Even though Nick may not have been attracted to Hannah he didn’t disrespect her on TV. He kept it respectful that’s the least she could’ve done and she wasn’t attracted to him either cause at their reveal she constantly mentioned him being shorter and not what she expected.

This what I said yesterday to friends! If Hannah was a man the internet would cancel her with more fury. The talking about their sex life on tv was the big thing for me, so disrespectful to go behind your partners back and break trust smh. In general though there’s a lot of things she said that are just out of pocket.

Not excusing Hannah. But some might say Nick was abusive too. He was weaponising incompetence and that’s a lot to deal with if you are hyper-independent like Hannah. It’s kinda like well damn, here’s someone else I can’t rely on. Which in itself is emotional abuse and very disappointing if you are finally looking to put down your strong and self-reliant side. Remember she was on her own financially at 18.

@@boitumelodibetso8719 while I hear you and ur so right saying weaponized incompetence is so incredibly toxic, I wouldn’t call it abusive like Hannah. It’s very obvious nick was raised boy parents and was shown literally nothing regarding the house, but I truly don’t think he was trying to tactically attack Hannah and belittle her. Yes, Hannah can look at his lack of knowledge and decide if it’s toxic/lessen her life. However, she intentionally used every moment she could to humiliate him to the point where he is viscerally scared of her. That big fight after the party proved her wrong after she verbally assaulted him, and she slithered away to sleep instead of apologizing. Then she had a brunch with her friends, complaining about him to nick. She had her friends do her dirty work. That is manipulation at its finest. The way I would never ever allow my friends into my relationship and criticize my partner. In summary, being unknowingly toxic and intentional abuse are two separate things. Sorry if this is a lot but Hannah is very triggering for me.

I agree that he is childish but as long as we saw he has not been verbally disrespectful to her. Tim is giving Zanab vibe. Remember what Zanab did? She was having lots of issues but chose to wait till the last moment to explode. Tim was having issues early on but didn't try to have conversations with Alex. If there are things he was not happy with, he should've totally leave early before meeting with her dad. I don't like Alex being so messy but I can see that why she has chronic fatigue issues and wants a nap. I don't think they're compatible. But it is healthy communication to let your partner know things you cannot tolerate. Alex is probably someone really self-centered and not mature. But Tim could just let her know how much he values family and cleanliness. Maybe he did communicate off cameras but he could also leave in a polite way.

Hey Ramses, meet your hand! You don’t even need to wear a glove! 😂 Seriously though, all longterm partners experience out of sync times for intimacy and he’d be best off offering to help her (tea? Hot water bottle? Comfort food?), put more energy into wedding planning and then rub one out if he’s still in the mood but she isn’t. It reads as a heightened need for fusion, you can still satisfy your own needs in a partnership if/when your partner is out of commission. I think Ramses might’ve been sexually needy in relationships before and experienced being iced out by his partner, but he’s not looking at himself and what is reasonable, nor is he communicating his concerns in a healthy way, because I think we can see a glimmer of what he’s trying to say but it’s cloaked in so much need and so many unrealistic expectations. He just dumps 100% of his needs on Marissa, which is exactly what she said she didn’t want in a partnership. If you can’t take a couple of nights off spicy times, marriage may not be for you. It’s about more than sex, and the worst is she’d likely get back in the mood faster if he helped with the other things that are stressing her out rather than just adding his raw boners to her plate of stuff to do!

It’s clear they are not compatible. Tim comes across petty and purposeful in his rudeness whereas Alex’s faults seem more like she’s being herself but the actions are atypical and come off as inconsiderate.

Maybe it has something to do with where you are on the spectrum of introvert->extrovert, but personally I’d be socially exhausted after spending 4hr with anyone, let alone meeting the family with cameras on.

I find it interesting that Nick not being attracted to Hannah is such a big deal. The reason these people get engaged on the show is because they are attracted to their partner’s personality, communication style, values, how they are treating others, etc. right? I think it’s the same way in terms of later on. Once they “see” who the person really is in real life. I think that Hannah’s facade was dropped, and she started being extremely cruel. I don’t know how you can be attracted to someone who treats you like that. She talks about getting “the ick” from the dorky things he does, but she makes me sick in talking to him like that. So it might not even be physical attraction that he’s talking about. Also, I think he’s afraid to be honest with her. Speaking from experience, it’s really hard to be honest with people who are emotionally and psychologically abusive.

Coffee doesn't help in these situations. Especially for neurodivergents, I have adhd coffee just makes me more tired. I'd rather give the people I'm with my full attention and energy rather than being so drained that I have to fake being happy to be around them. I've been forced so many times to socialize when I didn't have the bandwidth but now I always put my health first.

Please research the symptoms of MS for women. Maybe it will give you some insight into some of Alex’s moods and actions, including the sleepiness. Alex has not indicated a diagnosis of MS for herself, but it is very likely that she has MS traits. And, Alex could be developing the disorder in her body unaware. The responses are actually often more varied than just fight or flight… The Fs are fight, flight, freeze or fawn (some now also include a 5th - flop). Many people don’t know the last two and they are also quite common in threatening or traumatic situations. Women especially can sometimes be hard on themselves for freezing up or for cozying up to an attacker in a dangerous situation, so it’s helpful to spread awareness that these are also very common responses to threats. In an ideal world we could pock the approach that best suits the situation, but as these are usually fairly immediate knee-jerk reactions to very negative stimuli most of is have a go-to based on our trauma response. Mine is freeze, and I’ve come to embrace it as it gives me time to process what’s happening.

