    I was Laughing my ass off while you were trying to get the 2-4 servo cover off! All you had to do was hit it with a hammer and it would depress the cover so you can get the snapping off. I do remember you saying that you have never done a 4l60e before. Also taking the shift detent spring off makes taking the valve body off easier. Oh well, live and learn!

    Hey Carl , next time push in on the servo cover or at least tap it with a soft blow and it'll let the snap ring out easier ,the ken moore tool bolts to the pan rail and has a c clamp type end that pushes on it while your taking out the ring, I dont use it but thats the theory of it , the vette servo's are a bear with the Hd springs. Keep up the vids buddy! Im sure you've helped alot of people with them

    Hello Broncocarl - I have a GM auto track transfer case in my 06 GMC Yukon 4x4. I noticed that I can move the output shaft for the rear driveshaft in and out about 2/16" of an inch; there is also about 1/16" up and down play on the yoke. All drives fine and I have no leaks. I only noticed this b/c I removed my drive shaft to inspect the u-joints, and they were fine. Just doing regular maintenance since the truck has 115,000 miles.

    Hey bud I didn't read the comments but the first thing I noticed is that it had the wrong filter on it, shallow filter. It needs a deep filter otherwise it won't pickup fluid to pump, this running dry, lack of lubrication caused this problem.

    This was a great Video. I've never seen an automatic Tranny teardown before. all I've seen in the past is the Check valve plate. but never a total teardown.
    " totally Baked " ?? hmmm... ok so the ball was jammed not allowing fluid to circulate, choking lubrication therefore a "dryout" heated up, seized & exploded. metal parts left flying around as indicated under the fluid cover. this is just my opinion so tell me if I'm right or wrong. I'm just trying to understand what the cause was. this vid is great to initiate thoughts and discussion. loved it. I wish you filmed the re-installation to the end.

    I came here searching for answers hopefully. I just replaced the sun shell in my ‘99 4L60E with only 50k on it. While I was in there, I did a trans go shift kit, wide band and heavy duty sun shell. After about 30 miles I was in deep snow and in reverse and there was a loud bang and I lost reverse. After getting tugged out of the snow, I drove it forward into the shop. I never tested other forward gears, but assumed the HD sun shell was the culprit as a manufacturer’s defect. After another tear down, I still have good sun shell and my low reverse clutches are in great shape. I can still read the letters on the friction discs! I have a small 3 part video series on my TH-cam channel playlist if you’d like to check my work at all. Could you give any thoughts on what would cause no reverse with a good clutch setup and a good sun shell and no other visual damage? Also in your video you mentioned the case saver spring. Mine was just under the external C clip holding the reverse clutches and output shaft assay in place... just sitting there. Is that correct?

    • @PullStartStables
      @PullStartStables 3 ปีที่แล้ว

      I believe I found my answer. After re-assembling the internals, I found damage on the 2-4 band near that stationary pin. Possibly it popped off. I believe I need that and the low reverse clutches engaged to drive backwards?

    Hey boss my name is rogelio, I replaced the transmission in my car when I put everything back together I put 5 quarters of fluid the car didn't move I thought I didn't put right so more fluid and it moves back and forth , so I know it was moving and I took it out for a test drive, very fist it change from 1st to 2nd gear fine as I was driving I noticed it wasn't switching gears I drive it for 15 minutes around the gagegear go to 3rd and doesn't change, and the speed gage only go to 20 if I accelerate more it goes 23,25 mph no more , I when home check the fluid it was not showing in the dip stick I added 3.1/2 of fluid it was right about this line of the deep stick (hot) took it for a ride same thing please help

    • @bobbysixsevenw
      @bobbysixsevenw 6 ปีที่แล้ว

      Rojo Ibarra I don't know how many quarts you put in total. But those things hold a lot of fluid. And at least half of it stays in the torque converter so it won't show up on the stick. It's not uncommon for the first time you drive it to pass an air bubble and need more fluid
