Very clever
I can't help but think George Harrison would have absolutely loved this. Beautifully done, bravo.
Thank You! that's a noble thought...he's one of my music heroes / daniel
Perhaps George is listening. Well done! Makes me want to get a lute.
He would have flipped out I'm 100% certain
George would have bought a lute the day after hearing this.
Yas yes he would have. So beautiful.
So accurate that he even got Clapton's noodlings throughout the song thrown in. Amazing piece of work.
Thanks Alice!
I will never complain about the chore of changing strings and re-tuning my 6 string guitar ever again. Good Lord the thought of doing that to a lute feels like repainting the house. Beautiful performance of a beautiful song, thank you for sharing and keeping the lute alive
Thanks for the comment Chaplin!
@@danbluedeer How many strings? Looks like 15.
@@julier.1902 I think it has 17 strings.
"If a lute-player has lived eighty years, he has surely spent sixty years tuning." - Johann Mattheson, 1713
Then add the fact that he is using gut strings, which are notorious for loosing tune much faster then any other stings...
I don’t know how this ended up in my feed but I’m glad it did. This is beautiful.
Thank You! glad you like / daniel
Could not agree more!
Me too - I think TH-cam has me worked out as "music - eclectic", but I'm not sorry - really enjoyed this.
Me too. Amazing
I could see him doing some Led Zeppelin too
While my lute gently weeps
I suppose some lute purists were weeping when they clicked on this....
It's the nature of the lute. Semper Dowland semper dolens. Dowland always sad by his own admission.
@@TheCompleteGuitarist It's said that Dowland was actually kind of a happy guy who cultivated a persona that portrayed himself as dour and doleful
@@danbluedeer Probably, melancholoy was the 'cool' mode in those days.
@@danbluedeer While the purists may complain, the act of playing contemporary tunes on such instruments is a good way to spark interest. If people are not interested, the instrument will just "lay in the corner".
Still my favourite Beatles track. And playing it on a single ancient instrument demonstrates what a truly fine piece of music it is. Great interpretation, masterfully executed.
Thank you.
Thanks Jason! I appreciate your comment
Jason Doust All of The Beatles music stands the test of being played by a Classical Orchestra.
Exactly right ♥️
The lute in the past, the present and still a great future for the lute. Fantastic musician!
Thanks John!
“M’lord he has playethed the Tritone! Send him to the rack!”
I've always been afraid someone might hear that....
I heard a rumor that the tritone was once forbidden.
While my Lute gently SINS
Tritones are the devil's work gosh darn it
Please explain the technical reference to a tritone.
@@pip5528 Same as what they said about Rock 70 years ago.
I don't see no weeping here, just pure outright joy!
Thanks for the comment! / daniel
Your beautiful rendition of "As My Guitar Gently Weeps" made me weep. *George Harrison* stands in ovation.
Thank You!
I have been finger-picking this song on my classical for about 8 months now, and I must say sir, it's nowhere as beautiful as this. Absolutely loved it sir. Thank you for sharing it.
Thanks Lohit! keep playing
Bravo sir! I know in my heart George would have appreciated this played by you. Absolutely amazing and moving.
Thank You!
Finally TH-cam recommendations is doing a good job again. This is amazing!
Thanks Duck!
I was skeptical at first but it converted me to what a lute is capable of. Beautiful.
Thanks! glad to have a convert...
I’m a true George Harrison freak (note my user name) and this is my favorite composition from him and this arrangement just makes me cry.
thanks!
You're so talented, Daniel. What a blessing that you choose to share your playing with others. I came across you playing Bach on ukelele and have been enchanted by you since! Thank you for sharing. It is inspiring to see someone play in the way that you do. Hope you have a happy holiday season!
Thank You Miss Sofija! I appreciate the kind words of encouragement... it keeps me wanting to do more / Daniel
This is amazing, your channel deserves more recognition!
Thanks Plorx! I'll keep at it regardless. Daniel
I love how you still replied to all of the comments here
thanks -- that's nice to hear
This is a vastly enjoyable composition! For sure one of my favorite songs, and on what a beautiful instrument!
