    Incredible informational video. You used simple to understand language for beginners, paused at the right moments, spoke slow so we could follow but no too slow to where we were waiting for you to continue onto the next point, and didn't have a monotonous/robotic way of describing which would easily bore people. I am a beginner and I appreciated this so much. I literally was able to watch this ONCE and leave using these features of my camera naturally with not one problem or any confusion. Thanks again!

      After pushing the i button, press it again to get a different configuration of the menu. There are more options in here. Down the right-hand side, you'll see several setting boxes. I have 8 (including the 2 boxes under Qual). Focus mode is the 5th one down, and AF-area mode is the 6th. The options are top-to-bottom rather than left-to-right. It took me a minute or so of hunting before I stumbled upon this.

    I would like to use this as part of introduction to photography that I am presenting to my family and friends in my living room. It is the best presentation possible. Rather than recreating it myself I would like include it in my presentation. I am not sure the lessons for friends and family will end up on TH-cam. If they do your video would be presented with everyone gathered around a 70 inch HD tv. I would give you all the credit and recommend that they subscribe to your channel. If I use the presentation on TH-cam I would provide links to your channel. I respect your work and always try to do things ethically. Great video!

    Michael Thanks a lot for this video. Believe it or not I was under the impression that my 3200 did not auto focus. I was more convinced of this after calling Nikon to find out why it wasn't auto focusing & being told " not all 3200 auto focus" I've since found out that the customer service reps Nikon has answering there phones know as much or much less than I do. After watching your video realized that I had it in MF the entire time. I'm ashamed to say that I've had the camera almost six months & have used it many times not realizing that fact. Again this video had been the most useful & informative that I have come across on the 3200. Thanks for taking the time to make it.

    After reading this I find I can now understand what a lens and the numbers on the Lens are about. I can now determine which lens to use when taking shots. I can also always refer back for reference. I want to continue to gain knowledge in the photography field. This would have been especially helpful to me several years ago. plus.google.com

    Thanks Mike! This helped out a lot. I can't believe that I did not look this up before. I am quite the amateur and shot my first concert a couple of weeks ago. I tried out your suggestions on my son running around and I was totally shocked at the quality of the subject and my pictures. I sure missed out on some great shots at the concert that came out blurred prior to watching this.

    The biggest surprise was however the image quality after we analyzed our initial 350 photos on a large monitor. The yield of usable photos was right out of the box very high, which reiterates the ease of use of this camera and the great auto-focus system despite only 11 sensors.

    Hello. I have the opportunity to buy a cheap Nikon D3200. Is there a big difference between 3200 and 3300? I care about the quality of the photos. I am an amateur, I already had several other systems such as Sony, Lumix and Canon. I would like to check a d3200 or d3300 with a nikon 50mm 1.8G. I don't record video and I don't care about wifi or other goodies. I just want a great picture. Is the d3200 much worse than the d3300. Thanx

    Great video. I've just purchased a D3200 which I had a chance to try out a couple of weeks ago. I love the flexibility. I haven't used this grade of camera since the mid 70's when I shot with a Cannon F-1. They've come a long way.
    One suggestion (as a web designer). You might consider placing your website link at the beginning of this description as well. That way your viewers do not have to use the "show more" to find your link.

    Hi, can I focus in a given known distance ? For example, I know that my target is 518 meters far away from my camera, can i set my camera up to focus at exactly this distance ? It is easy to find out the exact distance using google earth. Another tip I would like to have your opinion, I want to shoot landscape while I am standing 5 meters far from camera, while I am behind my camera, I cannot focus just five meters because there is nothing there, then, when I stand i am always out of focus

    • @MMaven
      @MMaven  8 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      1 Set your lens to manual, and use hyper focal markings on the lens. It us the infinity symbol, move it to the aperture you are using. 2- focus on a object at that distance using Manual focus

    • @costastsantires8098
      @costastsantires8098 8 ปีที่แล้ว

      +MichaelTheMentor , Hi, thanks for the tips, well, nikon d3300 with nikor 18 55, doesn't have the infinity symbol or other metering mark. Infinity should be at the end of the ring, well, when I stand on my window and I try to focus on a mountain pick, the best focus is not at the end of the ring but few "steps" before the end, anyway, Itry to master my d3300 the last couple of months, the focus is the most difficult issue, all the other settings can be fixed in raw format, wrong focusing cannot. Thanks anyway for the tips

    At pt. 1min 42 sec. you are explaining the focus points and you can clearly see all the focus points. On my D3200 I have a 35mm lens and I can barely see any of those little squares! They are so small and faint. When taking a shot inside in dim light, I can see the red focus pt for a sec......but the others are so dim I can not tell if is in the center or off to a side......so to me, the focus pt could be anywhere. My D50 has a definite square box that will turn red.....THAT you can see.........is there a way to make the pts larger or brighter?...not just the red......but all the surrounding pts which are black.....I can barely see them.....

    • @itaku
      @itaku 9 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      +Savannahali If both people are next to each other both will be in focus, if one is slightly in front or behind they will be out of focus. That's why for group shots you'd want to shoot at a higher f stop to increase the focus plane, I usually shoot groups at f8.

    Thank you sir for the Lesson. Its Superb. I have been shooting in AF-A and AF Area for a year. Had no problem, but in last project, it started to focus a bit late, now after watching this I did changed it to Single Point Focus AF mode (i always use it for Bride/groom Potrait) and planing it to use in wedding. Is back button focus lock advisable for fast shooting of wedding rituals?

    I watched your video on the Nikon D 3300 focus program and you did an excellent job in demonstrating and teaching on the best selections. I do have a question because in the video you state you pretty much select the single point setting but I was wondering how does that work with wildlife if youre trying to take multiple photographs of a deer on the run? I was wondering if the camera should be set on AF-C with the focal points set at either 3D tracking (11 point) or the dynamic setting?
    Regards,

    Many thanks for this. I bought the camera yesterday and must have changed a setting without knowing I'd done so and couldn't get it to auto-focus.
    After watching this video it's now fine.
    Saved me a lot of stress!!
    Keep up the good work.
    I have a feeling I'll be re-visiting.

    I started off with the auto mode and slowly graduated to the Manual mode. The manual mode indeed gives absolute control over the camera. There are certain situations where computers are just not able to make the best possible decision, so I suggest people to start experimenting with manual mode. Experiment with the ISO levels, Shutter speed and aperture. And Manual focusing is a must when it comes to Macro Photography. Great video as always

    Since switching from Canon to Nikon, I couldn't figure out how to change my focus point (and it was driving me absolutely batty since my focus points kept changing to nothing I wanted). Thanks for the clear description. Seems so easy now! :D

    Very thorough and easy to understand. I've watched plenty of other videos on this subject and either they were too technical or explained too quickly to grasp anything. You made it easy and simple to understand, thanks.

    Just what I was looking for to learn.
    I think Ill stick with center focus and then reframe if I want to focus on something off to the side.

    After watching this video i realized i was not focusing properly. I tried it and it came out so much better. I am trying to learn to shoot in Manual. Do you have videos on shooting in Manual Mode?

    Thank you thank you thank you. This one video literally cleared up several questions i have had. Ive looked through many videos that try to answer them but none have done so in this fashion. So again thank you for the clear and concise explanation of these concepts. Subbed.
