I'm disappointed you didn't mention the great Emperor Dale of the coral sea island territory, he may of abdicated but he's still in our hearts.

I did actually consider it but cut it for time. I'm sure to make a video about the history of LGBTQIA+ rights in Australia one day and that'll definitely get a mention.

You didn't mention the franklin river project in which the Federal Government overturn and shouldn't of as the project was a state issue but the Federal Government interfered

Since Thursday Island is closer to Port Moresby than it is to Brisbane, is the Torres Strait apart of the State of Queensland or does the Torres Strait has the same governance like Christmas Island or is the population of the TSI is considered apart of QLD as a whole state?

The Torrest Strait Islands are considered part of Queensland but are adminstered by a regional authority body created by the federal government. To be honest I don't know much more so that is an interesting question and maybe I'll make a video about it once I've done more research.

States are guaranteed parliamentary representation on both state and federal level and have any legislative power not limited to the federal government. Federal government can't override state law. Territories are land that the federal government administers and can do with as it wishes. This had included granting self-government to the largest two territories (ACT and NT) but all laws are still able to be undone by the federal Parliament (though that's incredibly rare). There are many territories, usually too small for self government. States are states and are responsible for themselves. Territories are the responsibility of the Commonwealth and what level of governance they have is changeable.

@@AuspolExplained I am English. And am sick and tired of English colonialism. Scotland joined in a union with England in 1707. Every colonial action thereafter we’d British colonialism. It seems to me that anything positive is British. And anything negative is English.
But after 1707 there was no English empire, only a British empire. PS how would you like your country constantly being misnamed?

@@jimmartin156 Ah I see this is a cultural thing that I'm not aware of as an Australian. I merely said English because the settlers were English. I don't know of the Scottish's involvement colonisation.

Inhabited U.S. territories are all self-governing, but unlike the either kind of Australian territory, the residents of U.S. territories do not have voting representatives in either house of the U.S. Congress.