Thanks Hunter! glad you like it / daniel
One of my favorite Beatles songs.
me too! / daniel
My feelings: 0:23 “I can do that easily...”. 1:45 “oh shoot nevermind!” 😆 you are great, kind sir!
Thanks Angelo!
A master playing Harrison with an ancient instrument - some measures in there are the sweetest sounds I've ever heard.
Thanks! glad you like it
Beautifull, nothing else can COMPARE with such a majestic AROURA of emotions. "THANK YOU"!!! Magnificently performed.
Thanks Sean!
I love that people still dedicate their time to keeping the Old Arts alive a well!
Thank You! there are some great pieces from the past
@@danbluedeer I think it's awesome that you engage your audience as well. You just earned yourself a Sub and a fan! Cant wait to see more of your work!
Ye olde arts
If something is really worth saving it will be carried throughout the centuries. Then there are stuff that was very likable but didn't become memorable enough to keep going so people only get to know the history of it instead instead of seeing or hearing it for the first time. Just glad to see & hear a lot of the really old classical instruments have survived time.
Very memorable thank you.
Guitars aren’t that new either...
This is the sort of quality content that TH-cam needs more of!
Thanks Graeme! I appreciate the comment / daniel
i love that it sounds even more minimalist than the original. great job!
Thanks! you're referring to George's initial audition tape for the band? -- I love that stripped down version...
A very late reply, but yes i did ^^
Amazing instrument, amazing musician! Shows the timelessness of a melody...
Thank you! I appreciate your comment / daniel
Harrison would be proud. Excellent job!
Thank You! I appreciate the comment / daniel
Oh wow. That sounds amazing! It's giving me chills.
Thanks Diana!
Thank you Maestro for your hard work and sharing the marriage of a timeless song with a timeless instrument. BRAVO !!!!!!
Thanks Andres! glad you like it
I clicked on this unsure of what this would sound like and was not only surprised but actually found myself really appreciating how much time it must take to master an ancient instrument and then to transcribe a song. Thank you for sharing such a gift with the world!
Thanks Ava!
Great. Now I want a lute! Sounding killer!
Thanks Eddie! I'll warn you--lutes are addictive....buyer beware.
Daniel
Hello!
Just looking at the lute and listening to the sounds can be captivating. So also for the guitar.
With this piece you have appreciated besides what you have said in your replies, is the arrangement of the piece; like an orchestra.
You have done a good job and I think there could be an arranger in you!
You could be forgiven for not using the other stings as guitars and lutes have built in spreading of harmony.
I can say this because I am as old as the hills.
Hope your musical interests compensate for the harsh realities if life!
Thanks for the video.
That’s so beautiful and impressive. I love this song, and after a time without listening to it, the experience of listening the song with this arrangement was really special. Thanks for the video, you are very talented!
Glad you enjoy it!
Who are the jack-wagons that could ever give a thumbs down on this? This is amazing!
Thanks!
Made me tear up with joy! This is music in its purest most beautiful form. Thank you, sir!
Kara -Glad you enjoyed it!
Love watching his face as he moves through the song. Beautifully done, indeed.
Thanks! I never know what my face is doing until I post the video
Wonderful arrangement and performance. I think you are one of the most solid lutenists/guitarists on TH-cam, especially with all those original arrangements!
Thanks Ido! Your comments are inspiring. Daniel
Skvělé aranžmá, úplně to změnilo dojem z původní písně, ale stále ještě je tam vzadu k rozpoznání stopa Beatles. Barokní loutna - no to je něco! Bezvadný sound. Děkuji a zdravím z Čech.
Thanks! I appreciate the comment
What a beautiful and enjoyable interpretation. Thank You.
Thanks for listening
enjoyed this so very much, thank you. George would have loved this!!!
Lawrence -Thanks for listening!

Thanks jane! I'm working on a new one..just need to get it up to tempo / daniel
I've always gotta stop and listen every time I hear this song played!!😢
It's a great tune, by George
As of the time of this comment there are 130 thumbs down...to each their own but how can you not appreciate the complexity of playing this song on this instrument? Well done Dainel!
Thanks Eric! I tend to ignore the thumbs downers
Love the harp-like sound of a Lute.
