      I wouldn't know I never watch that hot f****** garbage. With a production value of Omega level awesome. Which makes it all the worst.
      How good could this show have been if they weren't trying to destroy everything that came before it. But more importantly injecting their social sociopolitical ideologies into stories it has no business being.

The new uniforms, a new species (Kelpiens) or two (the president being a hybrid of some known species does technically count as new if we've never seen that particular kind of hybrid before), holographic interfaces, those drone-thingies (I like their idea tho, explains alot) and suddenly you get enough difference to count....

      @@JasonM69 I found this on IMDB
      Contrary to what may be thought, the omission of the wave scene was not a studio decision; director James Cameron and producer Gale Anne Hurd had final cut as long as the movie was kept under an agreed-upon length of 135 minutes, and according to Cameron, the studio was even disappointed to see the wave scene go. However, the special effects of the scene had not been finished, and reactions from test audiences to the unfinished scene were mixed. So Cameron and Hurd were faced with the decision to either trim shots and parts of scenes away from other parts of the movie, or remove an entire subplot. They decided upon the latter, feeling that the first option would hurt the movie's focus and character development, and they also thought that the movie's theme still work without the wave scene, although less overtly. So the tidal wave scenes were never completely finished during post-production.

    Back in 2014, Jonathan Rhys-Davies revealed in an interview some interesting bits about his departure from the TV series Sliders:
    "We did an episode like Tremors, one like Twister, one like The Night of the Living Dead and even one like Doctor Moreau's Island, using the film's original masks!" He found the writers were just "looting" these ideas rather than using these as a tribute, pointing to one episode where Quinn needed to cross an invisible bridge and on approaching the writer about it, discovered he had never seen Indiana Jones and the Last Crusade which Rhys-Davies had starred in and simply used the idea instead of toying with the meta nature of the scene.
    For Rhys-Davies, "the breaking point for me was when I walked in and saw the writers sitting around looking at a DVD of Species which had just been released and saying: 'Look, we could take a bit of that scene there and a bit of that scene there.'"
    Begins at 2:30 here th-cam.com/video/JKVPqIRJZZM/w-d-xo.html
    While I have no doubt that this sort of behavior is very common in the movie and TV industry, I have a feeling that Kurtzman and the other NuTrek writers are literally doing the exact same thing down to a T, maybe with some copyright lawyers near them to avoid any lawsuits.

    reusing and re-telling stories is incredibly common, the thing is a good writer will take someone else idea and build upon it, provide their take, twist it, create something new, and know when something new needs to be created or the story simply needs to be retold/continued/ended. A bad writer will not know any of this nuance, see a cool scene, and then add it to their creation.
    The story of attempting to break a communication barrier with an extraterrestrial is not a new story, it is one that has been told many of times, the thing is they took all of the most recent retellings and takes. They did not bring up a new idea, a new problem, nor did they solve it in a unique way. It would be one thing to redo a story like the day the earth stood still as it has been decades sense that one's been told, but they stole stuff from recent ones that did not need to be retold/were already retold recently.

    1 - It's Terrible. Ridiculous characters, plots, & no character development, except for maybe Booger, and his Space Cat. Apparently, they are bad guys now. I heard a rumor, that they were running from the Feds, so they could go join the Guardians of the Galaxy. To replace Rocket & Star-boy. (Sounds like a comic).
    And 2 - Mikey, Ambassador Spock's, (seriously, we just forgot to mention it for 50 years), illigitament full blood earth sister, is the only solution we need to any problems we may ever face now, or in the Future. Personal, or Galactic, or in this case, Extra-Galactic.

    but how/why alien code would translate so directly into English? binary is a vastly more logical base code to comunicate with, than English with it's convoluted rules of grammar. As for numbering the keyboard keys idea? that's a bit arrogant. most likely easyer to just teach them binary first, then English later. Most likely even Morse code would be convoluted giberish, to someone who was so different.

    • @ge2719
      @ge2719 2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      In sphere they werent really communicating with aliens sothe numbering the keys was afactor of who yey were actually talking to being a maths genius. it turned out they were talking to one of the peoples subconcious. The sohere was giving them all the ability to manifest things into reality. So one person created the character they were talking to. Dislike of squid created a giant squid. Anothers fear of drownings was destroying the vessel. If i remember right.
      Its one of those movies i can never remember all the scenes or what order they are in.
