    Omg as someone who's working on a ton of science themed blender stuff this channel is my fav! Keep up the amazing work! I've been binging every video on this channel

    Nice tutorial. How can a dummy cover be added?

      Thank you! Yes, I forgot to mention that. You just insert the image by adding it as a plane: Shift + a --> image --> images as plane

    I have been following your tutorials for quite a while now and I really appreciate your efforts here.
    But, I have been facing a difficulty while I import a pdb file in Blender
    When I import the pdb file... the file gets imported successfully but the atoms are not visible.
    Is there any solution for this?

    • @LuminousLab
      @LuminousLab  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      Hmm, hard to say what causes the problem without seeing the file.
      Maybe you can give me more details.
      Do you use the internal pdb loading addon?
      Is the location of the atoms loaded correctly but just the sphere are missing?
      What version of Blender do you use?
      Does that happen for everything pdb file or just a specific one?

    • @AtharvaKannav
      @AtharvaKannav 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@LuminousLab Yes... I am using the internal addon and my blender version is 3.2.
      And this happens to all the pdb file where only the sphere are missing....the location of atoms is loaded correctly.

      @@AtharvaKannav Ok, I looked into it and I think its a problem with the new version of Blender and Atomic Blender Addon, but there are option to fix it.
      1) Using an older Version of Blender (e.g. 3.1.2). You can download all previous versions of Blender form Blender.org (on the download page there is a tab called "previous versions").
      2) With version 3.2: Upon importing you get the import settings (in the same window where you brows for your files on the right side). There you can choose the "type of ball". By default it is set to NURBS. If you set it to mesh, the atoms should appear.
      Let me know if it worked for you!
      This issue might be hopefully fixed in the future, but for now I think we have to live with it.
      If you want you can also look into a new addon called "Molecular Nodes". It is a bit of a different concept and based on geometry nodes, but is really great.
      The link is in the description of this video. But I am unsure what the current development status is. I think the new version for Blender 3.2 is released soon, but if you roll back to an older version of Blender, "Molecular Nodes" should work fine.

    Thank you so much for your tutorials! Im learning a lot! Do you know where to apply for cover design job? any advice?

    • @LuminousLab
      @LuminousLab  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      Happy to hear that they are helpful. You normally get hired by the scientists that get the invitation for the cover design. That's how it normally works.

    Great video as usual. I am following you. Can you please make more basic videos especially chemistry, basic equipment, graphical abstract etc?

      Good to hear that you enjoy the videos! I will put your requests on my list, thank you for the suggestions. If you have not done so yet, defintily check out CGfigues' channel (th-cam.com/users/CGFigures), he also has great chemisty related content!

    Thanks a lot for this great tutorial, all tips were very useful!
    Regarding your illustrations (covers, graphical abstracts, etc), do you get copyrights when they are published? Can you ask the journal/client that your name be included somewhere (e.g. acknowledgment) to gain more visibility?

    • @LuminousLab
      @LuminousLab  2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Happy to hear they are useful!
      Some journals ask how you would like to be credited upon signing the copyright papers when the design is accepted, some don't (that is especially true for covers). If they don't, you can give that information to the authors and they can make sure that you are credited.
      For smaller work like figures or graphical abstract you can ask the author to add you to the acknowledges for sure.
      Concerning copyright (I'm not a legal expert, so please take what I say with a grain of salt): for everything you create you automatically own the copyright. So the publisher or client needs to get the rights from you first. If your design is published (and copyright is given to the publisher), you can still use it for e.g. your portfolio.

      It used to be my job. I still do work for former customers from time to time but currently I don't take on new projects.