Such a beautiful instrument, and a beautiful tune. 🎵

Thank You Tom! / daniel
Came here to listen to some lute covers for DnD. Looked at more songs played cause I was introduced to them through JoJo. Gonna have to sub now!
Thanks for the sub! glad you like... / daniel
One of my D&D games I have a lighting rail hobo goblin bard who plays a baroque lute (it's actually just a broke lute). This makes me happy ^_^
I have a Bard named Procol Harum who has long since retired and runs a tavern. He regularly has music like this playing when the new generation of PCs wander in.
Thank you for that, Daniel! God bless you, Daniel!!!
Jefferson --Thanks for listening
My son has requested that you 'please leave some women for the rest of us.' Most excellent work, absolutely lovely.
Thanks for listening!
this is amazing! like george was born two hundred years ago :)
especially i liked the solo, what a masterpiece
Thanks! it's a great song to play around with. / daniel
It’s great when you can laugh at yourself. I thought you were going to play a sad song when I saw the title.☮️💕
I love a good sad song that brings the tears
Breathtakingly beautiful.
Thank You! / daniel
The wonder of TH-cam. I happened across this by pure serendipity. I will now explore lute music a little more and have a sneak through you channel. Well done sir!
Thanks! glad you like so far / daniel
Not bad for a musician that never looks at his fretting hand 😂
thanks! bad habit of mine
It’s called muscle memory... try practising in the dark.
I kept hearing pieces of Time In A Bottle. Interestingly strange.
...now there's an idea
Incredibly amazing. Even I am Weeping by the beauty of your Performance.
Thanks for listening!
Such a song ...so wonderful no matter what kind of instrument is played.
it's quite versatile
Can someone tell me exactly what style lute this is and the tuning of the strings? thank you. i find this instrument fascinating.
this is an 11-course baroque lute---check out wikipedia for tuning
Kvothe we all know it's you!
you sniffed me out... good detective work
I also found this guy's channel after reading about Kvothe playing his Lute in Name of the Wind. Such an incredible story, and this guy is such an incredible musician. I love it when art helps me discover more art.
When you play a lute that wonderfully, the words don't matter. Beautiful!
Thanks!
Watching this during covid19 lockdown on a Sunday morning beats any sermon. Thank you for sharing.
Utu --Thanks for listening
@@danbluedeer thank you for sharing your gift at such a time as this.
All the "new" multi-string electric guitars are lute inspired.
Take a look on TH-cam at 18 string electric guitars.
"What was shall be again, for there is nothing new under the sun".
Ain't it the truth?
This is awesome. Sadly if you'd been female you could have added 3 zeros to the end of your like count.
hmmm....i didn't realize that. maybe I'll look into having an operation. / daniel
@@danbluedeer I'm kidding obviously but you see videos of people struming a few chords with an outrageous number of likes.
Excellent rendition of a George Harrison classic!! The mastery of the lute is super, thank you very much.
Thanks!
Gave me chills man! This is incredible.
Thanks for listening, Blake

~~~ *Great job, thanks for posting !!* ~~~
Beautifully played, and a fantastic arrangement weaving together four musician's parts.
Your sensitivity to minute timing syncopations invokes the original seamlessly.
Your time during the Covid Year was well-spent.
James -Thank you very much!
Utterly distracted by your brilliance
Thanks Joseph! it is kind of crazy out there
Indescribably beautiful- I'm blown away! Thank you for sharing your gift!
Thanks Liz! / daniel
Oh man not enough of Beatles love in bardcore. Your version is gorgeous! And i can't believe how perfect this song fits with the instrument! It's like George Harrison astrally projected back in time to the 1300s and came back to 68' with this
thanks! sometimes certain songs seem to tailor made for an instrument
Absolutely wonderful and atmospheric
thanks terence! glad you like it / daniel
It's not too often I smile constantly while watching a music video.
This was one.
It's good you weren't weeping gently.....thanks!
Timeless beauty..........on any instrument.
How could anyone give this a thumbs down. Probably his lute playing rivals.
Thanks Mr. Tibbs! I tend not to focus much on the negatives. You might be right about some of my "colleagues"
