business owner owns his companies shares... and if a company issues shares and sells them, that cash is available to invest in machinery, new value production possibilities etc. When value is returned to the investor (stock sold for profit or by dividends) the investor may now purchase other shares and help other compnies grow etc.

I get it now; Electric vehicles get 70% efficiency vs. Internal combustion engines get 30% efficiency. The legacy auto makers are really good at making internal combustion engines. The Tesla battery and powertrain is the future, but GM and Ford would rather continue to stay in the past. Sure, GM and ford can buy really good engines, but just as in the early 1900s, it didn't matter if there was a really good horse to use to get around, the automobile was the future.

The battery in EV creates a lot of pollution to make and dispose of, but is not factored into the discussion

    • @TheBluebus17
      @TheBluebus17 4 ปีที่แล้ว

How does producing batteries pollute? And how does producing oil not pollute? The minerals for producing batteries have been mined for years like copper aluminum. oh you must be talking about lithium not. You take pulling oil out of the ground in the oil sands and see how much it pollutes not to mention that once its produced it is then burnt in our vehicles. When you get your information, make sure you figure out the source of it.

Many problems with all these assertions and assumptions s: 1) life expectancies are going down in the U.S. 2) governments cannot control the price of money, at best they can influence it 3) he doesn’t even mention how this will all be fueled. We are past peak conventional oil energy. All of this forever growth talk and thinking requires an increasing E.R.o.E.I. We are past an increasing E.R.o.E.I. and we are now globally on the downward slope of E.R.o.E.I.
This baby boomer is at the tail end of a paper Ponzi model that worked quite well for a time, but everything changes. What he did worked, but it will not work going forward. His own statements about the government stealing from people should be prima facia evidence that the political and economic paradigm (paper/digital currency) itself is rotten.
