- 1969 Mercedes-Benz 250CE W114 Restoration Project
This 1969 Mercedes 250CE was first registered in Iceland but has spent much of its recent life in London.
The owner of the vehicle wished to restore it to its original quality and eventually return to its country of origin.
An appraisal was carried out which formed the basis for a detailed estimate which in certain areas due to be parts availability would be fairly challenging.
With all parts sourced and pre purchased the restoration commenced, John Haynes timeline dictated a 14 month restoration due to so much bodywork to be carried out.
With most of the body requiring new panels the vehicle spent the first 8 months in John Haynes body shop before returning for the re-assembly stages.
This restoration resulted in some of the best work John Haynes have carried out as it is a model rarely restored, when completed the result was an exceptional looking vehicle, both John Haynes themselves and the customer were extremely pleased.
A really great model of Mercedes-Benz in a very cool and sharp looking colour combination.

This video purpose is to tell world about amazing car build project and to inspire ever growing car builder community around the world. That doesn't look as restoration. This looks more like complete new car build around nothing.
good on you, but with the floor and sills gone it would have been a parts car for me.
Excellent restoration, but forgot to paint the lip black under the front bumper.
I have one just like yours, but with a sunroof. Same color even ! Its a 1975 .
Excellent job but terrible music in the video...
I bought a 1973 280E when I was 25 and I never had such a pleasant sedan car to drive on small roads. I now own a 2010 E350cdi but it is designed mostly for highways.
The 280E was a "sleeper" (185 bhp and 4 speed automatic gearbox) and the 1985 VW GTI 16S were ridiculous when the traffic light changes and even on top speed.
Unfortunately the rust has destroyed most of these cars in North Europe, due to winter salt on the roads and poor rust protection.
It seems that CE have more survived than sedan, probably because their expensive price leads to have less different owners and less mileage.
This is the most incredible thing I’ve ever seen, a masterpiece!!
Now that is a restoration!
Where you find part from im looking for parts for mine such as grill, and rockers and more.
