  • This video Briefs shell and tube type heat exchanger FE Analysis. It explains how to apply thermal loading on shell side and tube side, How to carry thermal loads in structural analysis in ANSYS workbench. How to coupled thermal with structural analysis. It also explains results extraction like deformation and stresses, stress linearization, stress assessment, etc.

Thank you so much for that great effort. Can you please share the video where you explained the stress assesment table. when we do thermal analysis and we consider it as secondary stress, should we take the total stress and compare it with 3s. Thanks again

hello sir how do you make tubes and tube sheet

  • @mangeshbanale9741

    Dear Sir,
We are performing fatigue analysis of bem type heat exchanger. Tubesheet is welded to shell & bolted with girth flange of channel. As per me due to large thermal difference between channel side and shell side.
Due to this, radial thermal expansion of tubesheet is large. And as tubesheet is bolted with girth flange of channel, it is not allowing radial thermal growth of tubesheet. Contact between bolt and bolt head is modelled as bonded contact. Should we go for frictional contact or bonded contact is sufficient.
    Thanks

Hello ! You can cross check the applied thermal loads as well as thermal material properties (thermal conductivity and thermal expansion, etc.). If materials and other details are okay, it results (expansion) is proper. for bolt and (bolt heat or nut) Bonded contact is sufficient, frictional contact will come if any gasket is placed.

Hi! If there was an explosion in the head - tube side, would the force of the explosion be confined to the head section only? Would the tubesheets isolate the forces of the explosion on the shell side?

It should have impact on shell side too. Tube sheet is connected to both shell and tube side, hence it will impact both the side.

Sir can I get results of above model and model dimensions
Because I have opted a project from this video
But my laptop is taking too much time to respond I kept it for around 5 he for meshing but no results

      Hello!
We usually delete files after video.
This is simplified model assumed for explanations. You can let me know what kind of issue you are facing. Meshing will not take that much time. Do step by step...
