    I need to visit your place sometime this year. How is the Keitt mango coming along?

    • @TheNaveed787
      @TheNaveed787  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      Keitt mango is in the pot recovering slowly. It has some new growth but it still need some more time to recover.

    *How does it compare to (Super Julie)*

    • @TheNaveed787
      @TheNaveed787  9 วันที่ผ่านมา

      Super Julie mango is very fruity in taste. It has sweet and then some tart component to it. Super Julie flesh is little more firm that Alphonso mango. Alphonso mango has floral aroma and sweet. It has not tartness to it when full ripe. It is also smaller in size than SJ. Both are very good tasting mango in their own way.

      In Phoenix, Arizona in my garden, Alphonso starts to flower in late March and then fruit is ripe on the tree in frist week of August.

    Is the tree productive? I wanted to plant Alfonso, but I heard the tree had been poor producer.

    • @TheNaveed787
      @TheNaveed787  4 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      This was it's first fruiting year. I got 13 mangoes. The tree is not big. I planted as a 15 gallon in 2017. Let us see how it produces in 2020, then we will know more. Mango trees grow slowly in Phoenix soil, that is a problem also.

    • @maggietawadrous7349
      @maggietawadrous7349 4 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      That’s awesome. 13 mangoes in first year fruiting and the tree still small! I think it’s doing great in Phoenix.

      It’s beautiful healthy tree, and is doing good. Definitely the weather and soil control the productivity of the tree. Some mango varieties need chill hours before flowering, and the is the most that control the fruit number. Alphonso is the best, however it doesn’t produce well in Florida, it does well in other places. I will plant one next spring. It worth the try. We have warm weather in so cal.

    • @TheNaveed787
      @TheNaveed787  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      Depends on your place temperature range. What is your min and max temperature?

      Mango tree should grow in that temp range but for it to flower and fruit you need a minimum of at least 10 C in winter for at least 2 to 3 weeks.

    Don't call it Alphonso.. Alphonso is grown only in India-ratnagiri

    • @nikobaka5272
      @nikobaka5272 2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Originally Alphonso was imported from Mexico to India.bhoth countries has similar seasons/temperatures also mangoes needs soil with rich in Iron. Which kokan is blessed with and it was a big success for growing Alphonso mango.
      I always wondered why all mangoes from the kokan test best. It was red, Iron rich soil.
