Ah, 1996, such a beloved time...😌 I had just turned 10 at the end of October...🎂 I loved playing Shadows of the Empire on Nintendo 64...🎮 I keep a Dash Rendar figure hanging on my wall to ceremoniously commemorate all the fun I had with playing the game...😏 I often look at it and smile because it takes me back to the simpler times in life...❤
Of all the Expanded Universe material from back in those days Shadows of the Empire was my personal favorite! I still have and often read the novel and comics while listening to the fantastic soundtrack! I had all the figures loose back then and have recently gone back to get them in the packaging. While not worth all that much I really like the figures.
I just bought an Outrigger in the box with a loose Dash Rendar with accessories! Can't wait for it to arrive. This collection is small. I may just get it all. I also have the Secrets of The Shadows of the Empire book and the Soundtrack CD on their way too! Fun!

Shadows of the Empire was the first video game to scare the SHIT out of me. I had the Dash Rendar action figure while my cousin had the Outrider (we both had Slave 1). I also had Bounty Hunter Chewbacca but never got my mitts on Imperial Guard Luke. Ahhh the memories.
Was it the Wampa Ice monster attacking Dash in Echo Base that scared the shit out of you??? I can remember my heart racing at that. Or maybe it was battling IG-88 in the junkyards ….IG killed me quite a few times. I will say that I whooped and hollered out loud in the first mission where you got to fly a Snowspeeder at the Battle of Hoth!!!! Damn, that was so much fun!!!!
My brother and I have lots of fun memories of the video game! Also as a Micro Machines collector I'm really happy they made Micros for Shadows of the Empire!

Sadly this line hurt the release of the Expanded Universe wave in 1998. For those, I was lucky to get Thrawn, Mara Jade, DE Luke, DE Leia and the Clone Emperor at Toys R Us and that was the only time I saw any of those on the pegs.

I have most of the unique figures, not the Boba Fett or Vader, but i managed to find all the others, shocking how ANY sets of Star Wars anything can go for so little. However I find the $10 thing odd as they are still about £20-30 carded in England and that was for 2 figures (Luke Skywalker in Imperial Guard Disguise and Prince Xizor) for me at a convention in 2017. Over 2x times the price even when you consider $ are worth more now.
Awesome review! The Outrider could have done without the battle changing gimmick. I also fee like they should have made it a bit bigger and have it at least hold three figures. Two in the cockpit and maybe allow the top turret open up to seat a figure there.

I do like the POTF2 figures and Shadows of the Empire but the Outrider isn't a good vehicle. Should have been about half the size of the Kenner mold falcon.
The Star Wars dark period was awful. No toys or much of anything else, and we were so desperate we bought a few of those bendy figures. The new movies seemed like such a far off dream! I remember when Shadows of the Empire came out and Lucasfilm was pushing it hard. I remember thinking Dash Rendar and Prince Xizor were lame (stupid names too) and had absolutely no interest in them, same for bounty hunter Chewie and guard Luke. We bought the Slave I, Boba Fett and IG-88 2-pack, and Boush Leia, though I can't remember what card Leia was on. Don't think I was aware of Dash's ship being for sale, but I would get it confused with Dengar's ship anyway. Wasn't terribly interested in it anyway. Don't know if I knew about the novel. Couldn't play the game because I didn't have an N64. I can see why the Shadows-specific toys didn't sell, and I remember them being peg warmers myself. I was going to say you forgot Prince Xizor's ship, but looks like it didn't get a 3 & 3/4 inch scale version?
