    Nick's taco is still the cleanest that has come out of this shop 🤤 Is the leaf under kit or 05-15 tacoma mainly bolt on, or fabrication intensive like this install?

    • @dirtking
      @dirtking  2 ปีที่แล้ว +3

      Our long travel spring under kit bolts on wherever possible without compromising the strength. Some components must be welded such as the frame gusset, bump stop mounts, spring perches, and shock tabs on the axle. All the hangers and bed cage bolt in place. Every item has detailed instructions to make the installation as easy as possible.

    Did he have a custom drive shaft to get those number of travel with your kit?

    • @dirtking
      @dirtking  2 หลายเดือนก่อน +2

      4WD models, you don't need to modify the driveshaft because it already has a slip yoke. The 2WD models don't have it from the factory, so it needs to be added to get the full-wheel travel the kit offers.

    Well of course you're gonna have more travel cus you went through the bed lol

      Yeah first thing I noticed was how the shock was tucked with a bed hoop, I’m assuming the guy just wanted to throw on the biggest shock possible and wasn’t thinking of the fitment and the correct parts to tie it all together for what he really wanted the truck to do. Then spent twice what he initially spent when cutting holes in the bed and a proper bed cage is all he needed, the dream customer for any fabrication and off-road shop.

      @@davidarteaga6054 yeah.. first shockbwas ok. It should still do ok... but bed cage will utilize alot more travel.. I'm trying to do rear also. And keep asuch bed as posible

      @@damnitdang I’m removing my bed completely when I go spring under on my Tacoma, put in a bed cage and weld up the bedside supports. After all that is in place mount the spare tires and then figure out all the recovery gear mounts and a spot for a cooler to be secured. Bare bones as much as possible in the back and shave a bunch of weight off.

    Can you run a stock leaf spring with this kit? And do you have to build your own cross Member in the rear or is that something we can purchase from you guys and weld it on ourselves?

    • @dirtking
      @dirtking  ปีที่แล้ว

      No this kit only works with long travel leaf under springs and the cross bar must be made yourself. We are currently developing a kit similar to this for leaf over springs.

    What paint you guys use on the frame and black components got a super nice flat clean finish to it SteeliT?

    • @dirtking
      @dirtking  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      We use summit racing flat black chassis paint. It's durable when applied correctly and nice uniform look. Another brand that we like is Por15. It lays heavy and self leveling. Almost looks like powder coat. The advantage of summit paint is it's resistant to brake fluid.

    What are the advantages of leaf under vs leaf over? I have a 2015 Silverado 1500.

    • @dirtking
      @dirtking  3 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      We recommend leaf over or leaf under depending on the vehicle. For the Tacoma's you need to run leaf under springs to get the travel. The leaf over spring for the Tacomas don't provide nearly as much travel as the leaf under. For the 07-18 Silverado's we recommend the Deaver U182 leaf over springs because they provide a lot of travel and easy installation. You can get another 2" of travel out of the leaf under springs but it requires a lot of fab work and a custom drive shaft. The performance gain going to leaf under isn't worth the cost in our opinion on those vehicles.