People are talking about how men don’t understand women, but I don’t think that women understand that when men have high sex drives, the only way for them to release it in a healthy way is with sex. When the one persons who is supposed to want you tells you that they don’t even want to touch you, it can become world shattering. The urge for sex is stronger with men so you should understand that a sexless marriage is more devastating for men

This is the first time I've heard the Nick part about telling people he didn't find Hannah attractive. He's definitely immature in a lot of ways regarding relationships so this doesn't surprise me. Hannah basically told the cameras that she was not attracted to Nick initially and I wouldn't be surprised if she wasn't also "faking" her sudden change of attraction toward Nick for the cameras. I would be interested to know when Nick told people he was not attracted to Hannah as I would give him more grace if it happened after she made that list since I do think that's something that can lower someone's attractiveness, but he also felt like he had to keep telling her he was for both the cameras and fear of what Hannah might say to him. I definitely felt like both Hannah and Nick were aware of the cameras throughout where Nick tried to always say the right thing and Hannah tried to show her concerns about Nick constantly in the hopes that the other person would get the villain edit.
Just like Tim and Alex, they should never have been together, they should have never joined this show, and I hope they both grow from this experience.

Gaslighting is a serious form of abuse that usually takes place over months or years. Getting mixed up in conversations and telling white lies can be bad or offensive behaviour, but please can we save gaslighting for victims of abuse? (Actually, tbf, the ship has sailed... Us abuse victims probably just need to find new words as these old ones mean something different now... language is always evolving and I can make peace with that haha. It's just weird after being convinced of a completely separately reality over a series of years to think think that these are the same thing.)

This! 💯 Same goes for narcissism and all the other psychological terms and diagnoses that are being thrown around.

@@zimtapfel yes ❤️mental health awareness was meant to make people more aware thus kinder towards these issues. Instead there's so much misinformation that the awareness has turned into something really quite offensive and diminishes the effects of real abuse and real illnesses.

1:02:05 my ex texted me, (he was a 🚩) and I told him very strongly that I was not interested in him and was very happily engaged… I was soooo divided on if I should tell my fiancé or not, but I just didn’t because it wasn’t a big deal, he wouldn’t care.

I'm so glad you provided some clarification on Tim/Alex's situation! I've heard others questioning Tim leaving Alex over her taking a nap. There's so little time & making an impression without cameras rolling is crucial to the foundation of these relationships!

Omg YES to your interpretation on Hannah and Nick.
If he really wanted her, I think he would’ve fought for her a little more. When she would go off on him, his face would be blank like he was disassociating & just trying to get thru the show.
Responding in any substantive way would risk Nick being portrayed negatively. So Hannah kept filling the void bc he wasn’t really asking anything of her. He wanted her to end it so he didn’t have to.
Hannah did not handle herself well, but I think she was trying to push some emotional reaction out of him bc he really was soooo blasé out of the pods. But, maybe that was bc Hannah dumped on him so much he just was over it very early on.
Hannah continually saying “I’m a direct person” says to me hmm nah you’re socially unaware or intentionally hurtful. Everything she said on her little list was projection of HERSELF.

I like that you share your thoughts. Don't be unbiased it would be boring. Your podcast and Psychology in Seattle are my favorites and ones I look forward to.

Natalis, you were right!!! Sadly so.... the season sucks and Ramses is not a dating material, Stephen appears like he has a sexual addiction problem, Tyler is a master liar, and Tim and Alex had a toxic breakup. Oh Garrett's texting thing - orange/red flag. Trust in relationships is not given and it takes time to develop it, and then to maintain it. What he did was a bad move and I am sure it eroded some trust. I hope that he learns from it and does better by her in the future.

I wonder if Ashley knew everything off-camera and decided not to share details on camera.

Alex was totally in the wrong for how she behaved, BUT Tim's transgressions were 100% significantly worse! Tim acts like a child who was never taught how to communicate or address conflict. Ever since the honeymoon when he was ready to drop her over that off-camera argument, and he had to be convinced to continue the relationship, I was very skeptical about his ability to get over himself. He went from "fully expecting this to be the last time they ever spoke" to asking her father for her hand in marriage to "I never want to see you again"?! Holy whiplash, Batman! This man is unstable and he doesn't want a partner, he wants a submissive woman who does what she's told. And that is not Alex!
Ramses reminds me more and more of my ex the more I see of him. That soft "I totally understand you, but what about my penis tho?" Miss me with that! And why isn't Ramses inviting his family?! That man does not want to marry her. I think he's gonna say no at the altar.
I'm so glad Nick and Hannah are over. That was a toxic relationship (and I don't throw that term around lightly.) Katie gave him more validation in 45 minutes than Hannah did in 4 weeks. She's too mean.
I don't get why it's either "yes, those are my kids" or "no, those aren't my kids." Why is there no inbetween?! He could just as easily taken the road of "they call me Uncle Tyler."
Hot take: I feel like Taylor's initial reaction to finding out Garrett's ex texted him dictated how much detail he wanted to give her. She got way too mad over just the idea of a text from an ex being received, and that might have made him want to refrain from giving any more detail. Unfortunately, that's what made her blow up. Mistakes were made, and lessons were learned. I forgive Garrett. (Also, it seemed he didn't show her the text immediately because he didn't have his phone on his person at that moment.) I personally would prefer my partner to have responded to a DM with a definite stance than to just "like" or "heart" it. No response leaves the door wide open. I'm with Deepti on this, tbh. In this situation, it was so innocuous that it wasn't worth mentioning. He's not entertaining the idea of getting back with his ex, so it literally doesn't matter.
